I used to be die-hard anti-Sony. Mainly I resented the PS2's popularity while the Gamecube anguished into obscurity. It just wasn't fair. Nintendo made a console that looked better than the competition, had a superior controller, and also a better name. But in the end there was nothing we could do to save it.
Ah well. Now Nintendo's making crappy games for "everyone" by the minute and Reggie can go burn in the eternal flames of a world before video games. |

...But thinking back, it was really only something I would do out of envy. I mean to be honest, outside of a few good games that no one's ever heard of, aside from me (Baten Kaitos, PSO), and a few nintendo franchise game, the gamecube...really didn't have that many exclusive games for its older audience. I mean yeah, it had RE4 as an exclusive for a while, but even that eventually made its way over the the PS2 ._. |
I don't mind the PS3. I think it's a great console with a lot of potential, but I think the fact that it's (apparently) so hard to program for, plus its cost ($150-200 more than the other consoles) really sets it at a disadvantage. The 360 is more of a community-oriented console with the different gaming events that happen on an almost daily basis, Xbox Live being the best online gaming experience on either console, in my opinion the NXE is much sleeker and user friendly than the XMB, and stuff like gamerscore and achievements gives you more to do in games other than just beat them. So I prefer the 360, yes, but in no way do I think the PS3 is a bad console.
The Wii on the other hand...so much potential down the drain with that poor overclocked Gamecube with waggle...seriously, it could have had some awesome games that make good use of the motion control (and it does have some, like Metroid, Zack and Wiki, and Trauma Center), but Nintendo is satisfied with Wii Music, Petz, and Imagine! crap on its console instead of real games. Plus the online is just a total wreck. |
For me, 360 > PS3 > Wii.
:( The PS3 is ONLY behind because its library isn't as refined yet and... mostly for the reasons Mork mentioned. But I do really like it. It has my favourite controller by far. The Wii just has very little of interest for me. Brawl was fun and everyone mentions all these great titles for Wii but... I just don't care enough. I have all the others and if I have the extra money to buy games, I'm going to get games for them because they're higher up on my "want" list. |
Using the Wii remote is hard. I prefer Game Cube. Yeah Super Mario Galaxy should totally get a Game Cube version.
|
Baten Kaitos was ok, but I just didn't get into it. Normally I like a card oriented game but the combat was just too complex and random ;x
|
I was fine with everything in Baten Kaitos except... the voice acting. They borked up the recording or something because everyone sounded like they were talking through a tube and it was the most annoying thing ever. :( I got a few hours in and just couldn't play anymore.
|
I never tried Baten Kaitos. I'm not a big fan of card-based RPGs, and apparently BK's battle system is similar to Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, which I didn't care for. So that's one series I passed on.
|
Agreed. Before 2 weeks ago i hated the black box of sony cause of its rpice and supposedly no new games but now im dying to get one cause i really want PS2 games. Crappy thing is the no saves for PS2 games if you get it just for that reason. But i really want one for devil may cry 4 resistance 2 little big planet and other games. AND THE PS3 is more easy to hook up then the wii.
|
I got Baten Kaitos from a friend a couple of years ago and I never played further than the first boss. I didn't like the battle style at all, even if I'm a big RPG fan. Card-based battles are not my thing, definitely :[
|
I kinda liked Baten Kaitos, it was weird and funny. XD; I finished it too, but the ended... Was really long and kinda sucked. :|
And Nica, can't you hook up the Game Cube controller to the Wii? [/doesn't have a Wii, plz dun shoot me] |

I don't like the majority of games that are out for 360, but PS2 is good (haven't heard much about PS3) and I love the Wii. I guess I'm just more of a kid at heart when it comes to games in general, so I stick to my favorites in Mario, Link, Starfox, etc. Plus Wii games still have loads of potential, I mean the system doesn't necessarily have to kick the bucket in five years. Granted other companies might be delving further into advanced technology to surpass what the Wii is capable of and/or completely owning it in features, etc. yet I don't see why older systems can't just evolve with upgrade packages or installments, especially with the online capabilities now. They shouldn't have to make a "new Wii" in five years, same goes for the other systems. They should just allow you to purchase a system upgrade like you can with personal computer packages. |
Who starts the topics around here? Anybody?
|
I still need to pick up either a 360 or a PS3...I feel like I'm missing out on way too many great games. I can sort of keep up with some games for my laptop, but it doesn't seem the same =/
|
I'll never get those systems, as by the time I can afford them, they'll be yesterday's news. XDD

PS3 > 360 > Game Cube > Wii for me.
For me PS3 is amazing because (for some reason) I like the graphics more than on the 360. It also has amazing games, such as Resistance, Killzone, and others. Now I'm mainly just waiting on inFamous and God of War III to come out. These are suppose to be good games with alot of expectation coming from both highly, successful gaming companies. 360 comes in second place because of the games and graphics. Don't get me wrong, I like the Halo series and Gears of War series, but they got old to me awhile ago. Game Cube is in third because it's just plain awesome. I remember staying up playing Super Smash Bros. Melee and Mario Galaxy (is that what it is???). Wii sucks. Period. Super Smash Bros. Brawl was the only good thing that came out of it. Seriously. The only consoles I got so far are Game Boy(the classic), GameCube, and DS Lite. Recently I got the DS Lite. I wish I got a Wii, but I am afraid it might be collecting dust just like the GameCube. I don't play video games often. The most I will play is about 30 minutes to an hour. And then I turn off the game.
I got Mario Kart DS, Chrono Trigger DS, and Naruto: Ninja Destiny for my DS Lite. The next games I want to get is Diamond, The New Super Mario Bros., and Cooking Mama. I can't get 360, PS3, or Wii because I don't have the money for them. And plus the DS Lite and the GameCube is fine. I might get the Wii someday. |
Just a Laptop, PS2 and DS for me...I'm actually very satisfied with all three, as I can play most of the games I want to play. Maybe I'll save up for something else though =P
|
Yeah I am satisfied with my DS Lite, computer, tv, mp3 player, and other stuff. XD Might get a laptop someday. Heck, I got myself a digital camera. Now I just need a laptop. I love getting electronics. I blame my dad for that. He loves getting that stuff. The only thing he doesn't care for is video game consoles. But the other stuff...he does. Me, my brother, and my dad are the electronic loving geeks. :D
|
I have a PS2, PS3, 3 DS, PSP and a Gamecube. I have way to many consoles. I will have to sell them at some point so I have some money. All the prices increasing is leaving me cutting back on buying new things.
I am just about to buy a new TV. I can't wait to get a 32" in my room. I am always getting the latest gadgets. xD |
I'm still on the original DS. Was going to buy a Lite, but why bother when the DSi will drop in March/April?

Still, aside from the terrible voice acting, it's a pretty good game with a decent storyline. If you haven't played it, you should just give it a shot. I mean it's 4 years old now, so you could probably pick it up for like $15 at gamestop. ...Just to clarify, this is "eternal wings and the lost origin" we're talking about, not "origins," which sucked >_> Edit: Oh, and for the record: 360>PS3>Wii |
I was thinking about waiting for the DSi, but then I realized that it doesn't have a GBA port. I would like the play some Game Boy Advance games on it. So I went ahead and got the DS Lite. But the DSi seems pretty nice. It got a camera and other cool stuff. So it isn't a total loss.
|
I personally wouldn't get the DSi for one I love playing old GBA games and having a camera isn't my thing as I have a camera for that already.
|
I was originally was planning to save up for a DS Lite, but instead I planned to get a GBA SP before I planned for DS Lite. >.<
PS3 > Wii > 360 Why? PS3 - Even know I don't have one, but I played World Tour at GameStop. And that was just awesome of the graphics. Wii - Before I got the Wii, I really wanted Brawl by then. And for many months, I had to deal with only two games which are Aerosmith, and SSX Blur. >.< 360 - Why last? Because of how I heard it can't be fix with the Red light thing, and it seems like it's the first one to be broken before the PS3 or the Wii. >.< |
