Do you like Obama?
Do you like obama and if so why
|
I like Obama because he came to my house and gave me a cookie.
Then he went back to his party van. I'll miss him. |
I like obama because he is going to bring our country out of the debt plus give jobs to millions and b/c hes black too<< we have never had a black president b4

Anyway, yes I like Obama. Coming off of Bush and the state he left the country in as well as the overall morale of the American people, Obama is wonderful individual for instilling thoughts of hope and optimism - be it realistic and achievable or not. I certainly hope he can turn things around, but there's a rather big mess to clean up. |
I like Obama because I can sense hope in him and I feel I can trust him. When he speaks, he speaks the truth and I can sense it, even if the truth is bad. I think he will make a great president because he can come off as trusting to most Americans and give them a sense of hope while we go through these hard times in this country. Good luck Obama!
|
Yes...why? Becuase he is actually gonna help these immagrants...it is time for this world to wake up and smell the coffee without a stuffy nose! ':D
|
Yes yes yes. He is so hot( its the power) and he is making history like no other.
|
I kinda think he's cool but Bush is a bad pres
I like him cos he beats clinton |
Quote:
listen bush sucked. he was our worse president atleast thats my opinion |
Not to be mean or anything, but I couldn't care less whether Obama or a cow was a president. It won't directly affect life here in Australia anyway. Sure, it may affect alliances, but in the end, all countries should be self-sufficient and not rely on other countries.
|
I don't even think you know what your talking about, Gaga. If the United States had a cow as President, the other Superpowers would have an oppurtunity to strike down other countries like Austrailia or Western Europe. Please think before you type your opinions on a website, please.

Countries NEED to rely on each other. The Middle East gives us oil. The Americas give everyone bananas, tomatoes, corn, etc.
It's called interdependence and the world would be alot different. Quote:
|
The USA has plenty of its own oil, but it doesn't know how to conserve it. All countries have the ability to live self-sufficiently. They don't necessarily have to buy oil from another country, they could use alternative means. And which country would choose barren wasteland to exist on? People these days...
And Australia gets its own bananas, thank you very much. EDIT! Where will we get our meat?! MUST HAVE MEAT! *drools like zombie* |
Yes. I think the world need a new hope. And the fact that I have no interest in Politics whatsoever makes me believe in everything people say.
|
Quote:
And yes all countries can be self-effiecient if they want to ride bikes three miles everyday to work. Also the 'barren wasteland' is most likely where religion was first practiced. Besides living on a desert, could have some advantages other countries don't have/know. |
I cannot say. Let's wait until Obama is inaugurated.
|
I like Obama because He is black. And he is awesome.
Spoiler:
|
I don't know, I've never met him...
|
Erika that spoiler is win XD
Anyway yeah i like him as well hopefully he can clean bush's mess up. Ok i mean look sometimes a president leaves bad reputation or bad laws behind for the next guy but bush wow he took an elephant made him crap all over the place and only left behind a mop the size of a toothbrush. |
Wow, I can tell a lot of though went into this question.
A tad too generic? xD From what I've seen I like him more than McTit, but I haven't read up on most of his policies or know what he's like as a person so I can't really judge. |
I'm not a follower of American politics. But i can safely say i'm glad obama won over McCain.
|
Quote:
lol joking. Well I like the feat he's done to be the first black president, but now Akon wants to be the next Terminator XD |
... No.
In the interest of avoiding receiving a large amount of contemptuous comments from fellow members, I won't state my reasons. |
I like Obama becuase I believe he is going to change the country/state/whatever. He is an amazing person.
|
I personally do not like Obama.
I do not wish to go into it either. I'll leave it with a simple no, but I can deal with him. ~Mooshykris ps: Really, Bush wasn't THAT bad, we're all still alive, aren't we? |
Yeah, Obama's great. I'm sure he'll do a much better job than George Bush ever did.
|
I couldn't care less, I'm not even American. The world is screwed either way. One person alone can't change everything. And how did Bush become president? People voted for him and were like "He's the best, he'll make America a better place! <3" and look at him now. Why do you think Obama will be any different? Everybody just sees him as god because of his skin colour. He's black. ... So what? I can't wait to see someone throw a shoe at Obama after a couple of years.
|
Quote:
Yeah, I don't like Obama, and due to the same reasons the other (possibly 4?) people stated, I'm not gonna go into it. He's already our new President, and I can live with it, but I shant be thrilled. |
yea but some people say he wont get relected
|
Quote:
|
I like him, his econimic plan to bring America out of this crisis is very well thought out. I trust him very much to bring America back to way it should be.
|
I find it amusing that some people here cite "Bush sucked" as the reason why they like Obama. As far as I'm concerned, that's not even a reason at all. But why should I even bother....
This is a misleading question. Do I like Obama? Sure, I don't hate the guy. I'm sure he would be a cool person to meet. What I don't like is his policies and the direction he wants to take the country in. I'm worried that his presidency will move us toward a bigger government with more spending and programs, which I am not in support of. I'm also worried about some of the domestic changes he could bring about. I could go on, but I'll leave it at that I guess lest I start a huge debate again XD |
I like Obama as a person. I like his ideas, and what he has promised. Only time will tell if he lives up to those promises, but I think he will.
So yes, I "like" Obama, but that isn't what really is important now is it? I just hope that the other branches of the government are willing to work quickly (lolwut?) with him. We need to get this terrorist business dealt with so we can start working on more important projects like universal healthcare, making the world a better place, etc. |
Quote:
I like Obama. He seems to be a hopeful guy, which is always nice since there doesn't seem to be a lot right now. I mean, I don't agree with the guy on everything, but he seems to be smart and capable, which is more than our current president or pathetic Congress can say. |
Not at all. I didn't like him right off the bat, and he hasn't given me reason to yet. He has made WAY to many promises that he can't keep, and it's going to come back at him. The people expect way too much out of him, most of which he has no chance of getting done. Not to mention that he is more of a celebrity than a politician. This country is in for a rude awakening...
|
meh i dont like him. i dont like his policies or most anything that he has to say. all he can do is say nothing really well.
p.s. also wtf like half of the ppl arent even informed about him. theyre like he's awesome and super cool and gives me cookies and wtf?!>.> |
I don't have anything against him, I mean, I was against him in the election, but that's only because I thought McCain would be better, not that Obmama was bad...
|
Maybe I think this way because I've grown up in a country that actually gives its citizens free education (even university and college) and health care and so on, but I really believe Obama has a point. For years I've heard stories of USA's insufficient health care system and all the trouble parents have to go trough to get their kids to a good university, and I've heard these from people who live in the US. To me, it seemed a lot like the policies of the government were in favor of the rich people.
I also believe it is very good to have middle-class people as politicians. EU policians are revolting because they seem to think they are way above the average people. If the politican actually is one of the average people, some problems and stupidites in laws can be fixed or avoided. Obama hasn't been a very rich person most of his life, so he should know what normal life is like. Bush has been rich for his entire life. But those reasons are small and unimportant next to my main reason for liking Obama over Bush and McCain. That reason is the fact that I believe Obama doesn't want to go to war. War is a part of foregin policy, and as a foreigner, that concerns me the most. I don't want any more wars. Now that the situation in Russia is only getting worse, I can see some light shining from the United States of America. If Obama really is who he seems to be, there won't be another Afghanistan nor Iraq. And I sincerely hope he is. That's why I like him. |
The reason that we're in a bad money crisis (or mostly the reason) is because Bush decided we needed to butt in Iraq's business. Sure, taking out their leader made them happy, but now the people in Iraq hate Americans. McCain thought that we needed to be there until "we won." ??? What are we winning here exactly? And before anybody says anything about bombs or anything else, our army is apparently not finding anything. They need to come back home and worry about protecting USA. The country is spending billions of dollars there that we could be spending back at home to help the country.
I love how Obama is against the war and is thinking about bringing everyone home. I'm not saying I hate Bush, but he has kind of made some bad choices. Maybe Obama won't keep all the promises he has said he will make, but it's good to see some new leadership to hopefully help us in this war nightmare. |

I personally don't like him. One thing I don't like is how a MAJORITY of the people who voted for him just voted for him because he's black. I'm not saying everybody did but I know that's what a lot of people did. Also I agree with ^
|

It's really hard to give an answer seeing as he hasn't done anything yet. But with the way the country is now, he seems like the ideal person for the job and I'm really happy he got elected. I wish I could stay home for his Inauguration Speech but I have finals. |
I like Obama. I like that he is charismatic, has a lot of good policies, and that he doesn't treat intellectualism like it's a swear word.
|

|
main reason i like obama is because he made history by being the 1st black president
|
Yeah I actually like Obama because he is going to help the US and other countries get out of debt. Well he probably won't do it all, but at least some of it. And give the people more jobs. And get affordable health care to families that can't afford it alone. It seems he got a game plan for the economy and I am looking forward to see what it is. And he is seem so intelligent. He knows what he is doing. And he is the first President of a different race. See? Any race can be President. It doesn't need to be one race only. He made history for that. But he will make history for the other stuff as well. We are going to be saved! Probably by his next term.

Personally, I like Obama very much. I can't wait to vote for him in 2012. Also, this thread should be closed, things will be all flames by Tuesday |
Well, I don't know Obama personally, as was previously stated in this thread a few times, but I do like his ideas and viewpoints. He can relate to the people, being from a middle class family himself and not growing up with tons of financial benefits. Whenever I hear him give a speech, hope and truth reverberates from the television. I truly believe he will be a positive change for the American government, and I'm so glad that he won over McCain.

Pre-Inauguration Replies. ^_^
Personally and Politically, I admire Obama's grit, realism and pragmatism since I do lean Liberal in my beliefs. The fact that he has instilled a sense of confidence and hope at a time it is really needed just makes me hopeful that we can get through this all together. ^_^
Also let's be realistic that Obama cannot do this all by himself or even all of it. But first fixing the cratering US Economy would put us back to the right track of moving forward. =D First of all, no matter how much Michael Moore and the New York Times or Bill O'Reilly and Fox News wants to paint Bush and Obama respectively, as the harbingers of destruction, the truth is somewhere in the middle. I think I'm starting to believe the generalization of America as 40% Democrat, 20% Moderate, and 40% Republican due to the swings throughout history on the rise of leaders at the time they are needed. From FDR to Ronald Reagan we can see this. =P Quote:
But I have to say that at this moment we truly need bigger government spending and programs due to the lack of consumer confidence. We have already used the Conservative option of tackling recessions through tax-cuts and Libertarian de-regulization during the 2001-2002 US recession. It might have worked too well at creating the bubble of confidence that has exploded recently. An increased budget deficit due to the Bush Tax Cuts and resulting less government revenue, plus the massive increase in government defense spending for the War on Terror (Iraq, Afganistan, etc.) did not necessarily add up. Now were in quite a hole. Yes, it might seem ironic on how spending got us into this and now the need to use the Liberal option of government spending and activism. But I have to agree that the long term needed investments in infrastructure, energy independence, health-care reform, education reform and domestic strengthening can be put forward much easier under this Activist Government. This needs massive Public Funds and commitment, and why not use the Economic Crisis as an umbrella to put these forward easier. No matter how much liberals are bashed, FDR comes into mind with the "New Deal." The Government Backstops created under his administration such as the FDIC, Social Security, plus the Infrastructure (ex. Golden Gate Bridge) has been life savers for this generations economic crash and has helped assured America's continued prosperity. =D Quote:
Quote:
But I have to say you should check out how controversial the US Elections of 2000 was. Bush won Florida and the Electoral college by about only 500 VOTES! He lost the Popular vote! And his first inauguration was full of protests, etc. He was only re-elected during the US 2004 Elections due to America's fear of another Terrorist attack. Even then Ohio was questionable. =/ I was even so afraid of terrorists back then that I supported the Republicans during the 2006 Congressional Mid-Term Election... So please don't talk about shoe throwing, the United States already has the Herculean task of redeeming itself after the Disastrous Bush Policies. D= Quote:
I personally don't hate Bush, and neither should you. It's the policies of His administration (A lot of people behind that such as VP Cheney) that has caused this mess and the Republicans might need to get in a circle and reassess priorities and platform. But Bush did some right things in his second term. Also as a final note we must not blindly follow the Obama Administration. You must get informed, criticize their actions if necessary, and form your own conclusions on how to get the country and the world forward. I must agree with Aura that the reason "Bush iz teh suckzorz" makes the left look funny and uninformed. ^_^ |
I've never been a big fan of Obama, I've always had trouble with all his promises and how he says 'change' like a million time in every speech. Its going to be interesting to see if he really does deliver.
|
Barack Obama's whole campaign has been about change. I'm not a fan of the Iraq War, but I'd rather see our troops come home and begin to rebuilt this country before we help rebuild some other country that can't even protect it's own people.
My main concern is the sagging economy. I only hope that Obama will do something to begin to reverse the effects of what's been going on. I know it'll take a very long time for things to get better, but if he can start to fix something now, it'll help. I and a lot of working Americans right now are worried about if we will have jobs tomorrow or next week or next month. So, I like Obama. It's a change from all the crap that's been going on in Washington for the past 8 years, no thanks to Dubya. |
I do like Obama in the way that we can like any media figure. We can only appreciate and like what we see. I'm sure I and we don't know him well enough to judge the integrity of the man, yet, but his reign in office will answer enough questions.
But yes, I do. |
No, and I won't state my opinions either. Yes, Bush did some bad things, but never left us in a great depression.

As for liking what the man presents...I'm not quite sure yet, to be honest. I'd rather see what he changes WHEN he changes it. |
I like him mucho.
But i don't think he's going to be the friggin messiah that fixes all the cracks in the world and lead humanity into the golden age, but he'll be a damned great president. I like the fact that he's gonna bring some good ideas and mindsets into into America. ex. greener, more eco-responsible young people. Quote:
|
Yes :)
I'm not American, so it's not like he's my president or anything... but from what I've seen of him I believe he WILL help change the mess Bush left. Obv we'll have to wait and see, but I'm quite optimistic :) |
I don't necessarily think Bush was a bad president. I mean I didn't agree with everything he did but he can't make every single person happy. I mean he had to deal with a lot of things as president - 9/11 and Katrina being a few. I think he did his best. No offense, but if many of the people that criticized him TRIED being the president they'd probably shut up. But that might not always be the case.

I am very positive about Obama. I'm pretty sure he's gonna bring change in a few weeks. I've already got that feeling and it hasn't been a week yet :D. Man, if Gas Prices here are like 1.70$, then I wonder how low it will be in a year. Next thing we know it will be under a buck per gallon XD, |
lmfao =)) you know what I mean =)) =))
I meant the Iraq war and what not =)) |
I like Obama, honeslty I think he will do a lot of good for this country. Bush did leave a mess behind him, but I think Obama will do a lot of good work cleaning up after it...
I can tell he has a lot planned for America in the near future...it'll just take some time that is all... |
I think Obama's a pretty cool guy.
