Platifail team (OU)
Basic notes on the team- I've played about 21 matchs with it, and lost three, so its either a great team or it's been luck. Most these sets are my own creation, or stuff which I saw from Smogon which works.Standard line-up really.
Team:http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfa/dpmfa205.pnghttp://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x281/thepeckingbird/492-sky.pnghttp://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfa/dpmfa424.pnghttp://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfa/dpmfa373.pnghttp://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfa/dpmfa409.pnghttp://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfa/dpmfa485.png http://www.arkeis.com/images/pokemonfactory/forretress.png Forretress (M) @ Leftovers Ability: Sturdy EVs: 252 Def/6 SAtk/252 SDef Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk) - Toxic Spikes - Spikes - Gyro Ball - Explosion Set up lead, need more be said? Depending on what comes out as a lead, I use a degree of spikes, but in some cases I Gyro Ball it, and after spiking/ Gyro balling I explode, standard set up lead http://www.arkeis.com/images/pokemonfactory/shaymin_sky.png Shaymin-s @ Wide Lens Ability: Serene Grace EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Psychic - Earth Power - Seed Flare - Hidden Power [Ice] Awsome sweeper, Wide Lens hit rate on Seed Flare is horrible, Psychic gets Gengar out, which is another common late game sweeper, I use it for that job really, Earth Power is for Heatran's switching or non Scarfed Heatran, HP ICE waves off Salamance and Dragonite http://www.arkeis.com/images/pokemonfactory/ambipom.png Ambipom (F) @ Life Orb Ability: Technician EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Fake Out - Last Resort This has swept so often it really isnt funny, hardly anything which doesnt resist it lives it, Fake out does on average 30%, then Last Resort kills, the EV's generate 329 speed, enough to outrun a fair bit http://www.arkeis.com/images/pokemonfactory/salamence.png Salamence (M) @ Choice Scarf Ability: Intimidate EVs: 252 Atk/6 Def/252 Spd Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Crunch - Brick Break - Fire Fang - Outrage Scarfmence, DD serves no place. Hits most things hard or abuses Outrage to get somewhere http://www.arkeis.com/images/pokemonfactory/rampardos.png Rampardos (M) @ Choice Scarf Ability: Mold Breaker EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd Hasty nature (+Spd, -Def) - Outrage - Superpower - Earthquake - Crunch Lethal. Choice Scarf makes it fast, but keeps a decant attack stat at 429. It sweeps early in the game, with Superpower to abuse it takes most things out or hits hard http://www.arkeis.com/images/pokemonfactory/heatran.png Heatran (M) @ Choice Scarf Ability: Flash Fire EVs: 6 Def/252 Spd/252 SAtk Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Lava Plume - Earth Power - Dragon Pulse - Dark Pulse Scarftran. I have Lava Plume for the burn rate, and the rest explains itself, it works great against almost everything, and serves great on this team A rate would be nice with this team, happy rating ^_^ |
I really don't see the point in having Toxic Spikes and Spikes on the same Forretress set, really you almost have to go with one, make your decision, because overall, its a waste of a moveslot, Earthquake on Forretress is so much more handy and needs to be in there in replace of either Spikes or Toxic Spikes.
A Rampardos without Stone Edge or Head Smash? rofl. Why not utilize its insane attack stat with STAB too? Having no STAB moves in the set really isn't a good decision. I say take out Outrage in place of either Stone Edge or Earthquake, because unSTAB'd Outrage really isn't worth it. Also, does that Ambipom really work? Come on..I doubt it. Just because Last Resort has a base power of 130 doesn't mean it deserves to be your only main attacking option, that sounds like a terrible set to be blunt but honest =/ I don't see Last Resort "sweeping" rofl. Salamence could use Earthquake instead of Brick Break, but really that's just my own personal preference. Everything else is either pretty standard or not too seriously screwed up. You'll still probably get better rates than me so just wait for the pros to crop up. lol. *waits for D_A to tell what Alex's team is weak to* |
^ agreed.
Putting in Stone Edge over Outrage still hits Dragonite, and Salamence AND Punishes Zapdos etc. Also, Lack of Stealth Rock on this team makes me cry. Should probably fix that about your lead. |
With three choice scarfers, you might as well pull out the red carpet welcoming everythnig in the metagame to set up on your team.
I would first of all put fire Blast over Lava Plume on Heatran. this isn't the resttalker where it's trying to burn stuff left and right really. Lava Plume doesn't help Heatran's job as a revenge killer. I would also use Toxic >>> Dark Pulse, since Dark Pulse is weaker than Fire Blast in almost any circumstance (including supereffective Dark Pulse). Stealth Rock is another good option in the last slot. Rampardos is dead weight imo. It's fragile and can't hurt anything without its STAB attack and no attack boost of any kind. It's just a set-up fodder as though it were Resttalk Cresselia. There are better early game sweepers if that's what you want. Ambipom is decomated by the two most common pokemon on the ladder (heatran and Scizor), as well as other VERY common threats like Metagross, Gengar, Rotom forms, and Bronzong. It would be much more useful as a scouting pokmeon with U-Turn and Brick Break, and maybe payback thrown in there to not get totally crushed by Gengar (though it probably won't really make a difference). Forretress is a really bad lead. Anything with Taunt destroys it, and the most common lead in Azelf OHKOs it with Fire Blast. I would lead with one of your Choice Scarfers. also, over either Toxispikes or Spikes, use Rapid Spin since your team is quite SR weak. On skymin, use Air Slash over Psychic (Gengar won't be beating skymin anyways without a choice scarf, and psychic won't help against those). ---- For what seems like an offensive team, you can't really hurt anything. Stall is going to chuckle at three choice scarfers and Skymin/Ambipom as the main sweepers, and offense will overpower it. I would invest in more powerful and efficient sweepers to get the job done for you, and limit your scarfer count to one or two. |
Wow 3 choice scarfers, take it easy on the choice consumption youngster!
I think Rampardos more than anyone else deserves the Glass Cannon title, even with Scarf any priority move will end it, as well as many other Scarfed Pokemon. Not to mention Outrage on Rampardos buddy, you're risking a whole lotta lot there. When it comes to Heatran, it hurts. It hurts to see Specsed Heatran is kinda underused, yet has so many potential. I'll tell you a better revenge killer: Dugtrio. Use it. Not because it completely destroys Heatran, but it's very eclectic move-wise and a scarfed trio is something to be feared. Wide Lens on Skymin? I'm not so sure, but in my experience with it, I haven't missed Seed Flare so much NOR do I find it so useful to the extent of attaching an item to it just for its total effectiveness. Assuming you're not considering the Leech Seeding set, than Life Orb could be useful, and the extra power would surely pay off for the lack of 10% extra accuracy given by Wide Lens. And why does DD mence serve no place? It's beastly after proper setup, just timely do it. |

comments in bold. The problem here is that this team is incredibly easy to set up on because 3 choice users is overkill, so i suggest we get rid of some dead weight aka Rampardos and get something more useful. Ill go into more depth later. EDIT : Oh god ive been beaten lol |
