And Sorceror of Dark Magic can only be summoned after Dark Magician comes out, so it's even worst in terms of speed... doesnt' really count as a user since you will need Dark Magician out first.

It is a nice card against swarm, but the usage requirement just kills people... scapegoat went down from 3 to 1 too, so the appearance of swarm goes down even more... There's still gravekeepers and occassionally zombies, but that's about it. Nowadays, people may choose not to summon whenever they can for the sake of reserving resources. You don't have much draw cards anymore, and there's always the chance of being hit by a black hole/torrential. When that happens, you want to conserve one monster or so in your hand to protect your field from being empty empty after the mass removal. With mindsets like that, not too many people will swarm that easily, unless they know that they are close to winning and the opponent's resources are depleted.

Zaikiro October 18th, 2005 6:30 PM

Dark Magican of Chaos + Diffusion Motion Wave and other cards to make a combo. For example. Metorian and Robbing Goblin = 3.8/5 for both formats in a deck with 2 more level 7 or higher spellcasters.

Let's review some new cards that we see a lot in this format.

Frostweaver October 18th, 2005 8:02 PM

Cyber Dragon: (total + 1) / total, what else is there to say about it

Frosty's guess- Cyber Dragon will definitely be restricted in one way or another (2 probably. Down to 1 is too harsh, but letting 3 lose is too chaotic as well) by next ban list. It fits very well into chaos sorceror decks too, being a light type. It's just insane.

Smashing Ground and Sakuretsu Armor has always been good. They aren't used as much in the previous format because of goats, and these two cards are no good against goats. Now that goats are gone, of course these cards can come back. Cyber Dragon is absolutely in every single deck basically, and besides another Cyber Dragon, there is no non-tribute monster (excluding those whose alternative name is "trample me please") that can take out Cyber Dragon without some attack boost. Therefore, it's best to use some traps and magics to take out the Cyber Dragons that's so easily summonable, which promotes these two cards once again.

Ozone Layer October 18th, 2005 8:09 PM

Talk about Cyber Dragon so let talk about some fusion one and new cards
Two this card are the Ultra rare card.Do anyone have it.And it Effect strong too.Two this monster appear in Yu-Gi-Oh GX.Anybody watch it? It soo cool...
http://www.pokeshop.com/modules/Card_Gallery/pics/147/CyberEndDragon.jpg http://www.pokeshop.com/modules/Card_Gallery/pics/147/CyberTwinDragon.jpg
And by the way I had that card call Sakuretsu Armor

Frostweaver October 18th, 2005 8:13 PM

Cyber End requires its specific deck, while Cyber Twin can still be used in generic decks. It never enjoyed the absolute raw power that it's suppose to have. Machine decks loath it because it is the very reason why they lost their best support card- Limiter Removal. Doubt that Cyber End can make its own deck anymore since Metamorphsis is down to 1...

You may just be able to save yourself from Lava Golem once in awhile with the metamorphsis that is suppose to turn into Thousand Eyes Restrict. Leave it in the fusion deck (as always with many other fusions) and it may just come in handy in strange moments.

Ozone Layer October 18th, 2005 8:30 PM

Some monster are special summon by another monster at the least LV like

http://www.pokeshop.com/modules/Card_Gallery/pics/114/HorustheBlackFlameDragonLV8.jpg
That might be the good technique for our deck.

Frostweaver October 18th, 2005 9:38 PM

But lv monsters (except lv 2 mystic swordsman, i guess) can't be splashed into decks randomly. Lv monsters pretty much have to have a dedicated theme deck to themselves, unlike Cyber Dragon which fits into 80% of all decks.

Speaking of Horus, I think Horus family is the only level family in which the final monster in the evolution line may not always be the one that is the most helpful ^^; lv 8 is usually better, but there are times where 6 is the one you want. This isn't true for all other lv monsters I think, where it's always better to have the higher level one.

Soul Resurrection: EXACTLY like Call of the Haunted ("removed from the field" includes "destroyed", dudes), except it goes in defense position (for a wall), Normal monsters ONLY, and it's unlimited. However, I've got a BEWD deck, a Dark Magician deck, AND a Normal-Monster-SWARM deck, and I've NEVER needed/wanted to use this card. It's one to side at best.

Diffusion Wave-Motion: Only TRULY useful when countering monster swarms. 'Nuff said.

It is card of the week, but we changed it meaning by far =/

They were good anginst goat "control" though.

Insane is not the word to describe it. Really chatotic is better.

And by the way I had that card call Sakuretsu Armor

We reviewed Cyber Twin Dragon 2 pages back.

Cyber End Dragon. The most broken machiene next to Jinzo. Liter is limited though.=/

UDE saw this coming. Good call.

I will review Lv6 seperate.

4 and 8. In a horus deck, both formats.

Level 4 . 3.1/5
Level 8. 5.0/5

Level 6 can evade any spell card on the field, which makes it very useful and I mean very.

It's good in this format and traditional.
Traditional: 4.0/5
Advenced: 4.4/5

Cyber Dragon.
Traditional:3.6/5
Advenced:4.3/5

Smashing Ground
Traditional: 2.6/5
Advenced:3.4/5

Sakaretsu Armor
Traditional:2.5/5
Advenced:3.5/5

Each of these cards have their own good effect. Which shows whey they earned their Short Print and Super Rare rarity.

Well that's my review.*goes and watch Bleach*

Mystic Swordsman, mainly due to the fact that LV4 and 6 don't require the one before them...LV4 is better than LV6 for this fact and that it can be set without tribute (and it has a pretty good DEF for a 4-star, too--enough to stop Breaker/Don/Blade Knight)...Other than that...Ultimate Insect, Armed Dragon, Silent Magician,.....Oh yeah! Silent Swordsman. Usually you won't want LV7 out there since it negates YOUR spells as well...Also, Dark Mimic LV1 can work better than LV3 in that you can fllip it back face-down to get another card out of it using Tsuku/BoM.........Winged Kuriboh is the only other one that I can think of (even though, technically, the original isn't a LV monster), and the LV1 form can be better if your opponent's running a burn deck. Also, it doesn't require that you get rid of 4 of your other cards just to play.

Anyway...

Cyber End and Cyber Twin can work in ANY deck, and two words prove it: Cyber Stein. These cards were practically MADE for it. I mean, they're all called CYBER ********* for a reason...Or, just use even ONE Cyber Dragon with some monster-control cards (Brain Control, Enemy Controller, Snatch Steal) and a Power Bond...more times than not, you'll find that you have enough to bring one of them out.

digi-kun October 19th, 2005 5:59 PM

excuse me if it's here already...and also since i don't think it'll really "fit in" anywhere else so i'll put it here...if not i'll go ahead and delete this post

anyways, here are the "Egyptian Demons" opposite of the gods, appear in GX and'll probably end up Collector's Material like the Gods

Phantom Demon Emperor Ravel
ATK: 4000 DEF: ????
Sacrifice 3 Monsters on your Field to Normal Summon this Monster. When your opponent Summons or Special Summons a Monster, Special Summon 1 Phantom Demon Token (ATK 1000/DEF 1000) to the Field {in defense position?}. Sacrifice 2 Monsters on your Field in order to increase this Monster's ATK by the ATK of the sacrificed Monsters for the remainder of this turn.
(Probably only shown in the show in Attack Position)

God Flame Emperor Uria
ATK: X000 DEF: X000
Sacrifice 3 Trap cards on your field in order to Normal Summon this Monster. This Monster's ATK and DEF is 1000 times the number of Trap cards in your Graveyard. Once per turn you can destroy one Trap card on the Field. If the card is Face-Down flip it, if is a Trap card destroy it, if not return it Face-Down {Effect is not activated?}. You can discard 1 Trap card from your hand to Special Summon this Monster from your Graveyard. In the turn this card is Summoned this way and there are no Monsters on the Field besides this one, this card cannot attack this turn.
(Probably only used in attack, but the effect explained)

Descending Thunder Emperor Hamon
ATK: 4000 DEF: ????
Sacrifice 3 Spell cards in order to Normal Summon this Monster. When this Monster destroys a Monster as a result of battle, do 1000 damage to your opponent's Life Points.
(Probably only used in Attack)

They are the first 3 ultra rares from the set Shadow of Inifity, but not much is confirmed yet.

Frostweaver October 19th, 2005 11:54 PM

Trap card shall finally rise in glory once again! (if the God Flame Emperor Uria's text effect is real). The recursion is so easy, while at the same time boosting the beast's attack by 1000 again, that it's not funny. It makes Phoenix's recursion effect look stupid in comparison O.o;

By the way, how hard is it to lay down 3 trap cards in one turn anyway...

The one dealing with traps is by far the strongest, simply because it got recursion and the other two doesn't. The magic one is technically more powerful but much more vulnerable (no self-recursion) against the dangerous traps, or hit by smashing ground and the likes.

The monster one is just inferior compare to its 2 relative... it's terribly slow in speed requiring 3 monster summons, and its effect isn't that much better. True that it can self-boost its attack too by tokens, which is technically easier than dumping traps somehow, but the attack boost isn't permanent unlike that of the trap boost. For the trap recursion, hey I honestly don't mind reviving my monster on top of boosting 1000 attack too ^_^ (trap card dumped for recursion is a trap card in the grave yard, right?)

Uria screams for a Return from the Different from the Different Dimension and Dimension Fusion in case if it runs into an evil DDA/DDWL...

Oh dear if Uria there is real and has that exact word text, I'm adding soul release + royal decree in my deck O.o; That card better be either not real, or not have that as its exact card text >>;

Forci Stikane October 20th, 2005 2:25 PM

Uria......Set Dark Coffin, Sattue of the Wicked, and Kokazy's Self-Destruct Button...OW!!!

Then set more and bring more of these out......OUCH!!!!!!!

Set 3 Statues and Summon it, then sac the 3 Statues next turn to bring out the Ravel.........GG!!

These cards were probably meant to work with E-Hero Tempester...

You do know that you take the damage if you destroy Kokazy's Self-Destruct Button yourself?

I don't think tribute and destroy are the same =0

...Where did Mind Control come from...?

...Well, I supose it was more for Uria that I was talking...basically, since you can send ANY card on your side of the field to the graveyard for Tempester's effect, you can send a Trap card away to give Uria invincibility from battle AND another 1000-point boost, then keeping sending Trap cards to the graveyard to protect your other monsters (JINZO) while powering up Uria for one grand direct attack.

Opps, I though you said MC...sorry

What is MN though?

What is Tempester?

Uria would do best in a Spell Cancller deck.

Edit: oh Temepst. You could use cost traps like Raigeki Break?

Magic Cylinder- normal trap

Negate the attack of 1 of your opponent's monsters and inflict Direct Damage equal to the atacking monster's ATK to your opponent's Life Points.

Since the current metagame has increased the amount of traps by 1 (from the usual 4/5 up a bit to 5/6), maybe it's more tolerant to trap cards now. Usually, the standard can include

-Call of the Haunted (definite staple)
-Torrential Tribute (safe to say, staple)
-Sakuretsu Armor in multiples
-Bottomless Trap Hole in multiples

Strangely enough, royal decree didn't get as much play as estimated in comparison to these 4 traps. Widespread Ruin is sometimes in use over Sakuretsu armor in conjunction to DD Warrior Lady or DD Assailant.

What about magic cylinder? It can be insane burn damage on top of blocking one attack (and usually, there's usually 1 monster out on the opponent's field, or 2 monsters- one usually being Cyber Dragon- at most anyway, unless cyber jar just flipped,) so this card may not be too bad. How does everyone feel about this normal trap card?

Zaikiro October 25th, 2005 4:42 PM

The most common lineup now is

Torrential Tribute
Call of the Haunted
Sakaretsu Armor/Bottomless Trap Hole
Sakaretsu Armor/Bottomless Trap Hole
Sakaretsu Armor/Bottomless Trap Hole
Dust Torando
Dust Torando
Dust Torando

Decrees loses play because the tier 1 is arrgo now and Jinzo is one of the best tributes to run in arrgo because of it offensive atack and effect to atack and win. The same reason it was played in the beatdown era.

Magic Cylinder

This card was orignally a staple when it came out. Along with Mirror Force and Call of the Haunted. Torrenital Tribute was played but not much since Dark Hole was not banned yet. Sad it it did'nt be looked as staple as it it until Dark Hole was banned. Magic Clyinder has staple to all in the Labryinth of Nightmare era to the Pharaonic Guardian era until Ring of Decruction came and took it's spot . Also due to release of Scapegoat and it being unrestricted.

Magic Clyinder have been in many championship side decks. Still is now. And was even main decked in the winner of the Geon Indy tournament in august.

Will it gain play agian now? mabye.

It was one of the top best cards of 03.

In overall. It's a orignal. One of my favorite traps and always will be.

Rating: Side Deck
Traditional: 3.9/5
Avdanced:4.6/5

Main Decks:
Traditional:3.4/5
Avdanced:4.2/5

That is how I feel.

Tempest,E-Hero Tempester
Wind/Warrior - Fusion/8/2800/2800
[E-Hero Sparkman] + [E-Hero Featherman] + [E-Hero Bubbleman]
This card can only be Special summon by Fusion Summon. Put a card other than this card on
your field to Graveyard, and select a monster on your field. As long as this card
is face-up on your field, that monster cannot be destroy as a result of battle (Damage
Calculation would still applied)
Ultra/Ultimate Rare

I get your point. I though it was the hand and not the field >__>

It could work well with cards like Statue of the Wicked.

I though you were talking about traps to increase Uria's atack.

Edit: They are the ultra rares now. 3 out of 4.

It's killing three birds with one stone--send a Statue to the Graveyard to protect Uria, get a Statue Token, AND power Uria up by 1000 all at once.

What are you talking about, the Demons in Shadow of Infinity or the Elemental Heroes in Elemental Energy?
