Help with breeding tips!

Hey, I don't know how you breeders do it, but you do amazing pokemon by breeding... can you give me advice on that skill, please? I want to enter competitive battling with the new teams I make on my own, but for that, I need to breed pokemon, and I want to know all secrets... PLEASE, GIVE ME ADVICE!!!

Well......

Well....
to start off, you need dittos with certain natures. (for breed purpose)
Adamant, Modest, Timid, Jolly, Naive, Hasty for sweepers.
Bold, Sassy, Relaxed, Calm, Impish, Careful for tanks.
Rest dont bother unless mentioned.
Also, the natures: Serious, Bashful, Hardy....
don't touch those natures because they don't gain anything at all....
in game play is okay with these natures, but when it comes with competitive, don't use them.

After you obtain the dittos, you can just equip it with an everstone and breed it with the pokemon that you want the nature to be. It'll be a 50% chance though to order to obtain the nature you want though.... so be patient

Once you're done with that. you can then EV train it to order to gain the "perfect stats" that the pokemon obtain.
for sweepers: train it in speed and attack/special attack.
for tanks: train it in Hit points and special defense/defense.

The Effort Values train and Individual Values matter the most off of the competitive battle's position.
EV and IV are hard to explain on my side of explaining this.... so, i can't really help you much on that part :l

Yeah, I know all that, but is there something else I should know, like catching the Dittos, getting one with at least one 31 IV stat? How hard is it to have eggs to hatch to get them with the stats you need (For example, a Gible with 31 IVs in Attack and Speed), how many tries does it take you to do that???

jasonh1259 January 9th, 2009 11:48 PM

hm

Well, when it comes with the IV's, they all go by luck, I guess.... :l
if your patient, you can catch dittos or the pokemon you want many times and check out there stats. :l

I think that both parents give half of there IV's to there child. :l
don't remember, and the rest are by random.

Effort Values make a huge impact on the IV's.

How do you get the pokemon you want with the Synchronize ability??? Every single nature...

jasonh1259 January 10th, 2009 12:00 AM

What?

Breed them or catch them with the right ability + nature. Some or most of them have two abilities. example: Alakazam family, Gardevior family, Xatu family. other synchronize pokemon: Mew?. Espeon and Umbreon, you need to evolve with Eevee to do so....
when wild pokemon encountered with synchronize pokemon in front is 50% chance.

I guess it's the only way to do it... by the way, how do I know a certain pokemon has the right IVs if it's just at level 1? I don't have 99 rare candies to afford to know the right IVs for my pokemon...

But how do you know if your pokemon has the right IVs? I don't have 99 rare candies to know that at level 100...

you dont nedd 99 rare candies just raise it to lv.20 from daycare and use online iv calculators to get an idea of wether they are high.

Black Omega Zero January 10th, 2009 12:56 AM

I tried that, but it's not completely accurate, and you spend too much time leveling up for that...

Breeding the perfect Pokémon is easier than you think if you have the patience and the tools for it.

If you need more info, please go over to the Strategies and Movesets forum and check out the breeders corner. You should get the help you need there.
