Pokémon CrystalNights

http://i39.tinypic.com/5oc8di.png

this is a hack of: Pokémon Emerald
called: Pokémon CrystalNights

ok so i know what your all thinking- "great another G/S/C remake, but, this isnt just any old remake, no, this is a 100% remake (or the closest i can get :D) its based on the japanese version of the game so it will have the PCC in it and the "official" way to get celebi.

(btw im having trouble changing OW palletes on emerald as it keeps coming up with "runtime error")

Well at the moment it sounds great, lol.

Anyway, the title screen and the title look good, can't wait to hear everything else.

Stalin Malone March 9th, 2009 9:56 AM

Just What We Need, another G/S/C Remake.

DARKSHADE March 10th, 2009 8:50 AM

lol, yeah that sounds about right ;)

Feraligatr master March 10th, 2009 11:26 AM

This actually has some potentiol to actually work, plus if this is going to be a 100% remake then this hack will be unique for that reasson. Anyway good luck and i hope you don't give up on this.

DARKSHADE March 10th, 2009 11:38 AM

thank you thats just the sort of comnment ive been hoping for ;)

as you can see in the screenshots, even the size of the houses are the same.

Tropical Sunlight March 10th, 2009 11:53 AM

I think you should shrink the door tiles to 1 tile and edit the animation. It doesn't really look right when the door overlaps into the roof O.o
Best of luck!

DARKSHADE March 10th, 2009 12:11 PM

im taking off the animation for the moment, as for the door tiles i did that delberately, however if you think it looks worse that way i'll change it back ;)

*UPDATE*

I've changed the goldenrod roof tiles so now theyre a sort of goldy colour (for anyone who is ver knowledgable with R/S/E hacking its tileset 2 pallette 6) just like in the original crystal.

I've had this idea before actually lol.(making a 100% remake). And, for example, if you look at the original Red's maps compared to say, FireRed, Nintendo makes the maps to fit the new tile size/style. So if nintendo made a gsc remake, they would, say, make a similar tree design to the GSC one, but have it redone, to, say fit the GBA style(if they DID do a remake on GBA in it's time), which is 2 tiles for one tree, obviously. So, say that a GBC tile can have like 2 GBC trees on it per tile, because the GBC tiles are 4 times the size of GBA ones. Nintendo would probably either put one tree 2 tiles long in place of it, or, put seperate trees that are twice the size of the GBC ones, making the original maps bigger. So, in basic terms, if they actually remade the maps, they wouldnt be exact. Not smaller either. If anything, larger. The tiles could use some work, but it looks good so far. Now that I think, GSC and RBGY had pretty similar centers and marts, so I think it might make sense to use the FRLG tiles for those, instead of revamps of the GSC ones. The original GSC ones, revamped or not, don't fit the new sliding door style anyways.

RetroGamer379 March 10th, 2009 4:40 PM

a 100% remake? I don't get it...

yeah i know most of that, anyway how do you know nintendo make maps bigger when they do a pokemon remake? theyve only done one once (R/G/FR/LG) so maybe that was a one off, thankyou for the comment ;)

From what you, or at least I've noticed from the original RBGY maps compared to the FRLG maps, they've been extended by at least a certain amount of say, trees. It's no pattern or anything, but a system I've tried and wouldn't come out that bad would be putting say, 2 full GBA trees 2x2 blocks(not including top/connection to other trees) for the two GSC trees that can fit on one GBC tiles, which would work as an alright system and spread the maps out more, so people aren't seeing the same maps in every hack. The maps would be the same size and everything though, then, if it was 100%.

btw, i love the fact ur basing it on the JAP Crystal, because the English was lame compared to it. Now a GSC remake(besides CrystalShards, though a beta was never released that went up to goldenrod) will finally have the PCC included. I'm including a PCC in some hacks of mine, but they're not GSC remakes so it helps to actually see it in one.

Edit - btw, how did you animate Suicune on your titlescreen?

you- promise me you'll watch this hack, for some reason i like your comments and we both share the same sort of knowledge ;)
i know that 1 GBC tile= 1 GBA tile, but i havent really got any 2-tile trees that look anything like the G/S/C ones at the moment...

as for the the suicune, well i kinda cheated...
the title screen's not inserted yet- i made it on paint then animated it using my gif animator...

a GBC tile is 4 GBA tiles lol.

and about the "cheating" on the titlescreen, I actually had the idea you might of just animated it outside of the rom lol. Last I checked, you couldn't really make it animated easily, but I don't do much titlescreen editing, so.. Probably would involve some hex editing or something to edit something like the titlescreen's animation, but idk haha.

DARKSHADE March 11th, 2009 5:01 PM

yes but when you split up the GBC tiles into KWuarters (my keyboard cant type the letter thats at the start of KWuagsire) it makes a GBA tile so, as far as im concerned 1 GBC TILE = 1 GBA tile...

i am no good at title screen editting too..

yeah, I do the same thing, as long as you're not using a grid it's fine. Just saying, if you wanted to extend the map you could double the quarters i guess you could say.... or smth lol.

DARKSHADE March 11th, 2009 5:21 PM

lol

hey someperson, are you any good at mapping? cos i would love you to map for this hack!
(but you have to stick to the G/S/C maps

Well I can't really start working on any other hacks right now, seeing as i already have too much lol. Plus, a hack I have in the works has johto, and mine follow the GSC maps, so i wouldn't want it to use my maps on other hacks ;-). Um, you could always send me a patch or something and I could make a few improvements on existing maps if you want, i guess...

DARKSHADE March 11th, 2009 5:33 PM

what sort of improvements?

Anything, really, from tile and pallette editing to changing the layouts a little to fit the gsc style more I guess. or fix any errors the best I can.

DARKSHADE March 12th, 2009 9:26 AM

Sounds good to me! thx ;)
btw do you like my new avatar (made it myself)

Worldslayer608 March 12th, 2009 9:42 AM
