In Utero
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/7d/InUteroNew1.jpg

In Utero is the third and final studio album by the American Alternative Rock/Grunge band Nirvana. It was released in 1993. Despite the album's agressive and abrassive sound which was in no way like the even more famous Nevermind (Nirvana's world famous CD featuring one of the most famous songs of all time, Smells Like Teen Spirit), this album still sold very well. It has 3 singles, 2 of which were release and one not released due to Kurt Cobain's suicide.

This album is actually my favorite Nirvana album. The different style of music may turn people away, but it will mostly bring more in. It has some songs that people will remember, such as Heart Shaped Box and All Apologies. It also gives a new image: Instead of the free spirited Nirvana from Nevermind, we have the punky, new sound of Nirvana fron In Utero, As stated before, that will turn some people away, but most people will be swepted away by the upbeat, agressive, and real world sound of the fianl Nirvana album. While it isn't the best, it is certainly something not to ignore.

Death Magnetic VS All Hope is Gone

Love reviewing albums.

After reading a Heavy Metal Magazine, I was astonished. THis particular magazine was a magazine that had the Top 10 whatever in Metal. It had the top ten drummers of hard rock, top ten most influencial bands, top ten (You name it).

One catagory was the heaviest albums of 2008. I can't remember the exact placements, but I remember one thing that really made me think "Yeah Right" and "Pfft. What a load of ****." They said the heaviest album of 2008 went to Slipknot's album "All Hope is Gone." I believe trailing it was the newly released "Death Magnetic" by the famed band Metallica.

I disagreed with this placement very big, and it wasn't because I love Metallica more than I do Slipknot, let's take a look at both these heavy albums.

All Hope is Gone- Slipknot

Slipknot's newest album is probably their best. The album has some elements of theme and some intense drum and guitar riffs. All in all the album is rather good. SLipknot fans would really enjoy it, but the fact that some songs to me just sound like constant rambling or blabbering just really annoyed me.

I enjoyed the "Killing Name," "Snuff," "All Hope is Gone," and the most played track from the album, "Psycosocial."
THe drums in Psycosocial are an amazing treat in this album, and the gentle guitars in Snuff are nothing short of awesome. But the album could have been better if you ask me. THis isn't all that detailed, mostly because I haven't really listened to this album a whole lot.

Death Magnetic- Metallica

So, let's get serious here. Metallica isn't known as the American Pioneers of THrash Metal for nothing. For those of you who are a big fan of Metallica, you will of course know that the past ten+ years of Metallica, haven't been the best. I know a lot of fans who say Metallica died after the Black Album was made. I can see why they say that. The albums after that, even the Black Album itself, was no where near the monsterous albums Metallica had already made before then.

But then again, Bob Rock never touched those albums. As soon as Rock entered Metallica's picture, the albums went downhill to a lot of fans. After the dissappointment of St. Anger, the fans had enough of ROck, and requested his removal. Rock was removed, and for the next album, Metallica brough in the big gun. His name is RIck Rubin, he is known as the most important producer of our time, and has produced monstrous albums such as Slayer's Reign in Blood, System of a Down's TOxicity, and Rage Against the Machine's title album.

Years went by of recording. Finally, on September 12th, Death Magnetic was released to the world, and it remained the number 1 album around the world for three straight weeks. Metallica was the first band to make an album that popular.

I bought the album, and was amazed. The album had the old sound again for the fans of old Metallica, and a promising future in Metallica. No song dissappointed me. Every song, except for My Apocalypse, was 6 minutes or more in length, with the longest track being the instrumental Suicide and Redemption lasting almost 10 minutes.

The album opens with That Was Just Your Life which begins not with guitars or any instruments, but with a heartbeat. THe beat goes on, then you hear guitars start to enter with a creepy sound effect in that melody. You then hear the heavy stuff come in suddenly, and the thrill that this will be a good album enters your body.

The album's ballad The Day That Never Comes also has it's fame. The ballad brings back riffs and melodies similiar to those found in two other famous ballads the band has produced, Fade to Black, and One.

Cyanide is probably the one other famed song in the album. It was the first track performed live. The bass and drum set riffs are awesome.

Suicide & Redemption as the instrumental is amazing. Nearing ten minutes in length, it has it's heavy riffs at the beginning, the soft melody in the middle, then the rock out end.

And of course, the album ends with a thrash song My Apocalypse. This song is awesome, and Lars drum beats stay in time! The album St. Anger had some rather disappointing tempos in areas. No doubt the song was a near perfect way to end a thrilling comeback album by Metallica.

Death Magnetic is probably Metallica's third best album, nearing the fame achieved by Master of Puppets and ...And Justice for All. James Hetfield's voice is as aggressive as ever, and in key. Kirk Hammet's guitar is still producing some very epic solos. Lars Ulrich has found the tempo and is even using double bass again. And RObert Trujillo? DOn't get me started. He was the perfect replacement. If Burton never died, Trujillo would be his equal I believe. Death Magnetic is a must have for Metallica fans everywhere. MEtallica has brought back an old phrase used in 1983. "METAL UP YOUR ***!!"

9.5/10

Death Magnetic VS All Hope is Gone

So back to what's the heavier? I believe I've made my point with Death Magnetic outreaching All Hope is GOne for some obvious reasons. Yes, All Hope is GOne is a great album, but Metallica has had more experience with this buisness and knows how to make a good album.

Winner: Death Magnetic
