Free PDF to Image Converter

Can anyone possibly recommend me a PDF to image converter program? It must be freeware. It would be nice if it were portable too.

My mum currently has some PDFs she wants to convert to images and it's ticking me off so much. I've done a quick search and all of the ones that are there are shareware programs which I hate using (excluding WinRAR).

I was actually considering doing that but it would take far too long. The PDFs aren't exactly... small. o.o"

oh, well I actually haven't found a free pdf to image converter before so I really can't think of anything else

Here's a link to one. I've used it and it works, however in order to download it you must put in an email to get the download link. (I used a Spambox.us box and it worked)

I actually came across that one. Is it really 100% free? I turned away from it when I saw "Click here to download and try it out for free."

Usually when companies say try it, it's usually an evaluation.

I downloaded it, and ran it, and it was the real deal. no adware or anything on it.

When a PDF to image converter is made for free, I'll probably be Noah with an Ark bigger than the Jee-man's magic himself. :P

Don't be lazy, use print screen. I always do that. Print Screen is your best friend when Google is failing you.

And if it's some big fat 100 page document, you may as well get your Pay-Pal ready :\.

Assuming you're running Windows, there is a way you can do it for free without any additional software. One of the pre-installed "printers" is the "Microsoft Office Document Image Writer." Print the PDF with this printer and it will output a .tif file. You'll need something that can open a tif so you can save it as something else but it does work.

Just be aware that there are a couple of short-comings with this method. First of all, images in the document won't exactly look right so unless you're PDFs are text-based or you don't care about image quality (which doesn't make much sense if you're converting to an image to begin with), this may not be the best route to take. Also, you still have to do one page at a time since any image-editing program will only show you the first page when you open the tif file and because of this, it makes more sense to just use print screen.

I realize this likely isn't a useful suggestion in your case but I figured it still couldn't hurt to mention anyway. If this doesn't work for you though, you don't exactly have too many more options beyond buying a conversion program or picking up a copy of Adobe Acrobat, which can export pages (or entire documents) directly to a variety of image formats.

It isn't about me being lazy. I had to convert 3 A3 PDFs and I was just wondering if there was a more efficient way to do it.

You're right. I wasn't that helpful in my case. Thanks for the tip anyway though.
