rampage333 September 9th, 2004 2:30 PM

LOL We don't have e-reader functions here in Europe for Ruby/Sapphire, Satoshi-kun. Get over it :-p

Absol upon a time September 11th, 2004 3:40 AM

I think it is a shame we don't have E-reader functions here, however, I went on holiday and bought a GBA SP, E-reader and Pokemon Sapphire...this was a while ago by the way, and i have hardly used the e-reader functions much as I don't understand what they are used for much....

NiNGi September 11th, 2004 3:45 AM

Is the E-Reader that thing that reads cards?
I heard long ago that some pokemon can only b gotten with that, but which ones? :o

Toothache September 11th, 2004 3:48 AM

No, the measurements are still in feet and lbs. (I assume you mean for the Pokemon heights and weight). And I don't know why we got stiffed out of having the e-reader, it's a strange move by Nintendo IMO.

NiNGi September 11th, 2004 6:18 AM

I perfectly agree with ya satoshi kun ._.'

Mr Cat Dog September 11th, 2004 7:13 AM

It's so unfair about the stupid e-reader. According to NoE:

Who on earth did they interview? Grandparents who are paralysed from the shoulders down? People who had never even heard of Nintendo.... AND the US and Australia got Animal Crossing YEARS before Europe... it still hasn't come out yet! [/hyperventilation]

Anyways, on topic - it might not take exactly 250 days, since there were different Pokemon to catch, so that would have taken a couple or so days extra. And there was the lag that Satoshi-kun mentioned... so it might take even less... hopefully.

AdamHays September 12th, 2004 9:23 AM

i heard sometime in july next year.

That is sad… I agree, they must've interviewed people who couldn't care less…

Either that, or 94% of their responses were "don't call me during dinnertime!"

NiNGi September 12th, 2004 10:15 AM

"Don't call me during my dinnertime" XD Lmao

Anyway, sadly this does not happen only with nintendo... there are a looooot of japanese games which make a big success there and are good ideas, but since they think western ppl would not like em they dont release them in europe and most of the times in america too...

This suks hard but thats how it goes.... I guess Japanese people are enjoying themselves with all those privileges... :\

Porygon September 12th, 2004 10:17 AM

I think we should all learn Japanese and just buy Japanese games…

NiNGi September 12th, 2004 10:29 AM

Lmao! I am already learning Japanese and I can speak it pretty well XD

Absol upon a time September 12th, 2004 10:36 AM

I am also trying to learn Japanese, and seem to be doing well in some aspects. How are you learning Japanese Ningi? I have a few Japanese games namely Magical Vacation, Black Matrix Zero, Tales Of Phantasia and Tales Of The World: Narikiri Dungeon 2. These are very hard to understand if you don't have a basic knowledge of Japanese. Back to the topic, I can't understand why they haven't released the E-reader here, it is not as if the games they are used for are not popular because they are. I also agree they must have interviewed people who wouldn't care if the E-reader came to Europe or not.

KiraYamato September 12th, 2004 10:42 AM

Well, I personally think the e-reader was a waste of money, it was also proven in sales to be one of nintendo's biggest failures for the gb (in the US and in Europe) I know it did good in japan, but by the time it came in the US and Europe, The pokemon card game had allready lost alot of popularity. So, I dont really have a problem with not having e-card reader functions, I'd rather not have to get cards to get stuff, If youve already bought the game then you shouldnt have to worry about buying other stuff to just get further in the game. So, yeah im fine with it, and im sure im not the only person who is fine with it too.

Toothache November 1st, 2004 9:01 AM

I'd rather you just copy/pasted the relevant text rather than post a link, but still good for finding this out.

Projected UK/European Release Date: April 2005
Projected US: 1st December 2004

At least, according to this site. Those are estimates, so we don't know a confirmed date yet.

Merron November 1st, 2004 9:39 AM

You're mean, LoL. Anyway, I am sad to hear that certain features will no longer be available, and do feel sorry for all the peeps over there in Europe. I bought an E-reader just a couple of months ago, however, and to be completely honest, I haven't found much use for it. I think I missed out on a lot of the scanable goodies. :P

kohei November 3rd, 2004 1:30 AM

I never knew you can't use E-reader on the Europian verion of Ru/Sa until I read this...
Oh well
*Plays Emerald*

Elite Four Lance November 3rd, 2004 2:07 AM

Emerald is cool. I´ve seen some pictures on the game.

Somamil November 3rd, 2004 2:55 AM

Well, I still thik the idea of learning Jap and playing Jap games is better, what if Nintendo just remove some functions from Emerald for the US version??? like what they did in Crystal, I'm not sure what they might remove though or not remove anything at all....haven't really played my Emerald ROM..

santadidit102 November 3rd, 2004 5:53 AM

Projected North American Release Date: 1st December 2004. Canada United States of America
