Best Programming for Games?

Which one should I try to learn but it shouldn't be TOO hard like C# or XNA. I'm talking about 3d games. I want to make a game like Megaman Legends 2 but with better graphics, shadows and all that stuff, yes I want to make Megaman Legends 3. So, tell me which one would be Best?

DarkBASIC?????

you're pretty much gonna have to learn C and all that if you want to make stuff like that

My brother makes games professionally for a company called Skive.

He uses Macromedia/Adobe Director, which I have also made things in. IMO it's been the easiest for me to learn, and you can create very professional games from it.

If you need some examples, he's made all of these in Director:
BP Ultimate Rally
Beat the Wall
Table Top Football
Wheatabix Virtual Games
VW Polo Cup
M3 Power Jet Ski Challenge
Starburst
Wrecker
Sony Parklife

There is tools out there but I am not sure of any that can help you with what you want to do.

Programming wise, There is several languages you could choose, but I would recommend C++. You would also probably have to learn a bit about an API like Directx

It's alot of hard work though and there is no easy way around it, so if you stick with it, then good luck ^^

If you want to make a good 3d game, you'll need to learn something a bit more than BASIC (though you could start with Visual Basic and make something).

C or C++ would be your best choices here.. majority of games for consoles and the pc use these codes.

They might be hard, but programming isn't meant to be a 'learn in 5 mins, know everything' sort of thing.

Everyone says C but I'd rather be programming my games in Lua so there's my suggestion.

The majority of professional gaming companies use C or C++ to program in.

I suggest starting with C, and then moving on to other C derivatives ( C++, C#, ect )

No, Not BASIC, I was talking about DarkBASIC. It's a program and it's also it's language.

And Josephine, Thanks for the great suggestion!

If he thinks C# is hard, then working with C would be virtually impossible.

If you're looking to program only on Windows, you could buy (or even yohoho-me-hearties) the registered version of Game Maker 7 from yoyogames..

DarkBASIC is a form of BASIC

Like how Visual Basic was derived from BASIC

in any case, if you consider DarkBASIC easy, use that
