Internet Explorer
Do you think that Internet Explorer(IE) gave developers a lots of hassle, my site rendered perfectly on Firefox, Opera, Safari, Chrome, but not IE. I do not use data: URI because IE does not support it. IE 6 and 7 does not support most CSS2 standards, and it can be crashed very easily(you will probably crash at http://crashie.freehostia.com and http://crashie.com).
IE is high in statistics because it is pre-installed, everyone will use IE at least once and at least one link click. Do you think IE is a hassle for developers and its high usage share is from dirty tricks? |
No crap it is. We've all wasted countless hours trying to fix IE's inconsistencies and bugs that contaminate the web, and whenever a new version is released, even more crap is added that makes everything crap up again.
|
Yes, I wasted a lots of time to make my web page work for IE.
|
I don't even try to bother with IE. It's another pointless Microsoft product. I know most people use IE, but I'm sure in the near future IE will be ended because Safari, Firefox, and possibly Opera will dominate.
|
Unfortunately, it does give ALOT of problems, I had some problems for a college project last year because of some IE stuff. It really annoyed me.
I personally think either Microsoft should be FORCED to correct the inconsistencies in IE along with any other problems in IE (making it conform to the most updated code) Quote:
And for college students like myself, you might be told to make sure it works with at LEAST IE (yes IE is the main example used >_> although I work with both that and firefox at least) which I had to do last year and will probably have to do later this year for a web design class....but oh well. I enjoy stuff like this even if its frustrating >_< |
IE is used in schools and enterprises, we cannot help because it is hard to mass-install Firefox.
One of my teacher's computer has Firefox, but he did not use it, how foolish |
I do, validate my sites but that still doesn't help making it work in IE.
Tho I do the hack where if its IE it will use a seperate Stylesheet. Even tho I hate doing that. |
I really advise against IE conditionals whatsoever in your documents. Yeah, they work, but it just turns out to be a bad idea. Your layout should work on every browser as-is without any conditionals for a specific browser to be put into effect.
Although if you're able to pull it off in your favorite server-side scripting language, then it is better source-code presentation wise. |
