Changes in Pokemon Platinum

What changes did you like in Platinum compared to Diamond and Pearl? I just started the game, so I don't know a lot about it yet, but I'm really glad that the dialogue is different. I was very happy when the beginning was different, because I was a little afraid that the game would be EXACTLY the same with just very minor changes.

Yes, I knew nothing about Platinum until I got it. Heh.

Anyway, what other changes and differences did you guys like? I'm sure to post more once I get farther in the game, but for now I enjoy the new dialogue.

So far I got mines today, but I already knew from previous news that there a re TONS of changes...but for now all I have noticed is a change in Razor Leaf and how it looks, trainers having different pokemon from before, the scenery in each town is all a little different, gyms and rival move before battle, pokemon have a motion for their back sprite, HP bar is now black and gray, the pokétch has a new look w/two buttons, and the bottom battle screen has a different color scheme to it, oh and the pokédex is different as well, and some dialogue from ppl too! phew that is a lot of new things just for the start of the game...rofl

I like the battle frontier, new legendary forms, and the new rotoms

Johnathon March 25th, 2009 2:34 PM

Well, those are all of the major changes, but some minor things are a near complete revamp of nearly all of the graphics if looked at closely, better appropriation with use of HMs (You actually have a reason to use them again!), and the gym leaders are battled in the logical order this time.

I like how they added more pokemon to the sinnoh dex. Especially Porygon, that Porygon the guy in veilstone gave me is a hero. With all the poison pokemon and zubat (and evoutions) it's psybeam and discharge were galactic's downfall!

What Porygon? There was a . . .Porygon?. . .

There is a guy in Veilstone. I think It was the house closest to the Galactic building.

For free? When did you get him? How many badges did you have? sorry for the bombardment of questions.

Shem March 25th, 2009 5:06 PM

For free. my first time in Veilstone. I think I only had two badges. I think I talked to everyone before I did the gym, but it may have been three.

Dam, do you think it is to late for me with six badges?

Shem March 25th, 2009 5:11 PM

He'll probably still give him to you. But he's only 25 so he'll be behind your team.

25, huh, kind of like togetic and Gibite, he will still be of good use, until

Giratina appears, pretty soon, you get him before the seventh badge,

right? It was a long time since i beat Pearl, Two years.

Shem March 25th, 2009 5:16 PM

Giratina? You get him after the 7th badge.

BHwolfgang March 25th, 2009 5:17 PM

I don't think much has changed, only the sprites. That's it.

Seroulsy! No wonder I got mad, They give us the mascot ALWAYS after the 7th badge!

Working Class Hero March 25th, 2009 5:37 PM

To get Lickilicky, Tangrowth, and whatever else, you had to teach them the needed move then level up in D/P. In Platinum, right when they learn the move they evolve. Unless I remember incorrectly. But, my Tangela evolved right when it learned Ancientpower instead of leveling up with it. Then I will put..Battle Frontier. X3

Get Away From That Outlet, Pikachu! March 25th, 2009 5:44 PM

I love the new sprites, the old ones were rather meh.

Nnoitra Jiruga March 25th, 2009 5:47 PM

New sprites were sexier...
The animations were even sexier than that...
...Basically everything was sexy.
