Gym Leader Ideas Anyone?
Ok... I want to create new gym leaders for a GBA LeafGreen game, but sad to say I suck at creating gym leaders... whatever...
So, I would like to know what people are looking for in gym leader challenges. Do you prefer leaders with mixed type pokemon? What about pokemon with the same attacks? Do you prefer insane challenges where to have to keep battling again and again before you actually win? I would like to know! Gym Leader: [Insert Name & gender] Pokemon 1) [Whoever and maybe a special attack] Lvl. **** 2) (repeat) 3) etc. etc. etc. This was one of my ideas: Gym Leader: Jacob (male) Lover of Eevee evolutions Pokemon 1) Jolteon lvl. 45 (pin missle, agility, sand-attack, spark) 2) Espeon lvl. 45 (psybeam, sand-attack, morning sun, psychic) 3) Vaporeon lvl. 45 (body slam, acid armor, sand-attack, waterfall) 4) Flareon lvl. 45 (flame wheel, sand-attack, tail whip, flamethrower) 5) Umbreon lvl. 45 (faint attack, sand-attack, shadow ball, curse) This was one of my ideas... maybe you all can do a hundred times better than me... I would like a mixture of lower lvl. gym leader and of course higher level gym leaders too. If any of you come up with some great Gym Leader ideas or descriptions, I will put you in my credits and graciously thank you for your time! |
I prefer leaders that specialize in a singular type, Ex: Blaine=Fire, Misty=Water, Chuck=Fighting, etc., I also enjoy pure attack leaders, with pokemon that have only level up moves, and power, powerful leaders are the best.
Gym Leader: Veronica (female) (Last Gym Leader) Denizen of the Darkness Pokemon 1)Umbreon -Dark- Lvl:55 - Moonlight/Faint Attack/Pursuit/Confuse Ray 2)Murkrow -Dark/Flying- Lvl:50 - Peck/Faint Attack/Night Shade/Taunt 3)Houndoom -Dark/Fire- Lvl:45 - Ember/Faint Attack/Bite/Roar 4)Crawdaunt -Dark/Water- Lvl:45 - Crabhammer/Taunt/Bubblebeam/Knock Off 5)Cacturne -Dark/Grass- Lvl:45 - Needle Arm/Faint Attack/Leech Seed/Ingrain |

What about a gym leader that only picks strong pokemon
|
Quote:
Machamp lv53 -Cross Chop- -Earthquake- -Something- -something- Alakazam lv53 -Ice Punch- -Psychic- -Fire Punch- -Thunderpunch- Yeah, two level 53 Pokemon destroy a level 55 team of "strong" Pokemon. :P |

Yeah, yeah, I know. They're all bordering Uber. Funny how two are weak to ice and two are weak to fighting, eh?

I like challenging Gym Leaders myself. None of this GSC Falkner crap. >_>
Name and gender: Nexus, male Pokemon: Claydol Lv52 - Reflect - Light Screen - Earthquake - Ice Beam Exeggutor Lv54 - Sleep Powder - Leech Seed - Psychic - Solarbeam Banette Lv52 - Will-o-wisp - Calm Mind - Shadow Ball - Thunderbolt Umbreon Lv51 - Toxic - Moonlight - Substitute - Faint Attack Houndoom Lv51 - Flamethrower - Crunch - Shadow Ball - Solarbeam Slowbro Lv52 - Surf - Calm Mind - Psychic - Ice Punch |
I prefer cut and dry, down to business gym leaders that actually mean something: no lameo lv.14 person placed right at the beginning of the game.
Gym Leader Kent (Grass) 1- Weepinbell lv.21 Poison Powder Growth Giga Drain Sludge Bomb 2- Shiftry lv.23 Shadow Ball Sunny Day Solar Beam Brick Break 3- Ludicolo lv.23 Ice Beam Water Pulse Synthesis Substitute 4- Numel lv.25 Body Slam Flamethrower Sandstorm Magnitude That would be a first gym leader after quite a bit of playing through the game. |
hm, heres one idea
Name:Angel Gender:Female Pokemon: -Gengar lv 50 -Staraptor lv 47 -Magmortar lv 51 -Milotic lv 51 -Bellossom lv47 -Porygon Z lv 49 This is of course a mixed team Here's another Gym leader idea for those badges "in the middle" Name:Serenity Gender:Female Pokemon: -Gyrados lv 35 -Milotic lv 35 -Gardevoir lv 36 -Gallade lv 36 -Delcatty lv 33 |
I've got two gym leaders; brother and sister actually. They have two different types, but it works to their advantage.
Name: Lily and JD Type: Water and Steel Position: Eight - Corsola {Lily's} [Surf, Rest, Mirror Coat, Toxic] - Magneton {JD's} [Thunderbolt, Tri Attack, Protect, Thunder Wave] - Slowking {Lily's} [Surf, Psychic, Rest , Sleep Talk] - Skarmory {JD's} [Drill Peck, Roar, Spikes, Toxic] This will be one of the most difficult in-game matches you have fought if these guys were in the game. |
FOOL! This is third gen! If you want to post your FOURTH-gen gym ideas, go elsewhere. I actually, got my idea from an originally fourth-gen thing, but had the sense to change it...

Sorry... I just love saying that. It's become one of my saying like "that's garbage" or something to that effect. Anyways, it's actually a very fine gym idea, except for the whole generation discrepancy.

I would love to see a Bug type Gym Leader that was actually competent. Bugsy from GSC sucked because Kakuna and Metapod were training fodder, and Scyther was dead to a rock throw, or to Poison and stall with Bayleef and switching. Seriously, Fury Cutter? Wing Attack might have worked. But now, we have Silver Wind.
Perhaps an endgame gym leader would start with a Ninjask who stalled, gained speed and BP'd to a Sweeper Scizor. A Forretress that laid down spikes and blew itself up. A Butterfree that fired off sleep and paralysis spells with Compoundeyes. And a finishing Pinsir that would sweep. Maybe an Omastar to guard against fires and rocks (Hey, he looks like a fossilized bug, and the Bug Catcher in Round 2 PkmnStad2 uses one). The problem with this would be the AI. But from my experience playing Shiny Gold, the Koga of the Elite Four had an Ariados that BP'd after several double teams. Even in RBY, Agatha would frequently switch Pokemon. So my guess is that its possible, but difficult. I would just like an end to the monotony of gym leaders with nothing but poor sweepers and trash movesets, which are only excusable early on. Quote:

I'm sorry it's taken me quite a long time to get back on here. TT_TT
BUT! I'm liking a majority of your ideas here people! I was planning on doing a little in game training before we ever got to the first gym leader anyhow with maybe a "training dojo" as a pre-requisite before ever going to a "real" gym anyhow... just an idea... so, h Poke, i like your idea of the first gym leader having their pokemon as least lvl 20 and not a single level under that :) -[JD]-, I like your idea of twins/duo gym leaders and might ask for your permission to use your idea :D Hope you don't mind! I also notice that dark and pyschic types would be nice, but somewhat common to me... also have a bug gym leader again in the games again... hmm... let me pull some ideas together and post them later ok? Thanks to all who have posted so far! :) Maybe some others might post some more! ( Just wishing... >_< ) |
hey man,it's cool but don't you think this goes to hack roms category?
