PassJask attempt (Shoddy OU)
Alright this is the second team I've built. My first team enjoyed mild success, but had some obvious holes, most noticeably of which was the lack of a phazer or someone with a priority move. As such, I could not stop Ninjask. So what did I do? I decided to use him myself!
I was tempted to put Marowak in here, as I've always wanted to use him, but I think I'll save him for another day. Commence with the team! Overview: http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpiconani/dpiconani291.gifhttp://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpiconani/dpiconani475.gifhttp://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpiconani/dpiconani230.gifhttp://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpiconani/dpiconani184.gifhttp://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpiconani/dpiconani477.gifhttp://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpiconani/dpiconani462.gif (First is lead) http://www.arkeis.com/images/pokemonfactory/ninjask.png Ninjask (M) @ Liechi Berry Ability: Speed Boost EVs: 176 HP/252 Atk/80 Spd Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Baton Pass - Substitute - Swords Dance - X-Scissor I want Ninjask at lead because of stealth rock not being out yet. I used Liechi Berry for added attack to pass, considering I don't get phazed/priorityKO'd by then (which obviously is important no matter what item I'm using). X-Scissor is for anyone who comes in and tries to set up on me who is weak to bug, or if I just need to actually hit someone. http://www2.wilmington.k12.oh.us/whsdc/rice/images/gallade.png Gallade (M) @ Life Orb Ability: Steadfast EVs: 64 HP/252 Atk/192 Spd Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Close Combat - Ice Punch - Night Slash - Swords Dance Gallade is the main man I want to pass to, though I have plenty others to choose from. I considered dropping SD for Psycho Cut, but thought otherwise for the large amount of cases I'll have where I'll not be switching him an SD or atk boost from Ninjask. I had Gallade on my first team and managed quite a few sweeps with him. STAB Close Combat after a SD tears things apart. It'll OHKO almost anything it hits for at least neutral. Ice Punch covers dragons as well as those pesky flying types who like to rain on Gallades sweep parade. Night Slash takes out Ghosts and Psychics. http://www.arkeis.com/images/pokemonfactory/kingdra.png Kingdra (M) @ Scope Lens Ability: Sniper EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Focus Energy - Surf - Ice Beam - Hidden Power [Electric] Kingdra is another sweeper I had last time around, but this one's a lot different. Considering I'm looking to hopefully pass some speed to Kingdra, I looked at Sniper sets as opposed to Swift Swim sets. Kingdra has plenty to switch into and cause a switch, allowing a Focus Energy, and Surf, Ice Beam, and HP Electric have good coverage. Sniper + Scope Lens leads to some massive damage. http://www.arkeis.com/images/pokemonfactory/azumarill.png Azumarill (M) @ Choice Band Ability: Huge Power EVs: 212 HP/252 Atk/44 Spd Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Aqua Jet - Double-edge - Ice Punch - Waterfall I don't think anyone can resist trying Azumarill. The thought of passing a couple speed boosts to Azumarill makes me water at the mouth. Aqua Jet already does a great job of hitting things with priority with that 654 attack. Ice Punch hits grass types that want to wall. Waterfall is his best Physical STAB so it's a must. Double-edge just hits things really hard, and is only resisted by 3 types. http://www.arkeis.com/images/pokemonfactory/dusknoir.png Dusknoir (M) @ Leftovers Ability: Pressure EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SDef Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk) - Will-o-wisp - Thunderpunch - Fire Punch - Pain Split Dusknoir is my defensive specialist. His defenses allow him to take a lot of hits. Pain Split is not great but works decently for recovery. Will-o-wisp cripples physical sweepers. Thunderpunch and Fire Punch offer good type coverage using Dusknoir's actually decent attack stat. http://www.arkeis.com/images/pokemonfactory/magnezone.png Magnezone @ Choice Specs Ability: Magnet Pull EVs: 172 Atk/84 Spd/252 SAtk Lonely nature (+Atk, -Def) - Flash Cannon - Hidden Power [Fire] - Explosion - Thunderbolt This is the same Magnezone I ran on my last team, only I went Specs over Scarf due to Ninjask. The added Sp. Atk should allow him to handle high Sp. Def pokes like Milotic and Dusknoir, and Explosion + the Atk EVs help as a last resort on Blissey (if Gallade is gone). STAB'd Flash Cannon should handle TTar. HP Ice is standard, but HP Fire, as I have tested, makes a for a flawless Scizor counter, thanks to Magnet Pull. (And we know how common Scizor is now that he has Bullet Punch). This team relies a good deal on Ninjask passing, but it should be able to find decent success even if Ninjask fails to pass. I have no SR set up here, but I didn't use it THAT often on my last team, which did decently well. |

You're better off asking D_A or Vance the threats you should be looking out for. I initially thought of Gyara and TTar, both of which are dealt with. Nice team. |
I don't see the point of all that Attack, and little Speed investment. Just max your speed ._. It helps against the likes of Trick Scarf Zam and Trick Scarf Gar (which will destroy your entire team given they incapitate Ninjask) Add Protect over something on that moveset, preferably X-Scissor. I know it sounds taboo to use an all support 'Jask, but it won't be living long at all.
Once Ninjask is out of the way, and the recepient is killed off (which it will be, one Baton Passer does not make a good team =-[) You become very SubDD Kingdra weak. After one DD, it can 2HKO your entire team with ease. It can switch in with impunity on Azumarill's Aqua Jet, Dusknoir's Fire Punch (Sub on the WoW, DD, and then 2HKO with Outrage) I'd advise something like a bulky Celebi (also can be a CM Baton Passer to your Magnezone, which can be changed to a LO version) Celebi @ Leftovers Bold 252 HP/220 Def/36 Spe Calm Mind Baton Pass Grass Knot Recover You could invest in more speed. |
Might I say that Fire Punch / EQ hits so many things, and I opt it for the masses of Heatrans who come in to take your WoW or Fire Punch.
You need something else to pass with. A baton pass team with only Lead Jask as the BP'er is epic failz. Why? Because he'll die to SR after 3 turns switched in. Sub Liechi with SD is lolz btw. Vance made a nice suggestion with CMPass Celebi. It's nice and will be very cost effective for your team. |
Thanks for the comments guys. I tested the team and it certainly failed. I will try your suggestions and give this team another go.
Would you go with that Celebi over Dusknoir? |
Other options include Scizor and (wait for it) Gliscor. The former has SD, Iron Defense, and Agility, while the (super-sexy) latter has Swords Dance and Agility.
I'm suprised this thread is without men TBH. -_- |

You have no real walling potential. TBH I don't like Azumarill here. Vance has suggested Celebi. Scarfbi or a CMpasser could help you I suppose. ~T_S |
