Which generation do you prefer? :)

Sorry if there's already a thread, I've searched but can't find one </3

Do you prefer the 1st (red, blue and yellow) or the 2nd (gold, silver and crystal)

I know the 1st generation will always have a place in my heart, as it was the first and all... but I prefer the 2nd :)

It just has everything I wanted, male and female pokemon, pokemon breeding, a decent amount of pokemon (not too many, but more than 151), night and day, better graphics, better gameplay etc. etc.

Ahhhh I love gold, silver and crystal :D :D

Underoos January 25th, 2009 11:24 AM

I liked the 2nd generation better. Plus, the first generation was basically built in the 2nd generation anyway :)

Ceilidh January 25th, 2009 11:27 AM

I loved the fact you could go back :)

I wish you could do the same with the other games :(

machomuu January 25th, 2009 12:00 PM

1st generation all the way :D!
There's alot more to do in Kanto in the 1st generation than the 2nd generation.

Heiheipig January 25th, 2009 12:47 PM

2nd Generation > 1st Generation. Basically EVERYTHING was better: storyline, graphics, replay value...

Ceilidh January 25th, 2009 3:37 PM

I agree Kanto is better in the first generation, but I just prefer the 2nd ^___^

Johto ftw <3

Wulf January 25th, 2009 3:39 PM

Nostalga Goggles on it would always be 1st gen
Without them, 2nd gen.

Ruphire January 25th, 2009 3:40 PM

My favorite was the third gen. I don't know why but it just is.

Ceilidh January 25th, 2009 4:09 PM

I was never a huge fan of the 3rd gen tbh /: it was good and all, it's just after gold, silver and crystal I expected better.

That's exactly what I wish! They seriously need to do that again...for me, it made me want to play the game 10x more because there were more gyms, Pokemon, etc.

Ceilidh January 25th, 2009 4:14 PM

I know :(

Which was another reason I was disappointed with the 3rd gen </3

I know going back to Kanto AND Johto would have been quite hard, but... ehhhhh they could have at least put Johto in there aswell :(

Underoos January 25th, 2009 4:58 PM

Yeah they could have...and I didn't like the Hoenn pokemon very well, either...same with Sinnoh...their designs...meh, I just didn't like 'em to well. Now they've sorta grown on me, though.

machomuu January 25th, 2009 6:16 PM

Remember guys, this only 1st or second (personally, my LEAST favorite generation was 4th gen, I don't like Sinnoh's geography, music, or pokemon (there were some I liked))

deliriouspurple January 25th, 2009 7:29 PM

1st generation would be great for me!
I want old school that's all^_-

angelsavoir January 25th, 2009 9:17 PM

I say the 2nd! Its the one i played first, and i loved how you could go to two different regions.

FastTonyDeNiro January 26th, 2009 12:59 AM

For nostalgia's sake it's 1st gen. Kanto was awesome and I didn't think the story was all that bad.

But 2nd gen was probably better. The pokemon were awesome, and all those 1st gen pokemon were still in it. My only complaint with it is the fact that all of the trainers and wild pokemon are EXTREMELY underleveled. I mean, you're in Viridian City fighting your last gym battle, and the wild pokemon around are like level 10.

The gym leaders themselves were leveled ok. But any other trainer is 20 levels lower than you.

So I'm actually going to say 1st gen was my favorite.

.:Kanto:. January 26th, 2009 1:13 AM

1st gen. I grew up on it. Pokémon lost popularity when the 2nd gen came out. But I loved the 1st gen. =)

LegendaryPokeBreeder January 26th, 2009 4:41 AM

Id say the 1st generation. I loved it :D I think some might agree too much ... I always wanted to play on my friends games to help them in school (as I was never allowed to take mine into school) I actually .... why am I saying this ... became a slave and carried someones bag onto the bus home ... JUST so I could play his pokemon red on the bus ¬¬
I was addicted lol

Jayster23 January 26th, 2009 5:58 AM

I liked the 1st gen because of Charizard and you didn't need to trade over but the 2nd Gen i was blown away it was by far the best Pokemon game EVER!!!!

I love how it's in the future and the rival is the Son of Giovanni instead of your best friend or when you move next door to this Kid who goes 'Let's be friends' No you have a guy who wallops you in the head for no damn reason, You're then all like WTF?.Ah good times.

Also i love How you have to find the Legendary dogs instead of walking up and having them saying 'Gyaoooo"

But the best bit of all was the storyline and the new Pokemon and how you don't need a game shark for every legendary*Cough3rd&4thgencough*

Well i could go on but i can't be bothered right now

Aether January 28th, 2009 4:04 PM

2nd Generation. It had almost everything 1st gen had, plus a new region, new pokemon, new types, night/day... It felt so fresh and new, but you could also take a visit back to Kanto if you felt like it. Also, 2nd gen has a lot of my favorite pokemon in it. :x

*~Frost Umbreon~* January 28th, 2009 4:07 PM

2nd Generation. It was actually the last generation my brother got games in, plus you can go back to Kanto where the gym leaders have been training. :o

HoneyBubbles January 28th, 2009 4:15 PM

3rd generation. Pokemon Sapphire was the first pokemon game I ever bought. :'D
R/S/E and FR/LG have all my favorite pokemon and characters.

But out of those two choices, my favorite is 2nd generation. Just because you can have a female player in Crystal.

Caelus January 28th, 2009 8:56 PM

I was never a huge fan of 1st gen, what with it's simplicity and all.
When I first played Silver I was hooked on it. I was trying to reach the elite four before giving up; but even so I trained until my Pokemons reached a high level before tackling the Elite Four a second time.
What I really liked about GSC was the ability to travel back to Kanto. Now I'm not a huge fan of Kanto, but I couldn't pass this opportunity.
There's just something about it that makes it awesome.

icomeanon6 January 28th, 2009 9:10 PM

In my opinion, Pokemon's highest moment was with Crystal version. Gold and Silver were enough of an improvement already, but I thought it was amazing how they managed to get all 251 of them animated for the battle screen. I think that GSC is my favorite generation out of all of them, including the ones for the GBA and DS, because you're able to explore two regions instead of just one. I was sorely disappointed when I found out that the ability to travel to past regions was removed in RSE and DP.

DuckSwimmer January 28th, 2009 9:50 PM

I liked the 1st cause I remembered that i think you could bring pikachu out of its pokeball. I forgot alot... its been a while xD
