I have no idea how to critique this. XDDD I barely know what it is.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/piratemanexeth3.png
You need work on your hands. The right hand's fingers are too flat. But, considering I don't know who this is, I could be wrong and that could be how it's drawn.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/Julia_Concept_001.png
Humans need work with you. The face falls just a bit too flat and her hands seem way too big. Here's something to remember: Hands are only as big as the person's face.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/spit_image.php.png
Not sure if boobage is allowed, but, whatever. XD The kahuuns would be nicer if they weren't so perky. Without a bra, they'll just kinda hang there. Of course, you'd still have the roundness, they just wouldn't be as perky.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/womenofpor.png
That's a lot to critique. XD Anyway, I see you still need work on the facial structure. You make your faces too rounded and fat when, normally, the faces have defined nooks and crannies for where things like cheekbones go. And you still need to work on your hands as well. Not all of the fingers are the same length and, in most cases, fingers aren't as fat as you've drawn them to be. To work on this, you can trace your hand and then try to draw it in different positions (after shrinking it of course) free-handed. On another note: Ya spelled poor wrong. XD

Goody, now we move onto the pokemon sketches.
Good. XD

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/Yetalanche.png
This picture is all right. Though, it doesn't seem to be 'Pokémon-style'.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/VooDear.png
This actually looks very nice (I like it better than Jynx, at least XD). But Jynx isn't a Ghost-type so it probably shouldn't evolve into one unless you're going for a Nincada-Ninjask-Shedinja thing.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/News.png
The pre-evolved form of Lapras is all right. I'm not too big on how it looks in general, but everything seems to be okay anatomically.
Pinsir's evolved form, on the other hand, is awful. The only thing that looks like Pinsir about it is the head (which looks great), but then the rest of the body doesn't have a sense of Pinsir about it. And what kind of bug did you base it off of? I've never seen a bug that looks like that. Also, when drawing the wings, even when they're beating, you have to have an outline of where the wings are and where they come out to, otherwise, it just looks like a trail of stardust behind the creature.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/LugiChomp.png
That's a very nice fusion, though I think getting rid of Garchomp's top fin and replacing it with Lugia's back fins would have been a better choice.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/Steelix_small.png
Looks dead. *pokes it with stick*

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/Mamoswine.png
Even the sketch looks lovely. *saw the colored pic*

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/chansey.png
Chansey's egg pouch needs to be bigger than that. Also, its tail is too thin (not by a lot, mind). And its feet seem a bit too big, mainly width-wise.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/lapras.png
*see my review of the colored version*

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/milotic.png
Milotic's body doesn't seem even in some places, especially around the scaly part of its hind end.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/icebugsmall.png
Awesome. <3

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/Banette-evo.png
I'm not too keen on this one at all, to be honest. It looks more like a humanoid rather than an evolved form of Banette (who is awesome just the way it is)

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/banetteevo.png
This one has a design flaw right near the top. Where the 'strings' flow off of the wood, you can still see the wood outline.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/bannevo.png
No comments besides my previous.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/ubersteel.png
. . . . ??? No comment.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/firegrass.png
Oh, finally one I actually like. The final evolved form is just darling, even if it is a fire/grass mix. The only thing I don't like is the way the feet are shaped. It doesn't match the style of the picture.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/chilipeppers.png
O.o"

O.O"

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/cockatrice.png
All right, I kinda like this one, too. But you need to work on drawing fire. It looks like it has holes in it.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/newpose.png
Uhm. . Oookay?

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/basilisk.png
I like this one as well, but its tail isn't big at the base, where it should be big (see the third spike from the end of the tail).

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/poisonground1.png
The 'slime' on its head doesn't look a whole lot like slime. Looks more like patches. .

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/wolfanglines.png
Oooh. <3 I love this one. The lines are perfect and the design is very nice. ^_~ However, its back leg needs a bit of work where the 'knee' connects to the thigh. With how you drew it, it looks like it's bending at an odd angle.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/chanseyf.png
Nicely colored.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/miloticlarge.png
Also nicely colored.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/Laprasfinal.png

The horn on its head is a bit too thick. But that's just a small detail, of course. The picture overall is wonderful.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/Revenankh_normal.png

It's not very. . Professional when you make the lines of the outside bigger than the lines of the inside. Personally, that kind of style doesn't look good with this picture.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/fireded.png
The fire just looks worse here. And the outline is skewed because of the fire color. The fire is one color, just one, when it should be a mix of yellow and orange (and I mean more like Pokémon style rather than what you have here).

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/Raptilisk.png
I'm not big on the choice of colors. It doesn't seem like the purple or red should go anywhere on this picture.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/Mertessen-size.png
Uhm. .

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/munchlaxcopy.png
Uhm. Okay, well, there are a lot of things wrong with this poor Munchlax. Firstly, what's wrong with its claws? They're much, much too big. Secondly, its mouth is too small and looks kinda rushed in general. And its fingers are just plain awfully drawn. Finally, it needs to be fatter. Much fatter.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/pander-1.png
Awww! <3 He's so cute. However, the claws on his back paws are pointed out in an odd direction, especially on his right back paw.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/hibabango.png

I'm not big on the way the toes look. They seem too. . Skinny.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/ashley.png
I feel like you got the nose just a bit too big and prominent, considering the way her face actually looks. Also, the 'dip' right under her nose shouldn't look as dark as you made it, considering it was barely noticeable at all in the actual photo.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/vassagosmall.png

Toward the bottom, on the inside of the. . Cloak? Anyway, on the inside near the bottom, the light would have a very difficult time getting there (on the left, or, in this case, his right side).

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/Mamoswinecopy.png
Wow. . The only problem I have with this is the placing of the shading on the right (or Mamoswine's left side, in this case) tusk. The light is facing right there, so I don't think the shading would be there.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/luvdiscsevo.png

The lines on this one look a bit skewed in some parts, especially around the faces of each Pokémon. However, this is a small detail and nothing big to worry about.
http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/9494/shaymicopyex1.png
This one doesn't look like Shaymin face-wise. I think the eyes were overshadowed by the fur on its back.

My review ^. I'm going to be completely honest with you. I really, really don't like your style of drawing. And your fakemon concepts are bad. Very bad. However, on the upside, you can draw Pokémon somewhat well. Mostly, though, this was just a pain to review.

But the Starmie on your post is wonderfully done. Perfect, even.
Hope my review helps and, uh. . Doesn't make you feel discouraged. It's not like I'm trying to be mean. You should probably merge all your later pics into the first post as I can't be bothered to look through your whole thread to find the rest.

KingofAnime June 13th, 2009 1:39 PM

It is art's nature that it is physically impossible to please everyone. There will always be those who don't like your work because art is purely subjective.

I will note however that you were the first to outright not like my work, but I did appreciate you providing a rationale as to why. I actually do agree with many of the points you made, but do realize the majority of those pics are rather aged and I'm unlikely to ever go back and rectify errors within them.

I know you were just being honest, but I wouldn't go so far as to call my concepts horrible. Maybe they weren't your flavor of ice cream, but to call out such things like that would have to suggest the majority of the consensus agrees too. Like you said, these are all your personal opinion, but using broad negative words like that would suggest they are based on an objective scale rather than a subjective one.

So no, I'm not going to let your words turn me off from my passion. I make art because I'm an artist and it's what I do. I take the good and the bad as it comes and only get better with each day.

If everyone quit what they were doing because some people didn't like it, there would be nothing done in the world.

KingofAnime July 9th, 2009 9:30 PM

Haha, I decided to try out something new with my drawing style. Since I'm proficient enough with it, I figured I can try to emulate the CG style used in the WindWaker. I think I emulated i well enough, but I'll let you guys be the judge.

I started with something simple like the Wallmaster. Eventually I'll move my way up to Bokoblins and Dark Nuts. :)

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/wallmaster.png

And I have pure sketches as well. I feel like some of my more technical works are produced with traditional media and I don't think they are able to be transferred over digitally while keeping their essence.

I drew all these while I was supposed to be taking notes. Be sure to click the thumbnails to view the full sized images!

http://s10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/th_elderowl.pnghttp://s10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/th_dragon-1.pnghttp://s10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/th_alien.png

The first is my interpretation of an elderly sage disguised as an owl. I chose a Barn Owl or the design because they are one of the creepiest birds out there and something about them just calls to me.

The second one is just some dragon I sketched. I wanted to try out texturing and shading so it came to be.

The third one is the most chilling. I just made like a zombie alien parasite bursting through the host body, casing it to be destroyed and contorted in the process.

♥RanaRocket!☆ July 9th, 2009 10:03 PM

I really like what you did with the wallmaster :3
you captured it so cleverly beacsue its glowy, but theres something remarkably solid about it still!
awesome stufff.... <3~
and ooooh those three scketches, though small, are reallly very neat :3~ they all have some really wonderfully cark and creepy designs and you executed them well.

if there was a way to see the alien parasite one bigger, it might help. its hard to see on this 'm' *squint*

well, anyways~ great work all round, really :3~ hope to see mooooar. >D!

KingofAnime July 9th, 2009 10:08 PM

If you click the thumbnails, it will open up a window to the fullsized image, you silly. ;p

But I thank ya for the compliments.

Well, another day another doodle, I guess.

Blue Chu for you!

That is so? woah. i haven't been here in so long ._______.' that couldn't be done when i frequented here.
*has a gander*
Yeah that alien parasite one is verrrry nice, the way you've depicted it with the style you have is most excellent. i like the way you've done its eyes and what i'm assuming is blood and its claws especially.

Your new 'doodle' is really well done to! stop making everyone look bad XD~
(i kid. i don't mind looking bad, really, if its next to this~!)
the formation of the shading has captured the blu chu perrfectly<3 and the thunder effect is just gorrrrgeous. keep up the good stuff~ i REALLY like your style :3!

KingofAnime July 21st, 2009 10:22 PM

I assure you I'm not trying to make anyone look bad, I'm only making art for art's sake. ._.

Speaking of which, enjoy this quick doodle of Deoxys inspired by his Smash bros pic.

All of these are so AWESOME!!! I haven't seen better in here yet. I like all of your works but your Metal Charizard is best! I like Charizards. And Blue Chu is really good (I like Zelda games). What do you use for coloring? I really like these colours (I have never liked colouring but I think it's time to like). Can you draw Typhlosion? It's my favorite pokémon.

sanny the hedgehog July 22nd, 2009 12:14 PM

sweet art dude its awesome!

KingofAnime August 19th, 2009 12:06 AM

Uh well, my first art in like a month or so, I fear I might be slipping. This is one of my favorite pokemon, Glaceon! :)

I'm not too good with backgrounds and scenery at all so I kept it simple with a lil blizzardy scene. Came out ok I think. This is going to be an illustration on a card so it might come out interesting on the final product!

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/glaceonblizzard.png

Also here's Glaceon without the blizzard:
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/glaceon.png

And in terms of music, here's some for you guys, named "Guardian Beasts". It's a remix of the boss theme from Ys II. (Music counts as art too, k?)

Can't let this thread die. D;

New art today. This is for a contest on deviantart where you gotta create a creature based on common household items inspired by the monsters from the upcoming movie, 9. I liked the feel of the movie and I'm a sucker for steampunk, soooo. Say hello to Chimera-tech Stomper:

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Art/Fairly%20Recent%20to%20New%20Art/nine-creature.png

Did this in a different style and took forever to do. :(

~*!*~Tatsujin Gosuto~*!*~ September 6th, 2009 11:39 AM

I can see why it took forever it's done really well, even though I can't really tell what it is exactly. All I see is a staple remover and maybe possibly a pair of scissors, but its still great though

:t354:TG

KingofAnime September 18th, 2009 9:30 PM

Knives for fingers, metal rods for arms, staple remover for head, fan blades for a neck frill, lightbulb for an eye, metal balles with gold ring joints for a body, electrical wires, and large shears as a tail.

Been away for awhile, but got a few pieces in the works, so expect them within the next couple days!
