It's completely up to you. I personally loved the 2nd Generation games and I do recommend them if you haven't played them. I think I enjoyed Crystal slightly more than Silver or Gold though.

Melash November 7th, 2008 6:19 PM

Yeah, if I were you, I'd get it, especially since you haven't played a 2nd Generation game. I own a copy of Silver, and I still play it. But hey, it's up to you!

AdvanceMapper November 7th, 2008 6:57 PM

I'd die for 2nd generation games.
Still, consider the low battery probelm.

BassFace November 9th, 2008 7:04 AM

If you're planning on buying it, I would ask to test the game first. Check for existing save data - if there's none, there's a chance the game's internal battery has worn out, since it's extremely rare for previous owners of a used game to delete their saved data before selling their game. If there is saved data, I would still suggest making sure that the saved data stays intact through several reloads.

The second generation games were great games - I'd highly recommend playing them, provided they still save...

I say get it, because you said you dont have a 2nd gen game, so take it and experience what it is like in the game. By the way the 2nd gen. series is awesome expecially crystal version, but silver is also good as well. ;]

Ryuu Akamatsu November 9th, 2008 8:55 AM

Get it. It's definitely worth it. If the internal battery is worn out, you can go to pretty much any electronics place and get it fixed.

Tanooki November 9th, 2008 4:48 PM

You can actually still buy factory sealed copies of 2nd gen games off of online stores like Amazon. It will, however, cost you well over $100 if you decide to buy them that way.

Red1530 November 9th, 2008 4:57 PM

I recommend that you get the game and take BassFace advice and check to see if the internal battery is working.

TL;DR

DO IT DO IT DO IT!

True Reign November 10th, 2008 12:30 AM

If you never played any of the second generation games, then I highly recommend you to play them. Also, just make sure you check the internal battery if it is working or not.

Good luck. :)

Mewtwo42 November 10th, 2008 6:58 PM

I'd get it. It's fun. But, that's up to you to decide if you want to get it. Some people find the gameplay shallow in comparison to Diamond and Pearl, but I disagree. Yes, Silver doesn't have as many features or as many pokemon, but it has a much longer storyline because you get 16 badges. Also, it's just kind of fun to look back and say,"This is what I used to play...? The graphics look so bad!!!"

Likewise November 10th, 2008 7:02 PM

DO IT
trust me it is a lot better than diamond and pearl

Outlander November 11th, 2008 3:45 AM

well if you're going to get a 2nd gen game I'd get crystal but thats just me. Still Gold and Silver were great games definitely get Silver if thats the one you want ;) they're all good

Cactus Twist November 12th, 2008 8:55 PM

the 2nd gen games are probably the best ones, so go for it

billie_lightning November 12th, 2008 9:36 PM

2nd gen is probably my favorite. Silver is definitely worth playing. I love it. I still play it.
Lugia FTW

Pokemaster1993 November 14th, 2008 2:16 PM

so I got silver an hour ago, and it's awesome! but I need new batteries... <_<

Heart's Soul November 14th, 2008 6:41 PM

Try getting a ROM instead. Infinite batteries, no problems. Not posting the link, but if you want to get the actual cartridge, then get some batteries too... that don't mess up your character to the opposite colour (I stopped playing Crystal because my character is blue and the batteries die in 5 minutes)

Pingouin_7 November 26th, 2008 2:44 PM

Hey, there's a glitch in Crystal that allows you to change the color of your Trainer's OW sprite.

Well, of course. It work in GS too and only for about a week or two.

Aoi Natsu November 30th, 2008 11:44 AM

Oooh, I loved Silver! I still go back and play it sometimes, just to remind myself how far the pokemon franchise has evolved. Though the horrendous amount of Surfing done I found just obnoxious. D: *hates water pokemon*

But it's permanent in Crystal... ¬_¬

You're not talking about the same glitch as I.

Zennyo Ryūō November 30th, 2008 1:38 PM

Yes. The second generation was by far the best.

RanzAlton December 6th, 2008 5:54 AM
