The people that like one of the FF games, and go around dissing the others annoy the crap out of me. >_<

I don't know if any of you collect Square's Play Arts figures, but they've released pictures of the prototypes for FFXIII's line.
Awesome as always. I'm already eyeing up the one of Snow. :D

Chrono August 9th, 2009 5:42 PM

I have the Red 13, Barret, Aerith, Cloud, Chocobo, figurines :P

I agree. There are people who are already complaining about how XIII isn't "fantasy" enough. But fanbases always have their annoying complaints. What are you gonna do?

wee187 August 9th, 2009 8:21 PM

Well to me Final Fantasy doesn't always represent Fantasy anymore, it's pretty much almost it's very own genre now, or all of them put together, in terms of story. I mean, FFVIII couldn't be more different from FFTactics, but both are regarded as brilliant FF games. And they both are. FFXIII will be just fine. People who complain already are just paranoid. Final Fantasy has never truly disappointed me yet, and I don't think it ever will.

.Wolfie-kun. August 10th, 2009 4:41 AM

I want to start collecting Play Arts figures, but I'd just get constant strange looks from my parents, so I think I'll stick to the these 2 wall scrolls that are due out in October (My b-day month) <33

I don't mind that you like FFVII, sorry! XD At the time, I was just having a big PM-war on youtube with a really stupid FFVII fanboy who kept dissing every other FF game besides 7, so I was kind of in a bad mood. I love FFVII too, it's okay. xD Though, it still can't beat XII IMO hehehe

honestly i have to agree except for storyline. i thought FFVII had a better storyline.
(of course i havent finished XII yet but so far im impressed, but not dazzled y'know? i do love the battle system, kicks ass ^_^)

and now i definitely need to get a mod for FFVII cuz thats awesome (also since all my PC data for FFVII got deleted when my computer was dumped :( all my hard work gone ;_; )

EDIT: and as for your wallpapers, you could probably just have those made since they're the postcards that you get in the AC Limited Edition box set. you could just take them to a photo place and have them blown up ^_^.

wee187 August 10th, 2009 6:55 PM

Well I love all storylines for the FF games, but I guess for FFXII it wouldn't be as impressive if you haven't played the other Ivalice games as well. They all add on to each other, and continue to make things make sense. Also, the thing I love with 12 is that you can't just get the story by watching the scenes, you actually need to comprehend, and think about what you're watching, and analyze things almost, piece them apart, for real enjoyment. Well, you could, but you would come out with a completely different experience than if you had. The emotion is hidden between the lines, and it's really up to you to discover and understand for yourself. It's unspoken, but definitely there. Then again, that could be the reason why people don't like FF12 as much sometimes: laziness? xD Either way, all FF stories are great.

Floris2Burn August 10th, 2009 11:58 PM

I like all the FF games, but somethimes I don't understand the stories,
messing up the names (like the start of FFXII, i still don't get it with all their difficult names and regions and leaders) or understand why ppl act certain ways while for other ppl is obvious.
To me it's always a series of events to avoid the bad stuff to happen...
So far, chocobo tales has been the easiest story XD

Playing through FFVII for the first time in a while. I'm currently in the Shinra building and just gained Red XIII (Named him Nanaki though), just realised that I missed out on the Elemental Materia - is this essential later on?

wee187 August 11th, 2009 9:02 AM

If anyone wants to know, on the 21st, which is NEXT Friday, FFTogether is doing a Final Fantasy Marathon, similar to TheSpeedGamers, expect we're focusing mainly on The Ivalice Alliance and The Compilation of FFVII. I'm the one playing through FFXII, and I'll be playing for 20 hours straight through the game! :o Here is the schedule, if anyone wants to see it:

Cool, yeah, I haven't done that in a while either, couldn't be bothered doing it all over again. xD
That part is good, no, it's really that important, well I don't think so anyway, just another materia, but I like getting them all. lol

.Wolfie-kun. August 11th, 2009 10:57 AM

I forgot you get it if you guess the right answer from that dude on the first go. Ah well XD

Playing Cloud's flashback now, hopefully I won't miss it much XD

@wee187 I'll have to take a look at that if I remember.

Yupp, the actual film will be streamed live as well. That's not a problem, right now, we're just trying to make sure the Crisis Core stream works. Hopefully we should be able to directly capture it, and not do a video-camera of it.

For FF12, I just got a Dazzle, which has awesome quality capture, so it'll be very good quality then. ;D

I'd like to sign up to this club. I'm a pretty big FF fan. My favorite is FFVIII.

.Wolfie-kun. August 11th, 2009 10:01 PM

Dazzle records gameplay from TV or something like that (I know what it is, I just can't word it properly XD)

Can't wait to see ACC, I lack Blu Ray myself =(

Yeah, Nobuo's performing live! Rather than I explain, I'll copy and paste their explanation. By the way, I'm going, no matter what. I live 15 miles from Chicago, and even if I do get the crummiest seat on the balcony of Rosemont Theatre, there's no way in hell I'm missing this. I haven't been so exited about something since Anime Central. Anyway, here's what they said:

Quote:

Distant Worlds: music from FINAL FANTASY Chicago is confirmed! For one night only, on December 12th at 8pm, with the Chicagoland Pops Orchestra and Festival Choir at the Rosemont Theatre.

Special guest artists: Susan Calloway, Nobuo Uematsu and the Chicago Mages

We are pulling out ALL the stops for this concert and have REALLY BIG NEWS! Nobuo Uematsu will not only be attending this show, HE WILL BE PERFORMING WITH US LIVE ONSTAGE! We will have a rock band led by Nobuo joining the orchestra and chorus. We have all been waiting for the premieres of Dancing Mad and J-E-N-O-V-A after you, the FF fans, voted for these new scores. And here they are! PLUS, ADVENT: ONE WINGED ANGEL - featuring Nobuo Uematsu with the rock band plus full orchestra and choir!

Nobuo-san hasn’t played live with us on stage since the “More Friends” concert in L.A and the “Voices” concert in Japan. This is his only confirmed appearance in North America in 2009 or 2010. It will be a great night!

Tickets go on sale July 27th, at 11 AM at http://www.ffdistantworlds.com/chicago2
All $150 tickets to the Rosemont Theatre performance include prime location seats, a post concert meet/greet with Nobuo, Arnie, and Susan, an autographed CD, the chance to take photos and have something signed!

Ohhh..if only I had $150! I would go see this in a heartbeat, especially because of Dancing Mad, the most epic final boss score in the entire Final Fantasy series, well, to me anyway.

Crystal-Heart August 25th, 2009 2:34 PM

Well, I picked up Dissidia Final Fantasy from GameStop this morning, literally right when they opened at 10:30. They unlocked the doors for me and I walked in and picked up the first copy sold for their store. I was wearing my Terra Branford outfit, with my hair dyed green of course.

I have to say, its a blast. I'm playing through it in the order I first played the respective character's game. So here is the exact order I'm going in.
X, VII, VIII, IX, IV, V, VI, I, II, III

As of writing this, I've beaten X & VII and am currently going through VIII. I've already bought alternate costumes for everyone but Tidus and the villians. Sadly, I found out that the costumes don't appear in story mode scenes, although you can switch in and out of them at anytime during a story.

Oh yeah, and announced last night, Dissidia: Universal Tuning. Your typical International/Final Mix version of a Square Enix series. Not much is known. It could be like FFVII:International and have nothing our versions don't or be like FFXII:International Zodiac Job System and be almost new game.

I'm glad its good. I downloaded the demo a couple of days ago and I keep playing through it. Can't wait till I can buy it (It comes out on the 4th september I think)

I would guess the new version would just be putting in the updates that got put in on the American/Europe release, hence "Tuning"

Love that you dressed up!

I love dressing up. I'm glad that my Terra costume has a tight skirt since it was windy and I went with her alternate costume as the basis for it so I didn't wear tights and it was a windy day. I also didn't wear the cape, it wasn't finished yet, the hair ornaments, except for the ribbon, or the weaponry, obviously. Oh, and I hope I don't get in trouble for mentioning this, when I was looking for screenshots of Terra in her alternate costume, I noticed that Terra wears white panties. I state this only because I try to be as accurate as possible when I cosplay, right down to the smallest, almost unnoticeable detail. Amazingly, I had shoes almost exactly like Terra's, except they were leather, so I grafted fabric on to it in the right pattern.

Here's the model I used for reference when I made the costume.

wee187 August 26th, 2009 1:32 PM

I've heard that Terra's English voice is mildly cringe-worthy. D:

Anyway, I'll wait to get Dissidia just a bit because I already own the japanese copy, and I want 358/2 Days more.

In the meantime I'm playing some more FFXII: IZJS. ;D

I had my first day of school today, ick.

None of the voices in Dissidia are all that bad, I kinda like most of them. Terra's sounds fine, as do the others. The only thing I have to say is that Ultimecia's VA in the JP version voiced her in a sultry way whereas her VA in the NA/EU version voices her as more of a self-important witch (in the mean sense, not the magic sense, even though she is a sorceress). Her voice is still good though.

Her voice is still good though.

Zidane's voice is the only one that is NOT fitting, IMO, and I think too, by most of people.

And, hey. I'd like to join. FF is awesome.

Yang Fang Leiden, Edward von Miur, Cid Pollendina. IV
Cloud Strife, Sephiroth at times. VII
Seifer Almasy, Headmaster Cid Kramer. VIII
Amarant Coral, Zorn and Thorn. IX
Wakka, Kimahri Ronso, Tidus at some parts. X
Vaan. XII

How can you not like Cloud, he's like my favorite character of all time (In final fantasy)!

I never liked Kimahri to be honest.

What FF Character can't you stick/stand?

Edge. Selphie(sometimes). Zorn and Thorn. Khimari. Ba'Gamnan.

All I can think of atm. I love most all characters, even some love goes to the ones I just mentioned.

Well to Me...It's addictive. XD Almost 8 hours saved data. And I've tried one minigame at least 50 times....er.....:)

What FF Character can't you stick/stand?
Aeris VII- She's just so....annoying after a while. She is cool even so but the girly-girly-ness?
Cid VII- Okay. He's amusing when he swears, but whats the point of using a spear to kill sephiroth?!
Reno - How do people find Reno amusing?! He's just annoying in my view.

Oyah, I'd like in please!

FFIV was my fave 2D FF, with VI in 2nd.

Welcome to the club btw

Jack_Atlas August 29th, 2009 3:48 PM

I never really got the grasp of the plot-lines on the other FF games, I barely get the plot of FF10 (Mainly 'cuse I only got through the first.... 10 mins of gameplay before I lost the game) and FF10-2 dosen't seem to have one, neither does FF12... God, why do I play these games?! *Looks at weapons arsenal* ahhhh... shiny swordie :3

FF12 and FFX-2 don't have plots? xD What kind of rock did you liver under? Sorry, I don't care if you don't like the games but please don't go as far as to say they don't have plots.

FFX-2 has a fine plot, even if it is nonlinear. And FF12 has such an immense plot that even with two sequals and three prequals there are still some unanswered questions. FF12 probably has the second most mature storyline to date, the only stories that would have a chance of preceding it are FFTactics or FF8. There hasn't been a Final Fantasy game yet that didn't have a plot, but just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's not there.

Maybe I overreacted. It's just really infuriating. Sorry.

EDIT: Oh yeah, my original reason for coming here was to say I bought Dissidia. So now I own the Japanese Version and the English one. ;)

I'll get to making them soon, providing I can find their mugshot pics, which I use to make the banners.

As for another comment, I like FFIV, its my fourth favorite, right behind VI, VIII, and VII.

My fav. is FFX and FFIX.

I simply like FFIX's battles and music, same goes for FFX.

Jack_Atlas August 30th, 2009 6:32 AM

Now, wee187, I NEVER said that I didn't like them. I don't like SOME of them, I think the franchise is very well developed, and every game has it's high points and low points. And some low points just really make me mad is all, lol

Graceful August 30th, 2009 7:44 AM

My Fave Is FFVII [Well Never!!XD] and then FFVI even though It gets boring at times....Damn Storyline!!

I don't like it, I keep getting stuck. I'm at the tower of Zot, reasonable levels, but I just seem to get creamed everytime.

I prefer FFIII on the DS, that was fun.

wee187 August 31st, 2009 3:35 AM

Well FFIV DS really booted up the difficulty from the past US versions, this now rivals the original SNES Japanese difficulty. It's an easy game to get stuck on, but with the right strategy it's not so bad. Oftentimes I would win battles with HP left in the single digits on the DS game, but then again, that's what makes it fun. It's those memorable battles that you barely win that make real marks upon you as a gamer. The most recent one I had was in my FFXII marathon run, fighting Cid in Draklor. Half of my party was dead before the first Rook dropped, but somehow I managed to pull that fight off. All I can say is that I ran through over 40 X-Potions, and about 25 Hi-Potons, and I abused the CET trick like mad. Fighting Cid with level 25-30 characters is one thing, but when they have extremely bad armor and Licenses, it's another. Each attack from Cid was doing damn near 800 damage a pop, but, like I said, I pulled it off. ;D I'd like to see what the crazy people that say FFXII plays itself would say if they saw my battle against Cid. That one will stay with me for a long time.

Same thing with Undying in IZJS first time, I was so underleveled, and I did literally 2 hunts only the entire game or so. Other great fights like that are Rubicante, and a lot of the bosses from the ealier games. FFVII-IX aren't that hard until the end of the games, so those weren't as bad. The story made up for it though, heh.

/endless rant

.Wolfie-kun. September 4th, 2009 2:38 PM

I think I just got lucky with it, the only boss I had big problems with other than the final boss is the Demon Wall, how he kept moving towards you. I was like '>=O NOOOEESSS' XDD

You should be. Its an awesome game, I've already got Terra & Cloud to Lvl 100, Squall will be following suit since he's at about Lvl 58.

I'm still excited about the possible sequel since it will for sure have Lightning & Kain Highwind, since Nomura wanted them both in the 1st game, and Kingdom Hearts may be put in, a controversial subject I know, but I love the idea, KH works well with FF.

wee187 September 5th, 2009 7:47 PM

Well as long as Ashe is in it next time around I'm happy. I really like Lightning, and Kain is really okay, but it won't be especially loved by wee187 unless Ashe is in there. And if Vaan is in there instead of Ashe.... *cringes and leaves the thread for now*

*lies, wee187 never leaves this thread. never.*

Here's my list of characters who should be in a next Dissidia! I'm going off the guess that each FF game would have TWO heroes next time for the most part.

FF1 - same
FF2 - Firion, Maria
FF3 - Onion Knight, Luneth please?
FF4 - Cecil, Kain
FF5 - Bartz, Lenna
FF6 - Terra, Locke
FF7 - Cloud, Tifa
FF8 - Squall, Rinoa
FF9 - Zidane, Garnet
FF10 - Tidus, Yuna
FF11 - same
FF12 - Ohhh this is hard. I want Gabranth replaced/added along with Cid and/or Vayne, with Ashe, Balthier, and/or Basch as the heroes. Preferably Ashe vs Vayne.
FF13 - Lightning, Snow
FFTactics - Ramza, Mustadio(I think Deleta might make a better villain than hero)
FFTA - Marche, Ritz
FFTA2 - Luso, Adelle

I wouldn't mind seeing FFX-2 or Crystal Chronicles in there either, although I don't like Crystal Chronicles much.

Lol, I love katakana and stuff. That's what playing IZJS does to me. ヘイスガ = Haste ;D

wow i actually somehow forgot bout you guys ;_;

jus cuz i dont feel like readin backwards :P

how did that marathon go wee?

wee187 September 7th, 2009 7:57 PM

Marathon went pretty good, lol. We had to make a few adjustments to the schedule but we did get through pretty much everything. I ended up not beating FFXII, but I don't think people minded because I got pretty damn far anyway. I was underleveled the entire way through pretty much and I got up to Tyrant in Giruvegan. I also got two Fomalhauts, a Diamond Armlet, and a Dragon Whisker within the the first 20 hours. I beat Cid in under 13 hours... and that was probably the most epic fight I've ever done in FFXII. I was 90% dead before the first rook even died and somehow I ended up winning the battle. Cid was doing around 800-900 dmg per shot because of my low equipments, so I made a pattern of One person attack, Other person Heal, other person attack. Then one would die in a second. One person attack, other Person use Phoenix Down. Then I used CET trick to reset everyone's ATB, and went One person Attack, other person X-Potion, other person attack. So I got about 4 hits in per minute. That fight lasted damn near an hour.

All other games went well too. FFVII was beaten, as was Crisis Core, Dirge, and then I played some FFIX as well. FFXII IZJS was pwnt by FF12GM, but IZJS is easier to beat because you can get the Diamond Armlet before the palace, as well get your HP to at least 1000 before Barheim, depending on the job. That, and the L1 speedup feature, lolz.

Been wondering guys. I'm planning on doing another youtube playlist, just because I've been streaming more than video-making, and I'm wondering which game I should do. I'm thinking either FFX, FFIV, or FFXII IZJS.

I haven't played IV for an excrtiatingly long time... what do you guys think?

wow. i would ask for a FFXII vid since im constantly lost on it :P

just got to the part where you have to trek across the fields FOR FREAKIN EVEEEERRRRRR to get into archades. well that took me 3 hrs aimlessly searching when it was right there in front of me the ENTIRE TIME, then got to the boss/es inside: the Ahriman ghost thingy. thought okay thats fine, my weapons are doing alot more damage then belias and mateus/ Quickening combos(red spiral/fires of war/northswain's glow)
so i start bashing and what does it do???? copies itself 4 TIMES!!!! now suddenly i cant even attack. i was pissed when i finally lost too because on an HP bar that was this long:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i got it down to this:
------
...then i died! :( there was a lot of swearing here lol lets just say that. since i didnt kill the crystal bug before that :P it just kept healing and spamming spells so i didnt bother wasting my items, which were exhausted in the boss fight anyway >: (
for lvls, i got vaan at lvl 34, and everyone else is about lvl 30-31.

Ahriman, eh? Taken directly from my walkthrough:
Spoiler:

HP: 62149
Steal: Sky Jewel, Death Powder, Maduin Gear
Difficulty: Medium
Strategy:
If you haven't realized by now, about 80% of the bosses in this game appear completely at random, having no real relevance to the story. Let's see there's Firemane, Mimic Queen, Tiamat, Elder Wyrm, Vinuskar, Mandragoras, and now Ahriman. These bosses can be fun, yes, but they're really just there to be bosses, because real story bosses are too far and few. This fight starts off very smoothly, but it's a nice thing to have Jackboots equipped on everyone(I told you to buy them way back... remember?). Don't use guns much, because guns don't seems to affect ghosts for some reason. Bows work great here. Ahriman will try to Poison you, which can be fixed easily. He'll also Immobilize you, which is nullified with Jackboots. He'll also try to put Doom on you, which can be healed via Remedy+Remedy Lore on the License Board, but it's better just to let Doom go through, and just revive with a Phoenix Down.
That's the least of your problems. Ahriman will start randomly cloning himself around halfway through the fight, which can make it hard, because they all have the same name, and appearance. You won't know if you're attacking the real boss or just a shadow clone(Kage bunshin no jutsu!) until you try.
About when Ahriman has 1/6 left of HP, it can get desperate. In this case, just find the right Ahriman, and jam it with a nice Quickening Chain. This fight isn't too bad on the whole, you just have do a lot of running around.
Also, take note, there's an Elixer chest on one of the edges, along with a Phoenix Down one on the other side.

Wow! Your keen! How long have you had it?

I've had it since it came out in North America on August 25th. I'm working on Cloud of Darkness now.

My brother's won't read discs anymore because he dropped it in the toilet by accident. Other than that, it still works.

Ouch, that sucks. :( When did he do that?

Crystal-Heart September 21st, 2009 12:27 PM

Some time ago, its just that he sold every game he had for it, which wasn't much, and never tried putting one in until we found a copy of MegaMan Maverick Hunter X. He can now just play demos.

He should use it as a hub for all PS1 Classics hub, like FF7 and such. Speaking on that subject, FFTactics, the original ps1 version, is now also on NA PSN, for $9.99. I'd get it but I have these lines on my PSP I need to get rid of first. Plus I already have the remake PSP version, and the original on CD.

He doesn't like any of the games on there, nor does he have the memory, since I took his 2gb memstick so I could download Final Fantasy VII on mine. I did give him my 1gb one, not to mention that he lost my flash drive, thus making this a fair trade off. While he loves VII's characters, he doesn't like how it plays, the only RPGs he likes are Action-RPGs like Kingdom Hearts.
