Football (Soccer) Thread

Why was there no football thread before now? D:

Oh, and before we continue, by "football" I mean Association football, the sport popular throughout Europe and South America, and not American football, the sport popular in, well, America.

Anyway, football discussion and stuff. I suppose I'll begin with a simple question:

Which team/s do you support, and why?

For me, the only club is Plymouth Argyle. They're my hometown team, and I'll support them through good and bad. I've gone to games regularly since the start of the 2004/05 season, so this is my fourth season of supporting the Pilgrims. I don't support any other club, for the pure reason that I have no reason to. I don't particularly like glory hunters, or whatever you want to call them - the people who support the team of the moment simply because they're doing well.

And now, perhaps, some topical discussion. In English football, the third round draw for the FA Cup was held today, with some interetsing ties thrown up. Blue Square Premier side Barrow were handed a trip to Premier League Middlesbrough, Histon from the same league as Barrow have a home tie against Championship Swansea City, Forest Green play Derby County and Torquay will entertain Blackpool. In terms of the Big Four clubs, Manchester United were drawn away to Southampton, Chelsea at home to League One's Southend, Liverpool away at Preston and Arsenal at home to my beloved Plymouth Argyle.

This will be the first time in 22 years that Argyle have played Big Four opposition. The opponents that day, in a fourth round tie in the FA Cup, were also Arsenal, and also away. The Pilgrims were humbled that day by a score of 6-1 in favour of the Gunners. The season before that the two sides had 38 places between them. Last season, however, the two sides finished 28 places apart, ten less. Could an upset be on the cards for the men from Devon. I certainly bloody hope so, and I'll almost certainly be there to see whether we can or not. It'll be my first away game, though I've been trying to go to one all of this season. -_-;

So, if you're a fan of an English side, who did your team draw, and how do you fancy your chances?

I don't really follow English football much, but I suppose I go for Liverpool, mainly because Torres and Gerrard are in the squad.

I more follow Italian, Spanish and Serbian leagues.
Italian because the best free kicker of all time, Mihaljovic played for Lazio, and of course he is Serbian :).
Spanish I follow cause my friend is a big fan of Barcelona.
Serbian because I am part Serbian.

Main teams I go for and why:
Inter: Stankovic is one of my favourite players, and so is Ibrahimovic.
Barcelona: Krkic is one of my favourite youngsters and because I used to live in Barcelona street.
Red Star Belgrade: Supported them from my childhood and will always.
