How can a Dugtrio use fury swipes?

I was playing FR and i found a Dugtrio then it used Fury Swipes.
How could something with three heads possibly use this attack.
Does any one have an explanation for this?

SoulRed12 January 6th, 2009 11:19 PM

Probably in the same way a pokemon can use hyper beam...it probably uses some sort of energy slash or something. idk.

pkmnhippy January 6th, 2009 11:48 PM

Its toes that we will never see, or it has a dry lumpy nose or something.

Yu_&_Rei January 6th, 2009 11:52 PM

maybe it combines the 3 heads to form a claw, or it has invisible hands. (Take goomba in mario super sluggers, it can hold a bat yet no hands), ahh nintendo creates such things for us to ponder XD♪♪

Ninja Caterpie January 7th, 2009 12:03 AM

1. Teeth
2. Their noses
3. The invisible feet Diglett mentions in PMD.

shockzone January 7th, 2009 12:06 AM

Maybe they just use their heads to swipe or form a hand made of earth and swipe or just nintendo wants us to think until our brains become mush.

Careful With That Axe, Pichu! January 7th, 2009 12:28 AM

Dugtrio can dig when fighting on water as well, for god's sake.

It's about time you realized Pokémon doesn't make any sense.

moments. January 7th, 2009 12:59 AM

You do realise that Dugtrio is a mole Pokemon? So where the dirt meets Dugtrio, it doesn't mean that is the end of his body. His body continues underground where he no doubt has arms and legs.
He comes up and scratches them.
You just don't see any of it because we are restricted to seeing one sprite of a Pokemon.

The warden January 7th, 2009 2:02 AM

It also learns arial ace but it can't fly.

A lot of pokemon that learn arial ace can't fly?

Aerial Ace is a misnomer. There are probably more non-flying type Pokemon that can learn it than flying types! xD

Anyway, it just strikes really fast.

Well Aerial means like Air born or something of the like, so they could jump and attack...

Sheek January 7th, 2009 3:26 PM

It's not really supposed to make sense, but I guess it could use it's teeth/whatever.

Well the thing is, you don't really see any teeth on dugtrio do you?

Not me...I didnt even know that, it does seem awkward...has no hands O_O

moments. January 7th, 2009 7:00 PM

There is no proof Dugtrio has no hands. It is a mole, half its body is concealed underground. I stated in my post, because we are limited to one sprite per Pokemon, we can never see the rest of Dugtrio. But being a mole Pokemon, I assume it has a body.

xsh4d0wx January 7th, 2009 7:50 PM

You guys have brought up some good reasons but for everyone who says it uses its teeth your wrong beasue the description of fury swipes is "rakes the foe with sharp claws"

On the other hand i have read that a dugtrio can't learn fury swipes in ruby, sapphire or emerald.

Artemis January 7th, 2009 8:53 PM

Hmmm...I always thought that it used the earth to form hands out of the ground and dirt to swipe the foe...but that's just me using my wild imagination...lol

wolf January 7th, 2009 9:19 PM

You know Dugtrio could have claws, I mean, it is a mole. The just don't show you them...

Blaine's Best Student January 9th, 2009 2:16 PM

Im pretty sure it has a body, let alone arms and legs, I doubt its in the pokeball just being a head and some dirt as we always see.

~Kavin~ January 9th, 2009 2:21 PM

I wonder what a Diglett/Dugtrio actually looks like?

Evilyn January 9th, 2009 2:36 PM

The same way Wooper can use Thunder Punch.

Diglett/Dugtrio is a mole Pokémon, that's all I can say, really. It's not like Pokémon ever made sense anyway.

Azonic January 9th, 2009 3:54 PM

Pokemon can get hit by a Surf in an underwater battle. Mew can learn Steel Wing. Pokemon don't need to breathe in an underwater battle. They battle on top of the water when surfing. Hurr. Don't they all make sense?

On another note, Diglett / Dugtrio are said to have claws or feet underneath their body.

Honest January 9th, 2009 4:01 PM

That... Is the question i always wantanswered ever since i got FireRed 3 years ago.
I dont have a clue!

Mystery Soul January 9th, 2009 5:31 PM

They have feet don't they? I can't imagine that....

Malote January 9th, 2009 8:07 PM

Well I guess they must have something to dig with... But it feels so strange... How must look like an entire Digglet/Dugtrio? Sounds kind of... bizarre :S
