Internet Predicted to Melt Down by Mid-day
Given a few news articles as of late, I will like to arm that is is not a joke when i am talking about e-terrorists that could attack certian websites including message boards, and I thought that you guys may need to read this because it could be most important,
Via - http://isc.sans.org/diary.php?date=2004-08-24 "You should probably starting backing up that gig of gmail to local storage. According to a Russian news site, Kaspersky Labs states that terrorists will launch attacks which will paralyze the Internet this Thursday. This tragically coincides with two weeks of script kiddie attacks (which were scheduled to begin this past Sunday) aimed at disrupting the Republican national convention. In addition, many college students are back on campus this week, which provides the e-terrorists and i-subversives with a veritable candyland of insecure boxes on big pipes. Faced with this triple threat, our beloved Internet will surely fall. The ISC would like to go out on a limb and predict that the Internet will not vaporize into a cloud of nothingness this Thursday, but if it does, it's been our pleasure to help stave off its inevitable annihilation this long." So I hope that you are able to be alerted about this. |
I don't think this will happen. Why? It's already Thursday and it's 10:49 PM ...nope...nothing in the news here... O_O
|
Next thursday...should have said that sorry.
|
The internet crash?
Blue do you have any idea how protected that thing will be (and the internet) there is almost no way it will be that hard hit actually it's quite impossible. Yes college students are coming back but now with how fast they find a solution to these trojans and stuff i hardly think it will get that bad. I shall go on though to check since I am very headstrong and skeptical XD |

yes that is true but they believe it now sent out a hijack signal right before so I wouldn't call it that yet....
but something strange really is going on... I agree with you on that |

Hmm, airplaines go missing in Russia then crash...then the explosion in Paris today...now this...kinda starting to freak me out a bit. I do belive it will be semi-hard for these guys to do this, but if they truley are the starters of the kiddie virus then I would expect something bad from them. I mean, it's not impossible... a few years ago (around 1998-2000) Sprint accidentally cut through an old DARPANET cable, and it messed up the internet from New York to Virginia. |
omg what happened in Paris?
this is starting to get really freaky *slowly reminds self to move to canada and take down all my bush banners and get a canadian accent ok i think im ready..... |

|
uh oh what kind? And it was in paris? and was anyone killed....
|
Um....... no. Not gonna happen. Maybe you should get a clear idea of how the intenet works first, then come to the conclusion that the internet can't be "crashed". It just doesnt wor that way. You can screw up parts of it, but it'll work elsewhere.
Also, about your plane crashes and blown up factories -- No company is stupid enough to give access to anything physical within the company by internet connection. If it blew up, someone did it maually, no hacking involved. Don't fear this article, it's just "one of those things". It'll blow over in a day. OR! That whole article was bullcrap. I persnally don't believe it... dunno if you do. |

All this over unpatched IE holes? I doubt it.
And if you're that worried, http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox |
The main problem with this claim, is that the only way to truely undermine the Internet is the kill the Primary Domain Name Servers.
No DNS, No-one goes anywhere without IP# themselves. The problem with this of course, is that these Primary DNS Servers are home to some incredibly fat pipes and I don't think it's possible to DoS something like that. Their sole purpose is to be HAMMERED all day, everyday, and not to fail. And they won't. Silly media. |

BOO ya! |
She's saying that the place where all the important stuff that says where the internet is located is very hard to hack.
|
What? but that would be impossible....you cant crash the whole internet....there are countless of sites....
|
Aren't they just trying to hack soem government thing to blow something up?
|
Well I doubt you can blow something up from the net....yes the net CAN do many things but not that...XD

Those DNS servers have the info about where you can connect to a computer. If your ISP's DNS can't find a site, it'll ask those for 'em. But if they're down, then no IP Address forwarding, hence, you cannot connect to other computers.
As a1337a said, to bring those powerfull machines down would be nearly impossible... that is unless you go to it and start throwing rocks at it... that might just work. |
Hmmmm could we fix it if it does happen?
|
Yes. It's very fixable. It'll only take a few minutes till everything reboots. Pfft, bring down the internet. I'd love to see the day that happens.
|
Well if we can fix it whats their point in crashing it? *laugh* XD people these days...lol
|
im prepaired. i am updating windows, norton and getting a firewall. i have my website backed up and a m prepared for the worst!
