Neverending Quest (Platinum OU)
The lineup:
http://www.freewebs.com/diamondchamp/azelf.png Azelf @ Choice Scarf Naive 4 ATK/252 SPATK/252 SPD Explosion Stealth Rock Trick Psychic I decided to try out a trick lead lately, and it's brought me mixed results. It does a good job of forcing suicide leads to GTFO, and Azelf himself is strong enough to deal some punishment. He gets rocks up and then blows himself up (after tricking a scarf onto something). http://guidesmedia.ign.com/guides/9846/images/snorlax.gif Snorlax @ Choice Band Adamant 4 HP/252 ATK/252 SPDEF Selfdestruct Body Slam/Return...? Earthquake Fire Punch I love CBLax. He dishes out a load of damage, and with Thick Fat and a SPDEF of 319 (paired with 462 HP), he's my main Heatran counter as well as a pseudo-Special Wall. I've been considering using Return recently, to get that extra power for KOing troublesome opponents. http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa285/krisda1/infernape.png Infernape @ Life Orb Timid 4 HP/252 SPATK/252 SPD Focus Blast Nasty Plot Grass Knot Flamethrower Replaced Close Combat with Focus Blast and redid EV's. Hope Focus Blast hits... http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l319/Obi-Ben/gyarados.jpg Gyarados @ Life Orb Adamant 252 ATK/4 DEF/252 SPD Dragon Dance Waterfall Ice Fang Stone Edge Gyara... enough said. One of the best sweepers in the game, and he cleans up after everything's weakened. I love the look on my opponents faces when I OHKO their Zappy with +1 Ice Fang/Stone Edge (don't even know why they'd bother switching Zappy into Gyara, though). http://faqsmedia.ign.com/faqs/image/ani230.gif Kingdra @ Leftovers Adamant 168 HP/188 ATK/152 SPD Rest Sleep Talk Waterfall Outrage I changed to Dragon Dance + Rest Talk, because the defensive Rest Talker's damage output was pathetic. http://www.freewebs.com/izzie1/Vaporeon.gif Vaporeon @ Leftovers Bold 188 HP/252 DEF/68 SPATK HP Electric Surf Protect Wish Issues I've had... STALL: The ever annoying stall teams. Seriously, I hate these guys. They really piss the hell out of me as I get entry hazards all over my side of the field and everything's statused and loses their items. Revenge Killers: Now, I'm left without any revenge killers... I need one. Comments? What really threatens my team? And what sets should I use for Kingdra? Should I get a better lead? And which Pokemon (besides Rhyperior) should I replace, and with whom should I replace him? |
I honestly don't know why everybody chooses to forgo Selfdestruct on CBlax when it can OHKO just about anything in the game bar ghosts and some REALLY bulky rock and steel types (even standard Skarmory can be OHKOed). When your LAx is at ~30% health it's very useful and almost always nets me a kill...I don't know why it isn't more widely used. I would use it over Crunch since Fire Punch does enough to Gengar (OHKOs with SR down iirc). Selfdestruct is way more useful.
For Mixape, if you REALLY want to kit opposing Vaporeon, giving it more attack and dropping soem SAtk is actually a good move (or you can run Focus Blast if you don't mind the shaky accuracy, which will OHKO Vaporeon after NP). CC does a lot to Vaporeon as it is - giving it more Atk EVs will do away with it or severely weaken it. Resttalk Kingdra should be taken out imo. It can't do anything with 95 base attack and nothing boosting it. It's just going to get set up on by Scizor/Zapdos/Suicune/etc. |
Seems as if Anti is following my idea of using Focus Blast Infernape. Honestly, it's the best option for it. It makes the whole "HP Ice vs. Grass Knot" argument moot since it OHKOs Salamence, Suicune, Vaporeon, etc...all after Stealth Rock damage. Selfdestruct is a must on CBLax, as it will OHKO most Skarmory and can also be a nice way to take out opposing Cursers. I also notice a...lack of natures on all your Pokemon bar Azelf. Mind filling us in ._.
Don't use Rhyperior without Sandstorm. He works best in Sandstorm, and with Max HP/Max Def, it can live crazy things, like a +5 Adamant Tyranitar's Earthquake. |
Changes made.
Anyways... I need a solid revenge killer now. Suggestions? |
Scarf Gengar/Heatran/Salamence are among the top revenge killers today.
|
Scarfmence sounds appealing. EV Spread?
|
If you want to go with Platinum's sterotypical approach, go with CBScizor, who destroys with Bullet Punch.
Or, you can be a cool kid and use ScarfCross/Gengar. Perhaps even a BandGross (Or whatever set you choose. =3) with Bullet Punch could help, as he's bulky enough to still have a purpose after he revenge kills. |
