Toothache September 9th, 2004 3:57 AM

I did, and then I actually took part in a play in secondary school - West Side Story, I was Officer Krupke (one of the few non-singing parts!). It wasn't too bad, even though I was playing this big hard cop, I'm rather tiny, so on the second night, everyone laughed when a big voice came from off-stage, then little old me came out. :-)

I get stage fright, because I'm very shy and can't stand being in the spotlight like that - I can be very clumsy, so I'm always afraid that I could make a mistake and make a fool out of myself >_<
I find myself to be a lot more outgoing online though! ^_^

OMG, I lurve that Officer Krupke musical number, lol.

Krupke, we got troubles of our own!
Gee, Officer Krupke,
We're down on our knees,
'Cause no one wants a fella with a social disease.
Gee, Officer Krupke,
What are we to do?
Gee, Officer Krupke,
Krup you!

Well, as for me...I've been exposed to the stage ever since I was four years old. That's when I started dance lessons and danced in front of huge audiences. I never cried, either. XD I, actually, was the kid making all the other little girls laugh before we went on stage...at least that's what my old dance teacher (unfortunately she passed away this summer) told my Mom, heh. Anyway, I've long since participated in musicals like Grease and Chicago. I was Jan in Grease...lol. She's the one with the "Brusha, brusha, brusha" song...but I didn't get to do that because the musical is entirely different from the movie. But, I did have a funny line that was in the movie! "It says right here it is a dessert wine!" You'll have to understand the context of it in order to find it amusing, eheh. In any event, I get a little nervous before I go on stage...but I wouldn't consider it a bad case of stage fright. ^_^

I dunno. Probably, I’ve done a little speaking to groups recently and done okay I suppose. As for mass-stages, the only time I was on one of those was when I was very very small. I don’t recall being aware of the fact I was nervous, but my little body sure was shaking like everything. I still have the pass I used to get backstage. ^_^;

BladeForever September 9th, 2004 11:51 AM

hmm 3 times I had to do something in front of a wide group of people..

[-+= 1. =+-] Was when I use to be in chorus in 6-7 grade.. (god knows I hate singing) Our chorus group had to sing a few songs on top of a stage.... and we were standing up, right in front of those hot lights waiting to start.. So a bit before that I look out to the crowd and my arms, and legs started giving in, as if it was getting weaker, and weaker.. I literally couldent stand anymore I had no idea what was going on.. Everyone looked at me and said you dont look so good, I started breathing hard, and was sweating like crazy. (this had to be caused by the hot lights+auidence) had to get off stage and drink something, and went straight home..

[-+= 2. =+-] Had to sing.. again for my principles retirement party.. though I was nervous, it wasent as bad as usual.

[-+= 3. =+-] Now finally.. when I had to say 3 long speeches at my graduation.. (this is what happens when you get good grades >_<) I nearly screwed up on the speeches.. I couldent hold the paper so I set it down to read it.. thankfully I made it.. (it's soo annoying when you have to get up, and down to get more certificates!) Now I'm in high school, and plan on never doing that again.

well what? looking for more? o.o that's it.. geez <_<

Me? no. I have been performing from singing, playing piano, gymnastics, to plays ever since i was 4 ^^

Bhati September 9th, 2004 2:10 PM

A little bit. I'm nervous before-hand, but once I get up in front of people and start whatever I need to present/preform, I'm fine. I usually just look over people's heads though, it's easier then looking into their eyes.

When I was little I don't believe I did. For Christmas in Kindergarden, our class put on a play of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer for the parents. We each were told our parts, and I was given the role of Prancer... who had one line in the entire play. Being 5 and not having much else on my mind, I practiced my little line day in and day out, until finally, the night of the play came. I was a little up tight, (Maybe it was the antlers, hehe) but when the scene where each of the eight reindeers announced who they were was raised from under the curtain, I came through like a true reindeer. After the kid next to me shyly spoke his part, I leapt forward (Suprising the crowd and the rest of the kids on stage) and yelled proudly, "I'M PRANCER! The bravest and strongest of all the reindeer!"

Unfortunately, that's all I could remember of that night, but my parents and sisters never let me live it down, hehe.

So, uh, I guess I really don't get stage fright that often now either, but I'm nowhere as confident as I was when I was little, hehe.

Eliana September 9th, 2004 4:46 PM

XD i was the nightingale in the Nightingale play when i was 6 :P

That was very interesting to read Prancer- I mean Jordan. It was very uhhh....dramatic? XD

Well, I cant exactly say that I have ever had stage fright. In grade 1 when I was in my first play, I had to be a teddy bear. (Yes, it was a Christmas Play. XD) I would have been scared if it werent for me being hyper (They gave us cookies before we went on stage =P). I had no problem dancing around on stage. XP

Yup! I stole the show from a certain red-nosed wonder...
*Prances around... hehe*

Ah, and they gave us cookies too for a Christmas Carol we had in fourth grade (There's no way I could ever tell that one; It was traumatizing, hehe). Of course, we finished eating them before we began to sing, hehe.

Cool! The Nightingale!
... um, what was that again?
Ah hehe...

Eliana September 9th, 2004 5:32 PM

XD its a play....
about a nightingale. XD

*~Ashley~* September 9th, 2004 6:22 PM

I don't think I ever had stage fright... although I never was a very outgoing person. In 5th grade we did a play about inventions... I was a sundial, lol. I remember the teachers yelling at me to talk louder since I was so quiet! I haven't been in any plays since then though.. I don't think.

I've danced since I was 8 so I'm used to being on stage in a group. I've never cried at a recital or even really gotten nervous. As long as it was in a group I was fine! Now dance recitals are nothing for me! As long as we're confident in our dance... unlike last year.

Oh yeah, and another reason I don't think I have stage fright is cuz when I was in 5th grade I used to sing solos in Italian. Yep. I hated that but I would do it anyway. I would have to sing alone in front of a crowd at the Columbus Day parade and in front of family members at our shows. But I never really got nervous about it because I knew the songs so well.

Cherrim September 10th, 2004 1:47 PM

Considering the fact that I don't sign myself up for, nor have the need to be on stages of any sort, I have no idea.

I don't normally get nervous when speaking in public now anyway, though. I only seem like it because I outwardly show the signs of.. nervousness, I suppose. =\ Like, I always appear to be blushing, or embarassed, but that's just how I am, I guess. @[email protected] It's really annoying. Like last year, when we had to do this French speech or something, I was literally trembling, although in my mind, I had no problem with it (I'm good at French and I know it well, so I knew I had no reason to be scared). But... yeah. *sweatdrops* I used to be scared silly about stuff like that, but I knew I had to change, so I loosened up when I got to the higher grades in elementary and high school... ^_^;; Now I'm not embarassed to do or say most things because they decree who I am and there really isn't a reason to be. ^^'

~Ozy~ September 10th, 2004 2:14 PM

No, I don't I'm actually confident enough that I pretty much BS it whenever I have to speak in public. I can't act though, so the only time I'm onstage is either for speechs or running crew.

Teara September 10th, 2004 2:32 PM

I remember when I waz really little I uzed to be zhy infront of alot of people. But zchool got me out of that right away.
Now I'm alwayz out in azzembaliez making zpeechez for ztuco and zometimez zinging (uzually only once a year though)
I love attention zo the ztage iz a good friend of mine ^_^

Prancer? hmmm...>3

Emerald_Ursaring September 10th, 2004 4:33 PM

Ever since pre-school, I've been fond of acting and never had much stage fright. I can remember a bit of nervousness in my last play, but otherwise, I don't get it often.

Careful With That Axe, Pichu! September 10th, 2004 4:55 PM

I'm very serious but not shy, i don't have stage fright...i could make a stupidity in front of the world and still nothing...

Greed September 10th, 2004 5:57 PM

I've had agorophobia when I was younger and I would suddenly cry when I was making a speech. =/ But other than that, I got over it. Mostly because I take parts in plays that are not important. Such as *gasp* the tree! Heh.. Kinda funny, all I had to do was stand and hold up leaves.

*dies*

Mr Cat Dog September 11th, 2004 12:49 AM

If I have to do something that means I'll be in public view with the spotlight on it, then I'll do it... But for my French coursework I (and the rest of the class) have to do a three minute presentation off by heart in French... which I'm kinda trembling about.

But many a time, I don't actually participate in stuff where I'll be the key figure. Sure, I like acting, but I'm not in a dramw group or something, I'd prefer to go on the internet (and that says a LOT about me ^_^), than go up on stage and pretend to be someone I'm not.

All in all, I don't have stagefright, but I do have a tendency to avoid things which involve me being the centre of attention.

Composer of Requiems September 11th, 2004 1:44 AM

I love the stage!
Hehe, I take every chance I can get to go on stage. =P

Haruka September 12th, 2004 3:02 AM

I used to have stage fright when doing those plays in 2nd grade, but I am not anymore. ^_^ (since I got over with it. Yay!).... or I won't be able to proform on stage. ^_^

espeon and umbreon September 12th, 2004 1:26 PM

Even only when classmates are watching I get stage fright.

pichugirl September 14th, 2004 12:03 PM

I have stage fright sometimes but not in front of my freinds.

Kiri September 14th, 2004 12:03 PM

I do just before I go on, but while I'm on I'm fine. I did screw up a bit when last year I was the owl in Alice in Wonderland so I had to do a posh English accent *cringe*

rabbitsdying2 September 14th, 2004 2:27 PM

Actually no. The last time I got onstage, mid-way through it, I realized I wasn't supposed to be there yet. So I ran off the stage and buried my head in a curtain laughing. When it was my time to come out again, I did what I had to and then called it a day. I blew it off as a mistake, but some people came up to me and said they were embarrassed for me which made me laugh even harder than before.
Ooohhh, Life.

Kayleigh September 19th, 2004 10:54 AM

Well... Yeah, I usually do get a bit stage fright when I know that a lot of people's attention is on me. ^_^; I guess it's because I'm shy, and I'm homeschooled so I don't have to participate in plays and things like a lot of kids do in public school, so I'm not used to it. I usually get so nervous, and I'll forget what to say and everything, lol. It's funny though, how my best friend isn't shy in the least! I mean, she'll just go up and talk to anyone, she sings a lot in front of other people, (she has a good voice so she usually sings on the stage at church and everything) and a lot of other stuff, while I'm very quiet and just polite! It's interesting how we ended up being friends... I guess we kind of level each other out in a way!
