My cat ran away..

The stupid maid left the door open and she got out, I've looked all over the neighborhood for her...I hope she's okay..

RaikaCastillo December 8th, 2008 2:21 PM

Try putting some food out for her. Also, does she have a collar? Finally, when you said you looked all over the neighborhood, did you go by car or did you go by foot. Cats like to hide when they're in unfamiliar surroundings and will generally not be seen near the road. Mine got out a few years ago but I looked around my neighbors' yards. I eventually found him hiding behind the garbage bins two doors up.

Anyway I hope you find her.

EDIT: Wait, you say the maid left the door open? Well, maybe you should make her help you look for the kitty.

Werepyre December 8th, 2008 2:22 PM

What worries me the most is the fact that we have alot of stray dogs around here, and I've seen one tear up a cat and eat it. She has a collar, and I left her some food on the porch.

Do you let your cat out of the house at all or is it a house cat?

Stronkadonk December 8th, 2008 2:24 PM

Call up a search party as well

I'm definitely not the one to like cats, but I hope you find yours.

Werepyre December 8th, 2008 2:24 PM

To Reaper: She's a Housekitten, only a few months old..

Thomas December 8th, 2008 2:24 PM

We have outside cat's and all we do when we can't find them is shake their food container or whistle. That usually works.

Werepyre December 8th, 2008 2:27 PM

To Thomas: That was the first thing I tried before going around the neighborhood.

Ah, a kitten
Well either it is interested as it has never been outside and will return hime, or it has gone out and got lost
I hate to ask but do you live near any busy roads?
I am personaly a cat lover and i hope you find her

Werepyre December 8th, 2008 2:31 PM

Reaper: I live near a busy road ..I checked..and didn't find her....

b7astoise December 8th, 2008 2:33 PM

dang that maid sucks, i hope you find your kitten too mane...try thinking of a lot ways to find her and just try em all i guess..

Zelda December 8th, 2008 2:41 PM

I really hope u find her...especially sonce it is young....if you don't already know I LOVE cats!!!

Werepyre December 8th, 2008 2:42 PM

Sorry about that, I just got back from looking for her again..no luck.

Tangerine Fox December 8th, 2008 3:11 PM

That's terrible! =(

Sometimes it takes a little time, but don't give up too soon! Try and get word out as much as possible and have others look for her, too. Food is important, which you've already done. Is there anything else the cat was attached to, like maybe a blanket? You could try carrying that with you while you search to encourage her to come to you when you find her?

Good luck, I hope you find her soon!

Werepyre December 8th, 2008 3:12 PM

She likes her squeaky mouse toy...I'll try that..

˚° ﺎ ﮟ סּ ﻛ °˚ December 8th, 2008 3:22 PM

i know it feels horrible, i've lost 4 cats myself =(

Weatherman, Kiyoshi December 8th, 2008 5:33 PM

BUSY ROAD?
STRAY CAT-MUCHING DOGS?
FEW MONTH OLD KITTEN???!!!/1

That can't get any worse than that.
Sorry.

You have my hope. I would hate to see an adorable kitten gone like that.
*sigh*...

Plus if it was a kitten, it probably didn't know to come to those sounds.

♣Gawain♣ December 9th, 2008 12:24 AM

Maybe.... you should call the local pound, and tell 'em your situation. I'm sure they'll understand.

Have you actually checked with your local pound? There is a chance they might have found her and she's probably safe. It never hurts to check and see if the pound has her. If not, tell them what Eon told you and maybe they can keep a look out for her, maybe even try letting your neighbors you know to keep their eye out. At least that way you know that if you arent able to find her, maybe they can catch her wandering somewhere or maybe they can happen to see her hiding behind their bins...or wherever. You could also try to make signs, that's seen in alot of movies too and it lets people look out for such a pet.

You have a maid? o.0 Nothing I can say about a maid... We don't have them in England unless your the Queen; Did the maid know you have a kitten? If she did she dosn't sound very smart and I wouldn't like to have somebody like that in the house I would get rid of her. About the kitten, you should call the pound and also put notices up in the church, school, youth center, any club or similar place. One of your nieghbours may have found the kitten and taken it in without knowing whose it was, you should knock around asking if anybody has seen her.

How old is the kitten? If she is very young and you havn't had her long chances are she won't come back on her own; whereas if you have had her for a while (6+ months) then it is likely she will know where her home is. I don't know what America have in place of the RSPCA but you should call whoever deals with animals locally, they should be able to help better than anybody here because they know the area better.

RaikaCastillo December 9th, 2008 9:40 AM

Vendak: We have the ASPCA, which is basically the same as your RSPCA. And most people in the U.S. don't have maids either, and that's why I didn't see at first that it was the maid who left the door open.

Werepyle: I agree with Vendak. You may consider giving the maid a pink slip for Christmas--unless it isn't your choice (i.e.: it's up to your folks)

Wulf December 9th, 2008 10:07 AM

Hey, I saw this on Starmen.
Sorry to hear that. Don't worry, he'll show up eventually. Cats usually know their way around.

The Confuzzler December 9th, 2008 10:07 AM

try putting out some food and alerting the neighbours. I, for one love all animals so i would hate to see a kitten go.. anyway like others have suggested check with the local pound and look around a bit more. Thats all the advice i can think of at the moment, i'll edit this if i think of anything more :)
