Which Johto Starter would you pick in Emerald?

Apparently, if you beat the Elite Four in Pokemon Emerald, and complete the Hoenn Pokemon, Professor Birch is supposed to call you and offer you to pick one of the Johto starters.:) I'm working towards this right now, but I need to know what other people think.
I wanted to pick the least popular one, so that I can trade for the others.

Tashiro January 16th, 2009 5:59 PM

Cyndaquil would be my choice. I've loved quilava for ages.

Underoos January 16th, 2009 6:04 PM

I'd go for Cyndaquil all the way. It's always been my favorite ever since I played Silver.

True Reign January 16th, 2009 6:11 PM

I would definitely choose Totodile. I've always been a fan of the cheery, crocodile-like Pokemon. With Feraligatr's high attack, Dragon Claw could be a beast. :)

PokemonMichael January 16th, 2009 6:15 PM

I chose Chikorita.
After many hours of game play i got a Meganium LVL 100
I still have it.

Bibliophibian January 16th, 2009 6:16 PM

I always go with Cyndaquil, since it's my favorite starter out of any region.

QANTAN January 16th, 2009 6:27 PM

If I recall correctly, you get it after you've captured 200 (Not 202) Hoenn Pokemon. You also get the National Dex as well as a Johto starter to get you on your way. I'd choose Totodile, he did a lot of great things back in the 2nd Gen.

Wrong. You don't earn the National Dex when completing the Hoenn Dex. This is not D/P/Pt. You get the National Dex after beating the Elite Four for the first time.

As for choosing the starter, I would probably pick Totodile since I usually choose the water Pokemon in every generation. If you want a least popular Pokemon like you mentioned earlier, you should probably choose Chikorita. Grass starters are usually the least popular in every generation. Fire starters are extremely overated and everyone usually picks those. Water starters are probably in the middle in terms of popularity.

Chatot January 16th, 2009 8:23 PM

I pretty much have to say Totodile because back in GSC days, I usually chose him, and one of my favorite Pokemon is it's evolution, Feraligatr.

Dominus Temporis January 16th, 2009 8:36 PM

I've always thought Cyndaquil and his line were incredibly awesome, so that's who I'd pick.

Plus, their design is simple, yet cool and effective.

Deeje January 16th, 2009 9:27 PM

Definately Cyndaquil. Only fire starter line to not get a secondary type, to stick true the the 'Fire' starter choice. He is also cute-cool looking and can end up with rad moves.

Zelda January 16th, 2009 9:32 PM

Cyndaquil...isn't Quilava and Cyndaquil so cute? But not only that but because well I love fire types they're my second fav.

Artemis January 16th, 2009 9:33 PM

I have to say Cyndaquil...fire is cool and cyndaquil i cute...while its evolution line rocks!

DaPews January 16th, 2009 10:03 PM

The fire pokemon are always the best pick. Even though the water type gym leader is REALLY hard to beat with it...they look the coolest.

wolf January 16th, 2009 10:08 PM

Totodile since I already got a Cyndaquil from Colosseum.

.emerald January 16th, 2009 10:18 PM

For some reason, I picked Chikorita.

Maybe because of its ability to use Earthquake...
I wouldn't want Cyndaquil cause its soft. But it looks cool...

I had second thoughts though with Totodile.

Asmo-deus January 16th, 2009 11:22 PM

Cyndaquil, i used a Quilava in the Lvl 50 Battle Factory, so yeah. I'm gonna pick with Cyndaquil.

SoulRed12 January 17th, 2009 12:06 AM

Probably Chikorita. I've already got good fire and water pokemon, I need a grass type.

EnteiFirecracker January 17th, 2009 12:32 AM

Cyndaquil easily.
It's my favorite out of the Johto Starters.

.:Kanto:. January 17th, 2009 1:12 AM

I'd pick Totodile for obvious reasons lol.
1. It's cute
2. It's a water type
3. whats more awsome than a crocodile based water type?!?

shanecdavis January 17th, 2009 1:23 AM

The Johto starters fail when it comes to the starters in the other regions, but I did pick Totodile the first time I completed the Pokedex because the Water is always the best of the three in every region.

Pikachu™ January 17th, 2009 1:27 AM

well, if I had the patience to get the whole of the Hoenn dex I would get Totodile hes a great water type! and looks so cute too

¡No Hablo Inglés! January 17th, 2009 1:33 AM

I'd pick Totodile if I hadn't already traded for one, since it's my favourite starter from any generation and I have a tendency to choose Water types above any other type. I guess I'd probably pick Cyndaquil, mainly because I've never liked Chikorita.

hothead January 17th, 2009 3:08 AM

Me and my mate finished thee game on the same day and i wanted todile and cyndiquill and he wanted cinderquill and todile so it was easy for us

Lynnx January 17th, 2009 6:12 AM

I've never had the patience to complete a Pokedex, but I'd definately choose Chikorita. Meganium is one of my all-time favorite Pokemon and I almost never use Grass-types.
