Classic B/R/Y versions FTW!

Just wanted to know how many of you still remeber playing the classics (Red, Blue and yellow versions) and how many of you still say their among your favorite till this day. For me I still love enjoy playing them(now on pc) from time to time

"Shadow Lugia" March 15th, 2009 10:18 PM

Of course I do. I remember the day I bought Red, as well as playing the game for the first time. Unfortunately, something inside the game broke a few years back. I still have Blue and Yellow, however, and I play them from time to time.

I had to sell me so I could buy my friend a wirreless adapter which he ended up moving anyways. :( But I loved those games. They were awesome, yellow was my favorite and now im on a hunt to get green. :)

Japans green became our blue didnt it? i might be wrong lol

Arukas March 17th, 2009 7:54 PM

The last time i played pokemon was when silver and gold first came out

I'll always take the classics over these platinums, rubies, what ever the hell new ones are out now lol

bewbs March 26th, 2009 2:45 PM

I remember it as if it were only yesterday.

The slot machines were awesome. I loved Yellow and the sprites in Red/Blue and Green were amusing. I consider Silver/Gold/Crystal classic too XD

I love both of the 2nd gens. They oth take me back to 2001, and I loved that year, everything seemed lovely.

Charzard is awesome. =P

EJ March 26th, 2009 3:56 PM

Blue was my favorite =D

The Japanese Green did become our Blue.

That's why the GBA remakes' names make sense. LeafGREEN.

I remember when I 1st got Yellow, best GB game ever. I had a great team in there but the file got corrupted and I had to sell it. :( (I got another one though, but when I turned it on just now, the file wasn't there) Also had Crystal, I gave it to one of my brothers and he sold it later =s (I should have kept it) I played Blue once, since my brother never started it, I looked at the sprites and I didn't like how Pikachu looked XD

Ryuzaki_Lawliet March 27th, 2009 5:47 AM

I got Yellow and I am playing it right now, XD. I got it on Wednesday because my friend did not want her copy anymore and I've already racked up almost 37 hours of play time. LOL! This game will forever be my favorite.

Leirot March 29th, 2009 7:26 AM

Oh man, I still remember the day I bought my Gameboy, and Red Version. My family had this yard sale, and I sold a BUNCH of my toys so I could afford my own stuff. (This is the first thing i bought with my own money.) So, we hopped in the car and drove to Best Buy. All my friends had Blue, and my parents tried to get me to get it, but I wanted to be different. (Plus, how do you choose a Blastoise cover over Charizard!?) We went to Denny's after Best Buy, and I played the game the entire time. Didn't eat a single bite...That seems so long ago. Also, I pre-ordered Yellow, and got it the day it came out, but I never got quite as attached to it. I eventually got blue as well, and once I got a GBA, I traded Pokemon back and forth between the two games...lol.

Limey-chan March 29th, 2009 7:30 AM

I can always remember getting Blue for the first time, since it was at Christmas. Honestly it's the most excited i've ever been about any present/game/whatever since. I think I woke my mum up at 5.30am or something ridiculous on Christmas morning just to play it, and I played it all day. And all day boxing day. And the day after, and so it started.

Harmonie March 29th, 2009 10:08 AM

I still do remember clearly when I first got Red. I didn't know what to expect at all, but I got addicted really fast. XD

It was the game that put my Gameboy into good use for the first time. There are definitely some great memories from back in the last half of 1999 playing that game for the first time, and not knowing what to expect, and then loving it.

I also made a good friend because we both played Pokemon. lol. I haven't seen her in years, though, because she moved. =( We still talk on the internet though.

I'm not into Pokemon anymore other than the main handheld games. Second is my favorite generation, but I don't play the games from the first two generations anymore due to a few reasons:

- My GBA SP broke, and I don't like playing without a backlight anymore... So yeah. Why oh why couldn't they have made the DS backwards compatible with GB and GBC games as well? =/
- For Gold and Silver the batteries are out. =(

If the batteries were fixed on Gold and Silver and my GBA SP worked again I would play them all more.

By the way, a Gold/Silver/Crystal remake is incredibly necessary at this point. Even if they just port it, they need to release it again, because they were the best.

angelsavoir March 29th, 2009 10:39 AM

I still play yellow :) I just started new not to long ago..

No actually.

Red and Green have entirely different sprites to US/UK Red and Blue.

Japanese Blue has the same sprites as US/UK Red and Blue and so is more like them.

Blue was released a year after Red and Green.

For the record I currently own two sets of R/B/Y.

lolwut March 29th, 2009 11:23 AM

I got Red with a purple game boy colour and a pack of pokemon cards for christmas when i was like 7 and it was pretty much the happiest day of my life... lol, eventually the pokemon cards were gone and i was just into the game. When i turned 10 i ditched the gameboy and stuff and didnt pick it up for a while until this year again, i was thinking it was childish, i was at the age where i cared to much about what people thought. But now i don't care and i play on a regular basis but i never play red anymore, silver is the oldest ill go back currently

Ryuzaki_Lawliet March 29th, 2009 1:24 PM

I can never forget the day I got yellow. (I know i posted before but... I remembered how)

I was walking home from school. My friend was having a garage sale. (LOL This was on Wednesday) He had three pokemon games- Diamond, Yellow, and Sapphire. I don't know why but I saw Yellow and i asked how much it was.

He said it didn't save anymore so I could just have it. :) Boy was he WRONG! I went home played a hour then I saved it turned it back on this morning. save file was still there!

System! March 29th, 2009 2:45 PM

My bro's friend was nice enough to give his Yellow to me when I was 12-13. I remember having a lot of fun playing it, then stopped playing because I was preoccupied with Sapphire.

A few weeks earlier I was bored with playing my Pearl game and decided, "Hey! What if my Yellow game's still working?" So I dug out my brick of a Gameboy and relived the glory days.

It's weird...I have more fun playing the older games (Y) than playing with its remakes (Y doesn't have a remake, but I hope you know what I mean). I've finished Y multiple times on multiple restarts but never finished LG, let alone beat all the gym leaders.

Gavin<3 March 29th, 2009 2:52 PM

Absolutely. The first game I owned was Yellow. I like it, but it's not my favorite.

I had Ruby too, and that made me love playing the games. But still Ruby hasn't got that special Pokémon feeling that is in both 1st and 2nd gen. I borrowed my friend's Gold game and fell in love with Johto. Metal gen ftw I say. Could have stopped there ;p

Now I only play Yellow on gba if my sister lets me. And sometimes I play Crystal on an emulator just to kill some time. It's always special to start up a new game in the older gens. Not as plastic as in the newer :3

Mudkipable March 29th, 2009 3:02 PM

Eh, the way I got Yellow was kinda... funny. I was actually going to buy the newest game, I think it was Ruby or something, and I see this game, 5 euros :oooo

So I bought it and voila, Yellow :D

But I lost my GBA somewhere :(

Scales March 29th, 2009 7:07 PM

I was more of a fan of Crystal version. But I was a big fan of Blue nevertheless.

I recently was reunited with my copies of Crystal and Blue. Time to get back to playing them again

Boss March 29th, 2009 8:16 PM

I think that no game will replace that same feel that R/B/Y gave you back in the day. I wish I still had Blue... or a Gameboy to play it on. I've still got Red and Yellow lying around, but I can't play them. Oh, sadness.

Shadow Umbreon Xd 002 April 17th, 2009 9:52 AM

I recently got a copy of pokemon red and it felt more fun to play then sphire did because of the way the sprites look and how original it is i currently have three badges and my team is Venausau lvl 34, Mew lvl 22 Flareon lvl 27 and pidgeoto lvl 30 i could own Erika if i battled her.

Pokedude45 April 17th, 2009 3:28 PM

I still to this day play my blue and yellow and gold on my gameboy pokemon edition! as well as platinum and all the newer ones I always play my gold

ShadowLeader April 17th, 2009 3:47 PM

of course i remember playing the classics!! i grew up with those!! man i used to play pokemon more than i went to school!! the originals were the best. whenever im bored i play my old red version and suddenly boredom vanishes!!! (unfortunately only for a few hours or so) but ot is still the best option for a boring saturday when there is nothing to drink around the house or everyone is busy...love those old games man..

Cham April 30th, 2009 3:01 PM

I play my Red and Blue almost as often as Platinum. I'd be playing G/S, but my batteries are dead and haven't gotten around to replacing them.
