I love UU. "Why?" Cause

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfb/dpmfb323.png

Camerupt (M) @ Leftovers / Focus Sash
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 HP/78 Atk/180 Def
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power [Ice] / Explosion
- Stealth Rock

Mainly here to set up Stealth Rock. At the moment I'm running Leftovers, but I'm considering Focus Sash to ensure I get it in. Also counters Ninetales to an extent and KOs back with Earthquake. Nasty Plot'd Energy Ball doesn't KO if at full health. Haven't really used HP Ice either, so considering Explosion to net that last minute kill.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfb/dpmfb049.png

Venomoth (F) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 80 HP/178 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Bug Buzz
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Psychic / Sleep Powder

I only really ever use Bug Buzz anyway, but the other moves are here anyway. Choice Spec'd Tinted Lens Bug Buzz murders almost everything, even netting a 2HKO on the most commonly seen DDAltaria. HP Ground hit Probopass and Aggron who still manage to 2x resist Bug Buzz and are immune to Sludge Bomb. Not sure what to use in the last slot. I already have Sleep Powder on Victreebel and I'd prefer to run an all-attacking move set on Venomoth. Psychic also OHKOs Toxicroak, who 2x resist Bug Buzz (I still think it's a 2HKO though).

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfb/dpmfb071.png

Victreebel (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 42 HP/252 Atk/216 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Leaf Blade
- Sucker Punch
- Sleep Powder
- Swords Dance

Amazing mid to late game sweeper. I switch on something slower than Victreebel, hope that Sleep Powder hits, then Swords Dance. Then I hopefully sweep with Sucker Punch / Leaf Blade. Definitely got a huge boost in Platinum.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfb/dpmfb452.png

Drapion (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Sniper
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Night Slash
- Earthquake
- Ice Fang
- Cross Poison

This has been my weakest link so far. It can't even OHKO Absol with Cross Poison. I was looking for a bulky CBer for this slot, so if you have any suggestions, let me hear them. Night Slash + EQ + Ice Fang have really good coverage. I like it's resistances though. Not sure what I'm going to do here.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfb/dpmfb337.png

Lunatone @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/120 SAtk/136 SDef
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Psychic
- Signal Beam
- Earth Power
- Calm Mind

Such a good Pokemon. Psychic + Bug + Ground has really good coverage. Sponges Special Attacks really well, especially after a Calm Mind. It has been a very pleasant surprise on this team.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfb/dpmfb171.png

Lanturn (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 40 HP/80 Spd/138 SAtk/252 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Surf
- Charge Beam
- Sleep Talk
- Rest

I stole borrowed this from Dark_Azelf (I think) after I saw him using it. Sponges attacks really well. Deadly when it gets a boost from Charge Beam.

I don't know why I was doing OU for so long. I've never liked that tier. UU and NU have always been my favorite and playing with this team has reminded me why.

I know I lack a solid Fighting resist. Venomoth and Drapion don't cut it with Venomoth's subpar defenses and Drapion's neutrality to Fighting-type attacks/lack of Defensive EVs. I'm thinking a bulky ghost > Drapion.

Dark Azelf December 21st, 2008 7:49 AM

Firstly lol @ the title.

Anyway i wouldnt blow the camal up since it seems like a vital defensive core for your team (aka Ninetails). Some S.Def evs would be cool too >:

Lunatone : -

Lunatone wants some speed, 136 EVs is enough to beat out Adamant Crawdaunt's as well as Modest Omastar and Gorebyss, so that could be considered >> the S.Def evs.

Spoiler:
[email protected] Berry
252 SP.ATT / 252 SPEED / 6 DEF
Modest Nature
- Calm Mind / Charge Beam
- Earth power
- Hidden Power Rock / Ice Beam
- Substitute

Is a cool set too ;)

Anyways the biggest weak here is, you guessed it, Kabutops lol. As cool as the lanturn set is (i beat a blissey with it once lolol), something like a Rest Talk Poliwrath or heck STalk Quagsire could work >> Lanturn possibly to help with said weak ? CroWrath + CroSire lol

I know its blarg, but if you wanted a fighting resist, a Calm Mind Claydol could go >> Lunatone (since it kinda does the same job) ?

Just some thoughts =p.

EVs: 252 HP/78 Atk/180 Def
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Explosion For like you said the last minute kill or too kill powerful threats with low defences
- Stealth Rock

Mainly here to set up Stealth Rock. At the moment I'm running Leftovers, but I'm considering Focus Sash to ensure I get it in. Also counters Ninetales to an extent and KOs back with Earthquake. http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfb/dpmfb049.png

Venomoth (F) @ Wise Glasses for freedom instead of being locked into one move
Ability: Tinted Lens

Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Bug Buzz
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Sleep Powder Sleep powder over psychic for sleep HAX

I'm thinking a Banette/Sableye > Drapion.
Banette being pure ghost is weak against 2 types of attacks with shouldnt stop it from tricking a choice scarf to the opponent or sableye ghost/dark no weakness and can be a good CS or Regular Special Sweep

Yeah, I never use that third slot anyway. It's either EQ/Fire Blast/Stealth Rock/Die anyway.

Lunatone : -

Lunatone wants some speed, 136 EVs is enough to beat out Adamant Crawdaunt's as well as Modest Omastar and Gorebyss, so that could be considered >> the S.Def evs.

The SDef EVs have been a tremendous help, but I'll test it out with Speed EVs.

I really want to keep Lanturn as I just 6-0'd people with it alone. Are there any other possible candidates to go over Drapion? I've had problems with fast Physical sweepers the most.

I know its blarg, but if you wanted a fighting resist, a Calm Mind Claydol could go >> Lunatone (since it kinda does the same job) ?

No Claydol. Ever. lol

Just some thoughts =p.

I can't even decipher what you're saying in your post, so I'm going to ignore it now. And I want bulk in place of Drapion, not tough as a tissue Banette.

. December 21st, 2008 9:25 AM

You could try the standard boring old ResTalk Rotom, OR MAYBE A WEEZING SINCE YOU KNOW HE'S LIKE THE BEST FIGHTING RESIST IN UU :<

Sorry, but how could you forgot my beloved Weezing? It's immune to Toxic too, so Hitmontop can't beat this guy ;)

luke December 21st, 2008 10:35 AM

I do love Weezing. It's my fourth favorite Poison type (behind Skuntank, Victreebel, and Roserade), but it need something that can hit back hard and sponge physical attacks at the same time. Also, I'd prefer it to be a Choice Bander, as my team lacks something that can hit hard physically right away and can take a hit or two.

Anti December 21st, 2008 11:14 AM

Weezing doesn't have bad attack stats though, so you could make it into a more offensive pokemon (it could run Choice Specs well probably given its good special movepool), so it could work I guess.

But what do I know about UUs lol

. December 21st, 2008 11:23 AM

On Smogon, there is an offensive version of Weezing, and it can actually hit pretty hard. If you run Max Special Attack and a +Special Attack nature, Weezing actually makes it to 295. Sludge Bomb / Thunderbolt / Flamethrower / Pain Split is reliable, but Weezing has many other good choices; HP Grass, Shadow Ball, Fire Blast, Explosion, Dark Pulse, etc...

Samson December 21st, 2008 2:05 PM

drop sludge bomb on venomoth for psychic. sludge bomb might come in handy against pokes who get OHKOd/2HKOd by Bug Buzz anyway. psychic still has some predictive power, a lot more than sludge bomb at least.

keke, i have a crazy idea about your team woes. PARASECT! do it do it. you could run a CB set w/ spore. that way, you can give venomoth stun spore and parasect spore. or.. yeah, just run sleep on both XD the big concern of course would be that while you have a x3 fire resist, you'd have a x3 fire weak ._.

adamant CB dusclops hits 393.

sandlash makes a lousy CBer, but it could work i guess.

nidoking maybe?

CB whiscash is AWESOME. give it a try.

reflect Xatu makes a good staller with stab Drill Peck + Heat Wave for coverage.

is Medicham BL? a bulky variant is a stretch but it could work.

subattacking Honchkrow is a BEAST.

Quagsire @ Choice Band
Adamant Nature
252 Atk/ 252 HP/ 6 Spe or Def

Earthquake
Waterfall
Ice Punch/Avalanche
Stone Edge

could work to solve both of those problems. Granted, it is slow, but it can take a few hits from Tops. Of course, this would go >>drapion.

DonRoyale December 21st, 2008 2:49 PM

You could always try CBLee:

Hitmonlee @ Choice Band
Jolly
252 Attack / 252 Speed
-Blaze Kick / Bullet Punch / Mach Punch
-Close Combat
-Stone Edge
-Earthquake

(sketchy on if Lee even gets BP, so just take it out if not)

or, if you want more wallbreaking power, try a loveable friend of mine:

Sharpedo @ Choice Scarf
Hasty
EV's unknown (perhaps...80 Attack, 252 Special Attack, 176 Speed? I dunno. :#)
-Hydro Pump
-Earthquake
-Crunch
-Ice Beam

It helps wreck Sub dependees, so if you find yourself in Standard, Blaziken, the odd Heracross, and other Sub-Salac users will be wrecked.

If you're looking for physical power, of course.

EDIT: Forgot, bulky CBer. Sire or GTFO, use Scarf's set.

Yeah, and not only that, both of those are 2HKOed at least by +2 Stone Edge from Tops, IIRC. Tops also outspeeds them both in the rain (again IIRC).

EDIT: However, Lee might be able to OHKO with Mach Punch. Not sure how much Tops can do with +2 Aqua Jet though.

:( Everyone ignores me.

I read your comment on how you lack a fighting resist. You could put a RestTalk Rotom>> Lanturn if youwanted. I think the set is SHadow Ball/Charge Beam/RestTalk.

Samson December 21st, 2008 9:53 PM

meh quagsire is a better offensive option. if only it didn't look like a lump of lard and wasn't as vulnerable on the special end.

luke December 22nd, 2008 10:18 AM

So RestTalk Rotom > Lanturn
CBQuagsire > CBDrapion

Looks good to me. When I get on after work tonight, I'll test them out.
