Update On "WWE Superstars" Series
By Daniel Pena

-- World Wrestling Entertainment has begun promoting the upcoming "WWE Superstars" series, which is set to debut next month on WGN America.

The program will be based around first-run interpromotional bouts between members of all three WWE brands. The tag line for the series is "Expect Everything."

The company's biggest stars are featured in the series' promotional campaign including John Cena, Triple H, Undertaker, Batista and Jeff Hardy. According to their promotional campaign, the series will feature "the biggest Superstars from Raw, SmackDown and ECW."

The official blurb on the series reads: "The biggest Superstars from Raw, SmackDown and ECW debut on "WWE Superstars" – a one-hour exclusive weekly television show – featuring original matches between any WWE Superstar from any brand, at any time. "WWE Superstars," the only place to see it all! Expect everything. WWE Superstars premieres Thursday, April 16."

WWE.com has launched a section promoting the series, which you can see at the following link.

As reported last month, company officials do actually plan on putting forth effort into the program instead of centering it around the likes of Charlie Haas, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan and Kung Fu Naki. They plan on having the regularly featured stars appear, as well as its own set of storylines. However, many believe this will only last as long as the program draws adequate ratings to make the extra creative effort worthwhile, and WGN isn't even a top 50 cable station. If nothing else, the show will be around for the long haul as WWE signed a multi-year deal to air the program not to mention that the long-term future of MyNetworkTV remains in question.

WWE Announces The Von Erichs As 2009 Hall Of Fame Inductees
Written by Richard Gray

Rather than make an announcement on last night's edition of Raw, WWE announced the final inductees to the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2009 on their official website. The Von Erichs will be inducted by Michael "P.S." Hayes at the 2009 WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony the night before WrestleMania 25 on Saturday, April 4, 2009 from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

w00t! I love the Von Erichs! I heard many stories about them from my friends' fathers. XD

Vernikova March 21st, 2009 9:38 PM

I've only heard maybe one or two things about the Von Erichs so it doesn't matter to me that much.

They were like legends back in the days.

Can you name all the people that's going to be inducted in the Hall of Fame, Mewthree?

Honest March 22nd, 2009 10:58 AM

I like the Von Erichs... xD

Smackdown was pretty boring for its 500th episode. Though the end was hilarious. xD

Wrestling has been boring since they decided to split the brands because they wanted to hire useless talent that they were going to fire anyways. If they want to have any hope of survival later on they need to ditch the two separate brands and go back to how it used to be.

Actually, Id say thats taking it to far. Smackdown is fine, though they need to look for some better talent. ECW is the one with more trouble. I really dont see the point in it. WWE should get rid of ECW, and send the Extremists to RAW or Smackdown. Agreed? xD

Update On Vince McMahon & Creative Team Issues
By Brad Ingles

WWE creative team members were told to head to Vince McMahon's penthouse condominium in Boca Raton following the Raw tapings in Jacksonville, FL on March 9, as he would be spending the week there. They were told it would be a big meeting to finalize the next few weeks of TV storylines, the direction of WrestleMania 25 and the upcoming Draft in April. Brian Gewirtz and Michael Hayes were told on March 11 via phone that Vince will not attend the meeting and for the team to return to Stamford, CT and come up with options on their own.

They were also told Stephanie McMahon would attend the meeting via teleconference to hear the options. She was described as being frustrated with how Vince has handled the situation.

Lucha Wrestler Abismo Negro Found Dead In Mexico
By Daniel Pena
source: www.f4wonline.com

Andrés Alejandro Palomeque González, better known as Abismo Negro in AAA, was found dead in a river in Mexico yesterday. The lucha wrestler was 37.

No definite cause of death has been determined as of yet, nor has foul play been ruled out.

According to a bus driver who was transporting González and other passengers to Mexico City, González became agitated, almost panicked and demanded to be let off the bus despite it being 1:30 in the morning. After leaving the bus, González found himself lost on the dark hillside, confirmed by a text message he sent to his wife. After receiving the text, his wife contacted local wrestling promoter Vicente Martinez, who organized a search party.

Yesterday morning, González was found floating face down in the river. Medical expert Jesús Enrique Castro López stated that such an anxiety attack could be steroid related, but González' alleged steroid abuse has yet to be confirmed

Early in his career, González went under the ring name Winners, a masked male dancer, who teamed with former WCW wrestler Super Calo during the early glory days of the AAA promotion. At the TripleMania II-A show in April 1994, Winners formed a trio with Rey Misterio and Rey Misterio, Jr. The following year, he lost his mask in a feud with Calo.

González changed his appearance in 1997 and became Abismo Negro in 1997. He wrestled at the 1997 Royal Rumble in San Antonio at the Alamo Dome by taking part in a "Free-For-All" pre-show match alongside Heavy Metal and Histeria. His team lost to Octagón, Blue Demon, Jr. and Tinieblas Jr. He also made two appearances on Raw in March of that year.

In 2004, Abismo Negro appeared in TNA by taking part in the World X Cup Tournament for Team Mexico.

Former TNA Agent Says Christian Was Unhappy In TNA (Interview)
By Brad Ingles

During an appearance on the Submission Radio show, former TNA agent Jerry Lynn said he wasn't surprised Christian left TNA for a WWE return. He said Christian was unhappy with TNA in less than a month of signing with the promotion in 2005 and disliked the company's politics.

According to Lynn, there are many wrestlers not happy in TNA.

"There's a tremendous amount of talent that's not happy there, but they don't say anything because they have nowhere else to go," Lynn said.

Kevin Nash Works Indy Show Over The Weekend, Teams With Troubled Scott Hall
Written by Richard Gray

Kevin Nash and Scott Hall teamed up over the weekend at a Great Lakes Championship Wrestling show in Waukesha, Wisconsin on Saturday night. Hall and Nash took on BG and Kip James, the former New Age Outlaws. Nash worked with a large pad over his elbow as he is recovering from a MRSA staph infection that he caught in Japan back in January. By all accounts Nash carried Hall through the match who wore street clothes and appeared inebriated. Kip James hit his finisher on Hall when Hall went for a tag and Nash got off the apron. After the match, Nash cut a promo on Hall saying he now knows how it feels to be left out in the cold.

As we have previously reported here on Wrestling News World, TNA officials are hoping Nash will be able to work their Lockdown pay-per-view next month. I heard there was talk of putting him in the Lethal Lockdown match if he is able to go but that is not confirmed.

Two TNA Knockouts Have Words, Rhaka Khan's Backstage Reputation
Written by Richard Gray

According to numerous sources, Roxxi and Rhaka Khan got in a heated backstage altercation at a recent TNA show. Roxxi reportedly felt Khan had worked too stiff with her, resulting in her getting a black eye. While it appears unrelated, we reported last week Dixie Carter has made the decision to phase Roxxi off of television.

Rhaka Khan is not well received backstage as many feel she gets special treatment because she is romantically involved with Kurt Angle. This was also something that followed Karen Angle on many occasions.

Vinnie K going nuts! Must me Wrestlemania time!

What! Another wrestler dead! That is not good. The lst one was like a week or two ago... This is horrible.

Yeah, i gotta agree with Cristian. I just dont like TNA for some reason. It seems second rate, but I bet some people love it. xD

Wait a minute, RAW tapings? RAW is taped?

I was expecting Ricky to join last year. I was really disapointed. Congrats Ricky! xD

and, I agree with BH. ECW isnt even extreme anymore. :\

mewthree w/armor March 23rd, 2009 1:15 PM

They might have the raw taping part wrong, but with Wrestlemania coming up, they might tape a few to protect the talent. I know Smackdown is doing double taping now to save money.

TNA tapes in one place like ECW used to do allot. It saves them significant money.

I think its wack that hey tape RAW without saying something. But you gotta do what you gotta do. xD ECW, ECW, ECW. I really don't know why they have it. In SVR 09, there are only like 8 extremists! (Ok, maybe like 100 xD)

Thank you for agreeing with me. With their way of handlin' wrestlers. It's not exciting anymore.

I mean, they took out most of the high flyin' and now there is two, female championship that isn't worth anything anymore...

Sadlly, I must agree. ECW is what is ruining WWE. Part of the cause, actually. I dont know who actually likes ECW, but im sure there are people who do. xD

Steve Doll Passes Away
Written by Ryan Gray

It is my unfortunate responsibility to report that former WWF Superstar l (a/k/a Steven Dunn in the Well Dunn tag team) has passed away at the age of 44. According to reports, Doll passed away yesterday in a Tennessee hospital after his family made the decision to take him off life support. Apparently, he was hospitalized in 2007 after suffering a seizure from intestinal blockage. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his friends and family.

Kurt Angle Says Karen Cheated On Him With A Wrestler (Interview)
By Michael Bluth

Kurt Angle appeared on Howard Stern's Sirius Satellite radio show this morning and dropped a bombshell regarding what led to his divorce from ex-wife Karen. Here are some of the newsworthy items:

- His Fallout with Vince: Kurt said it started when he told Vince that he needed time off due to a pain pill addiction. "We had a talk and we made amends," Angle said. Kurt said they were "extra strength stuff" and mentioned percoset, five broken necks, up to 65 pills a day and hasn't taken any in four years. He also said, "I don't like to talk about it (his drug problems)." Kurt said despite the fact that he was taking so many pills, they actually made him feel "straight and normal" and needed 20 pills in the morning just to get out of bed. Vince wanted Kurt to kick his pill habit while remaining on the road, which Kurt said would be very hard to do. It took Kurt five months to get off the pills.

- His Divorce from Karen Angle: It happened two months ago and "Karen is a millionaire now," which he doesn't mind as long as his kids are taken care of. Kurt said that someone in the business did something with Karen and implied it was a fellow wrestler. Kurt said he's the one who got her into wrestling and it was a mistake. She'd stay out all night and later tell Kurt she was hanging out with friends in the hotel lobby. Kurt did said he cheated on Karen "a couple of times" while they were separated and feels she may have slept around to get back at him. Kurt put her over as a great mother. Howard asked if it was Vince who Karen cheated with and Kurt said if it was Vince, he would have called to him to say, "I got a storyline for you..."

- His Love for Black Women: Kurt proclaimed his love for Stern's news woman Robin Quivers and read a poem to her. Kurt said he may be in love with Robin and he's dated a black woman since his divorce (later revealing her to be TNA Knockout Rhaka Khan). Kurt thinks he may have a little bit of black in him (he mentioned his butt, his lips and curly hair) which might explain why he's so into black women.

- Mixed Martial Arts Kurt said he's still seriously considering it. "For me, in wrestling or MMA, I would make the same," he said.

Ric Flair Received Medical Attention After Segment With Jericho

Ric Flair required medical attention for the heavy blood flow following the opening segment of last night's Raw with Chris Jericho.

Joey Styles said on WWE's live blog for Raw, "I just watched Dr. Amman put eleven staples in Flair's head."

TNA No Longer Using ROH Talent, Nigel McGuinness Injury Update
Written by Richard Gray

- TNA Wrestling is no longer allowing workers under contract to appear on Ring of Honor shows now that they have a national television deal with HDNet.

- Nigel McGuinness has torn both of his biceps and will need surgery to fix them. He is scheduled to work WrestleMania weekend in Houston but will then be out for a considerable amount of time.

Yeah. Angle is undoubtedly crazy.

Does anyone know if Finlay turned heel?

BHwolfgang March 25th, 2009 3:15 AM

I think Finlay is better off training divas and the tag-teams then wrestle. If he trains them enough where no one would need him to carry out the match, then I think that it'll bring a smile onto the Irishman's face.

Angle has been crazy. Karen cheating on him? He is crazy.

A bit to the side, In Smackdown vs. Raw 2009, how do you get Hornswoggle out? xD

To say the least. To say the least.

His current gimmick in TNA is horrible! But I like his style and skill. I can see him doing TNA and Japan for a very long time, but never WWE. He's just not the look WWE is going for.
