hello, im new, and i have something to say
hello.
even though my first pokemon game was crystal, and i got that when i was 5 (9 years ago) i still am very new to pokemon when i played crystal, all i did was grind, and ended the game with a level 85 feralligator, 78 snorlax, and 69 suduwoo. thats all i used for the whole game... no strategy.... just grinding..... (i was 5, what do you expect???) so now, here i am, havent played pokemon in about 8 years, and just came into possetion of diamond (blue too, but im not worrying about that now) so now, i tried my crystal strategy,, and its just not cutting it. i am at the top of mt cornet, dieing against cyrus over and over, and i realized, i gotta make a team. i plan for this to be my turnaround. im gonna stop playing like my 5 year old self, get some other pokemon besides my lvl50 infernape, lvl50charap, lvl35 lucario and lvl35 haunter, and try to actually be good at this game. i have no clue what im gonna do. probably just fly to town, and im gonnna start new. i am going to be a real pokemon trainer. i will make an awesome team. i will be anactive member in the community. and i need your help! |
How can we help you exactly?

whats a good basic way to make a team.?
|
dude, lvl your starter to lvl 57
and have it have the following moves Close Combat, Flamethrower or Flame Wheel, Fire Blast, Flare Blitz or Mach Punch. if you have you starter at lvl 57 or higher and have these moves you can pwn cyrus, the last gym leader, and the frist E4 dude XD |
yah, but cyrus has flipping water any flying types which DESTROY ME!!!!!!!!!
also, ppl say that chatot has batd stats iv ev and some other flippin weird stuff..... iv? ev? how do you tell if a pokemon has good or bad stats? |

the bad/good stats thing is when you look pokemon skills, and all there things are very low/low/high/very high. |
Strategy. Alot of planning, strategy, and preparation. That wins battles.

Grinding isn't exactly a bad thing, but the main issue is that some people only play with one or two pokemon which have limited move-sets, which can cause some problems. First of all, when you're playing through the game, one of the most important things (in my opinion) is to get at least three pokemon who are used for battling, and around the same level. 4-5 is better, of course, but three can work.
Once you get three pokemon that are evenly leveled and aren't too low of a level for the game (this is where grinding them all equally is good), you have to give them good move-sets. I've seen way too many people who seem to think that having four water moves on their Empoleon is good - when it really is not. Pokemon can have two moves of the same type, like Close Combat and Brick Break for example, but not having a diverse move-pool can really mess you up. Also, do not teach your battling pokemon HM's, unless they are Waterfall, Surf, or Strength, since those are the only good ones - Fly is okay, but I personally do not like it. Don't teach your pokemon moves that don't make sense. For example, don't teach a pokemon that has really high Attack and low Special Attack a special move, because that'll just do much less damage and is a waste. There are TM's that you can buy at that giant mall, as well as ones from the game corner, and ones that you receive just by beating Gym Leaders or playing the game - there's no point in saving them unless you want to save them for after you beat the game to teach to your competitive battling team. Anyway, I think that's all I can think of, I hope that helps. |
That's lovely and all but truth be told, we don't really care.
