Dugtrio @ Focus Sash
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 252 Spe / 252 Atk / 4 HP
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Sucker Punch

"A Duggy lead?" you might ask. Strange but effective. Consider that the only two common leads that are faster than him, and can use Taunt (Aero and Weavile) are both either OHKOd by Stone Edge or a combination of Stone Edge and Sucker Punch. He is arguably the most reliable Stealth Rocker, and is essential in this team because of the fact that he provides the only electric resist and/or immunity.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Nature: Modest
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 232 Spe / 24 HP
- Substitute
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power { Grass }

SubTran is a true force to be reckoned with. The concept is simple, but effective. Set up a Substitute as one of the multitudes of Platinum's threats that fear Heatran switch out. Essentially everything except for Blissey that switches in will take some considerable damage. Hidden Power Grass is for bulky waters but primarily Swampert who is very annoying for this team to face. However, the introduction of Skymin to OU has really decreased Swampert usage (correct me if I'm wrong) for obvious reasons. I wonder if Explosion or a different Hidden Power could be better in this spot.

Scizor @ Choice Band
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Technician
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 Spe
- U-Turn
- Bullet Punch
- Brick Break
- Pursuit

Scizor has been a personal favorite since GSC (although I didn't play competitively whatsoever). With Platinum, he obviously got better and we all know why, so I won't bore you with how good Bullet Punch is. U-Turn is awesome for early game scouting, Brick Break over Superpower to break screens, and Pursuit is just plain good.

Suicune @ Life Orb
Nature: Timid
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 HP
- Calm Mind
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power { Electric }

Suicune has always been one of OUs finest. He has been incorporated into this spot as my primary answer to Gyarados, and as my stat-upping sweeper. I'm not sure what else to add here other than I hate Blissey and outspeeding the neutral base 100s is a huge benefit. Thus Timid over Modest.

I'm considering Expert Belt over Life Orb because of all the T-Tars and Hippos nowadays. Your opinions?

Salamence @ Choice Scarf
Nature: Naughty
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 176 Spe / 80 SpA
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Hydro Pump

Nothing switches in safely to this. It is a simple fact that it requires solid prediction by the opponent to beat this set.

I believe that the speed EVs allow me to outrun max speed Jolly Gyara after a DD, but I'm not sure. If so, then this is very handy if something were to happen to Suicune. I made / implemented many of these EV spreads a long time ago, and I'm sorry I can't remember much about them.

Hitmontop @ Life Orb
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Technician
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 Spe
- Mach Punch
- Sucker Punch
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge

I can honestly say I have not missed Fake Out at all. The extra coverage provided by Stone Edge on Flying types such as Zapdos is so much more valuable. Mach Punch with all of its modifiers make it very powerful, although still only half as powerful as Close Combat, hence its inclusion into the set as well. Sucker Punch is very useful on the Rotoms if I'm sure they are going to attack rather than Burn or Paralyze me, or even worse, set up Dual Screens. Hitmontop is possibly my favorite Pokemon, although it is so hard to pick just one from the 490 some Pokes there are...
