For a fanclub of something so awesome, posting is kinda slow...(I would like to join as well, is there a right of passage I have to go through in which I brag about how Emerald Weapon always kills me?)

Solo_Kid December 21st, 2009 10:00 AM

I wanna join!! ^^

I LOVE FINAL FANTASY! I've played nearly all of the games.

Also, have anyone seen the FFXIII Lightning PS3? ;o

Crystal-Heart December 21st, 2009 7:25 PM

No test or right of passage needed, all you need to join is to be a fan of this wonderful RPG series.
So both of you are added. I too am surprised at how slow this club is, when its little sibling series club, the Kingdom Hearts Fan Club, is always so active.

So what are you guys getting FFXIII on? PS3 or 360?

Crystal-Heart December 22nd, 2009 2:27 AM

I'm getting mine on the PS3, it seems to be the superior version since it contains a little more, although all I'm currently aware of is the option for Japanese VAs.

wee187 December 23rd, 2009 7:16 PM

I'll be getting the ps3 version as well. I have a 360 but I'm getting ps3 in a week or so, so I'll just have to get the ps3 version then won't I. :D

Vanitas~ December 23rd, 2009 7:52 PM

I'll be getting it for the 360. I don't have and won't have a PS3 by the release date, and I'll be getting it when it comes out. I'll get a PS3 eventually, though, and will most likely get Versus XIII when I do.

.Wolfie-kun. December 24th, 2009 5:23 AM

Exactly the same as Vanitas. 360 for me but a PS3 will eventually be mine :3

I'm glad you guys like it, I found it on Gelbooru (an upload-anything-that's-Japanese image site, so NSFW) and I've been saving it for a while just to post it here for you guys.

I just have 2 final fantasy games, better than nothing. Its X and X-2.

Favorite char in X: Kimahri Ronso and Yuna
Favorite char in X-2: Brother
Favorite Aeon: Anima, Shiva and Bahamut

I have no idea how to put in teh banners into my signature, if someone could send me a link how to put in Kimahri Ronso and Brother's banners to my signature, it would be greatful.

Crystal-Heart December 27th, 2009 10:00 AM

It says how to put in banners on the front page. Just place it in your sig..although you don't have to if you don't want to.
I only have one of Kimahri, since Brother doesn't have a party member pic.

Well, I'm in the process of downloading Final Fantasy VIII, my favorite FF for the PlayStation, and third favorite all around, for the PSP. Hopefully it'll work this time, I literally had 3 minutes left out of 2 hours and my connection failed.

Thanks wee, I'm glad you liked it.

Yeah, I was in the process of making my theme and watching other FFVIII amvs when you posted it. ^.^
And of course I had to go with Rinoa, since she's one of my three favs, along with Squall and Quistis.

Although I have a soft spot for a female version of Squall.
Lots of Fem Squall pics. (I especially like the first and second to last ones (so cute!))

Vanitas~ January 1st, 2010 12:57 PM

Those are both amazingly awesome and disturbing. I'm not sure what I should say. O_o

Crystal-Heart January 2nd, 2010 5:39 PM

Yeah, I know. I can be a weirdo like that at times. I can't help it..I like when guy characters are made into girl characters.

Anyways, who is gonna get Final Fantasy XIII when it releases? I can't since I don't own a PS3 or 360, but my friend is probably gonna get it for his PS3 when it releases, so I can play it then.

Vanitas~ January 2nd, 2010 9:45 PM

ME! I already have about forty bucks left over saved. I WAS gonna save it for a PSP for BbS, but I have a new source of income and should be able to get all three now. I may have to wait on HGSS, though. No, I'll get them. Dang. Too many games, not enough money. :/

Crystal-Heart January 5th, 2010 5:29 PM

I just bought a fun book I found at Barnes & Noble's, Final Fantasy & Philosophy. As the title implies, it takes elements, such as characters and storyline, from the Final Fantasy series and compares it to elements in philosophy.

wee187 January 6th, 2010 3:14 PM

Yeah, I've heard about that book, in fact i was looking at a description of it online just ten minutes ago. It seems nice, but far too focused on VII, maybe a little of VI, and not much else. If it encompassed the entire series like it should, then I would definitely give it a read. However it's not licensed by Square at all, so I'm not sure how it is.

9 - Final Fantasy III
10 - Final Fantasy V
11 - Final Fantasy II
12 - Final Fantasy

(Final Fantasy XI I can't count because I can't afford to play it. I don't have XIII either yet, but I'm watching tokyodomesf4 and rinimt play it on youtube, and I can tell it will take that place anyway.)

It has a chapter just for Kefka. There are a few mentions to others. I'll review it when I'm done.

There is a certain model of controllers that does not function with FFXII at a certain part of the game, I think right after Cid and the Draklor labs, or somewhere around Balfonheim Port it stops working. Ironically, that same form of controller came with the PS2 bundle of FFXII back in 2006. Square acknowledged the problem but I'm not sure if they fixed that bug in the Greatest Hits release of the game.

Oh, and I know this is premature a bit, but welcome to the FF Fanclub. :D

I just finished the book, it was pretty enjoyable.

Vanitas~ January 8th, 2010 4:06 PM

Oh really? What could a peson look forward to should they decide o read it?

It's funny. My sister had to write a paper way back when and she chose to do religious theologies in the FF universe. I'm sure she woulda liked that back then.

Akeraz January 8th, 2010 5:19 PM

Oh, Wow, it's been ages since I posted.
I had a name change in that time, too, from ジャック

So yeah, I finally got a PS3, and regained my ability to play Final Fantasy VII.
(though, I've been playing it on my PSP, which was transferred from my PS3).

and as for this question

What are your favorite Final Fantasies in order?
1 - Final Fantasy X
2 - Final Fantasy IV
3 - Final Fantasy VIII
4 - Final Fantasy VI
5 - Final Fantasy VII
6 - Final Fantasy III
7 - Final Fantasy XII

Those seven are the ones I've played most in-depth, I don't feel I could order any others.

They had an entire chapter for Kefka asking a simple question. Was he truly insane? He was murderous, evil, and definitely a nihilist but everything he tried was based in a twisted reason. He poisoned the water as it would do exactly what he wanted, allow him to overtake Castle Doma. An insane person would do something without a reason to do so.
Makes you think about Kefka in a different way.

Vanitas~ January 8th, 2010 7:13 PM

Hmm. I still believe he was insane for other reasons, though. Now he's just an evil sadist who has an odd infatuation for still dressing as a jester, even though he technically ruled the world.

Hai gaiz.

What are your favorite Final Fantasies in order?
Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings

Those are the only ones I've liked, truth to be told. I never liked the lame grinding in the GBA versions of FFI, II, IV, V or VI. D=

If you're gonna lay those three then why not play the original FFT and FFXII as well?

10. Final Fantasy XII

Those are all the ones I've either completed or close to completing (I think V is the only one where I'm still on the final dungeon, the rest I've finished).

Hopefully XIII will be pretty high in this list when it finally comes out.

I'm sorry but I really didn't like XII that much, I only put it in the list to go with the FFs I've finished.

Take a look at all the games I've tried, and guess what game consoles I own.

I'd love to play Tactics though. They don't have laws! Man, they're annoying.

I love Final Fantasy.
I've played:
Final Fantasy I
Final Fantasy II
Final Fantasy III
Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy V
Final Fantasy VI
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy X

I couldn't get the others but I do plan on it. IV and VII are my favourite games. I've played the original and GBA games of I-IV and VI. They're awesome.

My favourite characters are Sabin (VI) and Palom (IV). Rydia, Terra and Porom are awesome too though.

IMO most of the Crystal Chronicle games aren't the best, however, the newest one on the wii "The Crystal Bearers" on the plus looks like the mini-series finally has a game with a noteworthy story. On the other hand, it's barely an RPG, more like a move-stuff-with-the-wii-mote kind of game. Yet were I you I'd pick it up. The main character, Layle, seems pretty cool and down to earth like Zidane.

Ninja Caterpie January 12th, 2010 9:37 PM

Ooh, sounds fun.

Might get that game for m'self.

argh, Cid's voice is catching on me.

EDIT: I'm on a roll, seriously. Second fanfic out, two-part with the second part yet to come.

Mario The World Champion January 13th, 2010 8:44 PM

I was hoping to find a Final Fantasy club here.

Anyway, I got my hands on Dissidia Final Fantasy and have been playing it for a while now. Because of that, I dusted off my copy of Final Fantasy III DS and started playing that again. But it's been over a year since I did play that game. However, there's one thing I want to get before I resume playing it.

I WANT THE ONION KNIGHT JOB!!! However, I need help to get that mission. Stupid Wi-Fi crap. And I'm not sure people here still play the game these days. I still haven't checked my game's friend code. That's how long I haven't played it.

I forgot how the whole thing works, so can you help me out here?

I got the FF3 DS game, though I never realy played it.

What would people need in order to help you?

Mario The World Champion January 14th, 2010 7:55 PM

Basically, I need people who have the game and Friend Codes so I can get the mission to get the Onion Knight job. So, there has to be people here who have possibly done that.

Crystal-Heart January 15th, 2010 10:58 AM

I haven't really played too much of my Final Fantasy III DS, I need to get on that.

Oh, and do you wanna join Mario?

No, FFXIV is 100% online. FFXIII is just the next single-player FF game, on the PS3 and XBOX360, released March 9th everywhere. Here's the trailer:

Final Fantasy should be only for consoles and not made a MMO, I agree to that.

It could be an MMO if it had a single plot. But heck, it got many many plots, which would make a MMO not really that interesting (plot-wise though).

Crystal-Heart January 20th, 2010 9:33 AM

I have no problem with Final Fantasy XI & XIV..I just think they shouldn't have been in the numbered series, thus they should have been called Final Fantasy Online & Final Fantasy Online II. I mean, Final Fantasy IX was originally going to be a spin-off but they never even considered XI to not be a numbered game?!

Graceful January 20th, 2010 10:22 AM

And I Also Feel The Technical Demo Of FFVII For PS3 Shouldn't be made into a Game. It just Spoils It. Text Boxes are gonna get replaced by voice actors and nothing will be the same as the original. Just Better Graphics. (& Some People Who Want To Play It Will Have To Save up money to buy a PS3.....And Those DO Cost A Small Fortune.....)

I'd have to disagree Graceful. I'm always for remakes of earlier games, like FFIII & FFIV for the DS. Personally, I couldn't care less about the old text boxes and I'd actually prefer voice acting. To say that nothing would be the same would be a gross exaggeration, the story, characters, etc. would still be the same for the most part (maybe some lines would be altered to better fit with lip syncing), not to mention it would have a better translation overall (the PSone original had a hit & miss one, such as making you believe Tseng died when he didn't). They may include references to the sequels and prequels, such as more or extended flashback scenes featuring Zack, the ruins of Banora Village, maybe seeing Denzel, seeing Yuffie & Vincent's part in the ending (the opening part of DoC), or maybe hearing or seeing references to Deepground. Obviously they'd implement their retcon stuff, such as the SOLDIER 1st Class uniform being Black instead of Violet, the redesigned Buster Sword, and the redesigned SOLDIER Emblem among other things. Overall, I'd love to see similar treatment given to other games like FFVI, FFVIII, & FFIX.

Oh, and its not too bad anymore since PS3s had that price-cut and they'll likely want to get other games on the system as well, such as FFXIII, FFvXIII, and possibly Kingdom Hearts III. I know I'll be getting one, regardless of whether or not FFVII is remade.

Rokusasu January 20th, 2010 2:23 PM

I'm currently playing through FFVII on my PSP, having sold my PS1 version of the game because I just couldn't get on with it on a large screen (and it's much easier to move around using the PSP's D-Pad). Every time I see a cutscene, I wonder what it'd be like if the game was like the FFs that we're used to now, with full voice-acting and the ability to see the characters' faces and their environments from a variety of angles. It's not like they haven't got VAs for the characters (Advent Children and Crisis Core have featured decent voices).

Also what I've noticed is what Crys said, the translation is a little iffy; if I didn't already know the plot line then I'd be confused. XD;

I would love it if other FF games, especially VI and VIII, would be re-made as well as FFVII. If not on PS3, the DS and PSP are more than capable of handling them (proven by Days and Crisis Core), and would introduce a new generation of fans to the earlier games in the series. o: And they would make lots of money.

Final Fantasy club. Must join and invade the conversation.

See, I think the only thing that makes me a little nervous about a remake of Final Fantasy VII is the tone. Anyone that's played through the game knows it's a bit of an angst fest, but there were always those little quirky scenes to lighten it up a bit. I just worry it'll be hard to carry over that same feel to updated graphics. Like Cloud in drag? The bathtub scene in Honeybee Inn?

Not that I wouldn't appreciate a remake. I think pretty much all the games pre-PS2 era deserve the luxury of a remake.

Ninja Caterpie January 20th, 2010 6:58 PM

Meh, I don't mind really, if it's one of those grindfest FF's like all the games before. Don't like those.

Rokusasu January 21st, 2010 4:03 PM

It'd be nice if they brought back random battles in the FF series, but with an option to change encounter rates or something. =/ Would make exploring and grinding a lot less tedious. :3

Ugh no. That's the thing I most despised in the old FFs.

Cloud in drag could be done, just look at him in recent games, it wouldn't be hard to see him as a girl. The bathtub scene wasn't too explicit either, it could be done.

Oh, and welcome.

Most RPG games in general are grindfests, it practically a staple of the RPG genre. If you don't like grinding, play Final Fantasy VIII. The enemies levels are based on your own. Although, I've never had to grind in a FF title.

If you don't like grinding, never play the Disgaea series, an excellent SRPG, like FFT, grinding is a must, even just between two levels.

Ninja Caterpie January 22nd, 2010 11:38 PM

Oh, no, I mean grinding as in boring repetitive lame-ness where you can spam one button and get through the battle (or even HOLD one button in the case of the older games).

FFT, Disgaea, Fire Emblem, love those games. There's strategy, even in the grinding.

Mario The World Champion January 23rd, 2010 12:12 AM

I'm curious. For all of those who have got FF III DS AND managed to get the Onion Knight mission, I'm still curious on how you manage to get it. I got conflicting information.

One of them was sending 7 letters via Mognet to a friend or friends via Nintendo Wi-Fi and 4 in game to Topapa, then you'll get the mission where you can become an Onion Knight.

The other way is sending a letter via Mognet to each character in game, plus send one to a friend via Wi-Fi, then sending 4 letters to Topapa.

I did manage to get my FF III DS Friend code, but this is still giving me a headache, trying to figure out which way is right.

@ Crystal-Heart: Sorry to bother you but I can't see my name on the members list. You accepted me on Page 40. Thanks.

I'm sorry, I must have said that the day my internet kept dropping or loaded pages oddly. Don't worry, you're on there now, in your rightful place, right above Ninja Caterpie (in order that you joined, not favorites hehehe).

Ah, I see what you mean now. Usually grinding just refers to level grinding. I guess I prefer that.
For instance, I love FFT, Fire Emblem, and Disgaea, but I've never beat an SRPG game I owned because I sucked at making strategies.
I do own some though, FFT: War of the Lions, Disgaea DS, Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword, Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones, & Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon.

Oh, no, what I meant was mind-numbing, repetitive, hell grinding.

You don't need godly tactics for most SRPGS though. The FFT(A) series is particularly easy. Disgaea is a little harder, and so is Shin Megami Tensei, but that's nothing a mind-numbin grind can't take care of. Fire Emblem and Advance Wars though - they need some more tactics. You can't overgrind in those (well, Arena Abuse is a choice in FE, but that's not the point).

Dear me, I'm going off topic.

I Was Playing FFX-2 Yesterday And I Couldn't Stand The Opening So I Put It On Mute. And This Is What I Wish To Make A Topic . . . .

Which real Emotion/1000 Words (1000 no Kotoba) English Versions Were Better? Jade's Or Koda Kumi's?

Which real Emotion/1000 Words (1000 no Kotoba) English Versions Were Better? Jade's Or Koda Kumi's?

I like them both. I never really hated on any kind of music though(excluding rap, I don't mind hating on that when I feel like it) but most music usually fits okay and I'm not a stickler about it.

A game OST however, that's a different story. For example I could criticize FFX-2's non-vocal compositions all day, but I don't dislike either singer for the sung songs.

I'd Have To Say Kumi's real Emotion AND 1000 words Because She Singing Put So Much Emotion In It - Never Mind The Heavy Japanese Accent & Stupid Sounding Lyrics She Put Emotion Into Both Songs and I Have Nothing to Be Mean About Her But Jade's Were okay but she didn't put as much of emotion into the songs. Anyway I can't stand her real Emotion As...Well....It's Like "Pop-ish" I Prefer Kumi's Which Rock Was somehow Involved (Plus I Like The Electricfied "What Can I do For You?")

I like 'em both really. I kinda prefer the English 1000 Words though, because I can understand what she's saying since I don't speak Japanese fluently.
Like wee, I never really hate music, except for rap (like how they incorporated rap into the opening song of the US version of Tatsunoko vs Capcom. It was a beautiful song on its own and even the translated parts that don't have rap in the US version's are great..they didn't need "J-C" at all!!)
