The Three Legendary Dogs

Hi, I have been training on the Route below Eureck City and I have encountered both Suicune and Raikou while doing so. My team is around 23-26 and I don't want to challenge the gym leader until they are 26+ so I have a few questions for you guys to answer so I don't screw up.

1. The Raikou I encountered 'fled', does this mean I can't encounter it again?

2. I ran from Suicune so does this mean I can't encounter it again?

3. If one of the legendary dogs uses 'Roar' will I be able to encounter them again? I've heard rumours you can't so I need someone to vertify this.

I'd also like to know if the three legendary dogs base stats at level 50 are the same as the base stats in the later generation games (R/S/E/LG/FR/D/P).

Thanks in advance, I hope you can answer these questions quickly since I am worried about this, lol. I want to use the legendary dogs against RED in Mt. Silver when I've beaten the game.

Well Once you encounter them the first time, check your pokedex and you should see their current position in Jhoto.

answering your questions:
1. Yes you will be able to

2. I'm pretty sure you should be able to

3. Hmm... I think you should be able to.

Still, the only time they stop appearing is like any other legendary and that is when you KO them.

And with the question about the dogs in later versions, they don't appear in R/S/E/D/P. In FR/LG it depends on what starter you get.

I think its:
Squirtle>Suicune
Bulbasaur>Raikou
Charmander>Entei

Hope it helped

Yeah, it did. Thanks but I don't think I should be able to KO any legendary dogs at level 40 anytime soon.

My team is:

Slowpoke//Speedy Lv. 23
Magmar//Blaze Lv. 23
Jigglypuff//Balloon Lv. 26
Bayleaf//Leafy Lv. 26

Training all to 25 before Eureak gym. One final question i'd like to ask would be:

What is a good moveset for Dragonite?

Editttttttt: Just checked Pokedex, they are both on the route left of Eureak. I won't be going there then lol.

Dragonite is such a versatile pokemon, but here are some suggestions. Pick moves that fit with your team (for example, if you keep Magmar, Dragonite wouldn't need Flamethrower).

Thunderbolt
Surf/Ice Beam
Wing Attack/Outrage
Thunder Wave/Flamethrower

Also, get a fast pokemon. If you can sneak in an attack on the beasts, next time you see them, they will have the same amount of HP (they won't heal). Also, moves like False Swipe, Spore, Mean Look, and such will also help you in weakening them for capture.

Well, I'm planning on teaching Magmar Psychic since its such a great Pokemon. I don't know where I can learn T-Bolt, Icebeam or Flamethrower. I didn't know you could get those TMs on Gold...?

Wow... Has the Pokemon World changed that much? .__.;

My apologies. Well, if you have access to Crystal, I know you can move tutor those near Goldenrod's Game Corner. Ice Beam/Thunderbolt are TMs from R/B/Y. If you're solely using Gold, then you can use the TMs of Fire/Ice/Thunder Punch or Fire Blast/Blizzard/Thunder (although not recommended due to low accuracy).

Remember that it doesn't really matter what moves a pokemon has; as long as it's at a high enough level, it should be able to defeat any in game pokemon.

Like someone else said, the only way the dogs will never appear again is if you KO them. Otherwise you can chase them around the map until you finally catch one. Also, if you're playing Crystal, you can go to the Tin Tower later in the game and battle Suicune like a normal match, it won't run away.

Another way to get the TMs for ice beam, thunderbolt, or flamethrower is to trade whichever pokemon you want to learn the move back to a red or blue version (if you have one). Then use the TM from that game on them, and trade the pokemon back to gold or crystal or whatever you're playing.

I think it's just in the third generation that you lose out on them if they use Roar. And in FireRed/LeafGreen, the one that appears is the type that trumps your starter (so if you chose Squirtle you get Raikou, Bulbasaur gets you Entei, and if you choose Charmander you can catch Suicune).

Yes to all, but if you kill them, no
