Pokemon Vigilante

Pokemon Vigilante
Hack of: Pokemon FireRed

Introduction

Hello. My name is Firefly17, also known as Fyfy in some parts (call me whichever). I have been helping to create Pokemon games for almost a year now, with my name being on the credits for an MMO and an RPG Maker game. I have dabbled with AdvanceMap several times before, so now I am getting into the ROM-hacking world. SO here I present to you my first hack. Pokemon Vigilante. It's back story will be based off the backstory of my fanfic (of the same name). I hope you will enjoy playing this hack (when it's first beta gets released). Please show you support.

Plot
The Hajin region is a small landmass to the north west Kanto. Cut off from the larger regions by a dangerous ocean, it is almost completley self-sustaining, despite its small size. It's only means of travel to other regions is a Zeppelin airport at Cloud City. In recent years, small radical groups of Hajinese people have begun to plot the invasion of other regions to gain prosperity. These small groups died out quickly, but now, one group finally has begun to move. Simply called the "Organization', this group is made up of 16 elite masters of each Pokemon type, each leading multiple apprentices. They are collecting Pokemon to form an army. Their first target: The Kanto region.

Opening
You are 16 years old. As an employee at the Pokemart in Barley Town, you missed out on starting a Pokemon journey as Professor Douglas gave away his starting Pokemon to other local children. One morning, your boss gets a call from the Professor, asking if it ould be alright for some to deliver his shopping, as he is caught up in research. So, your boss decides to send you. Professor Douglas lives at the top of the hill across the river running through Barley Town. When you reach the lab, you find the door open. You enter, finding the place ransacked. You are about to leave when two men come from upstairs. They are robbing all of the Professor's pokemon! They see you and attack with a Mankey, knocking you across the room. You look around for something to defend yourself, seeing a computer lying next to you. On the screen is the Pokemon storage system. It only has three Pokemon left. You choose one quickly, just before the power runs out, and use it to battle the Mankey. Whether you win or lose, the burglars decide to leave when they hear someone coming, escaping out of the window. Professor Douglas' wife appears and asks what happened. After you explain, she begs you to take the Pokemon and a Pokedex and go find her husband.

You job is to travel throughout Hajin and find Professor Douglas, whilst collecting info on the 'Organization'. Along the way you will have the oppurtunity to gather allies, to help you thwart the 'Organization' in the final battle in Kanto.

Features
  • New starters: - Currently Poochyena/Snubbull/Venonat. Will probably change.
  • New Region: Hajin
  • Revamped Kanto
  • New ways to travel: Zeppelin and Train
  • All Pokemon from 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation available.
  • Some DPPt Pokemon will be available. (Definately Leafeon and Gallade due to an NPC later in the game.)
  • No gyms or league: They're there, but you don't battle for badges or champion any more. Your job is to defeat the 16 masters.
  • New hero/heroine: A new boy and girl character.
  • New and revamped Pokemon sprites
  • Probably some other stuff!

Plans
I started out in Pokemon games as a mapper, so my first priority will getting a good portion of Hajin mapped for the first release. I will be included new tiles in several places, though to begin with I'll use mostly what's available, then update later. Second will be getting the plot scripted for at least the first three towns. After that will be the new hero/heroine sprites and possibly the planned DPPt pokemon.
This hack will likely be pretty slow going. I'm new to this kind of scripting, am busy with other projects and am a professional procrasinator. I also have the tendencey to change things a lot. It won't take to much time though, as when I get down to it, I can work pretty fast. Please don't bug me for Betas and such though, I like to work without pressure and people nagging cause me to make mistakes through rushing.
Thanks for reading.

You could go with a Psychic/Fighting/Dark triangle for your starter pokemon. Just a random suggestion. Like Natu/Makuhita/Poochyena, or something. Abra or Ralts and Machop would work, but I can't think of a three-evo dark pokemon right now... Don't remember if there is one.

Psychic > Fighting > Dark > psychic doesn't work. It needs to work in reverse order as well.
For example:
Fire >super effective> Grass >super effective> Water >super effective> Fire
This also works in reverse:
Fire >not very effective> Water >not very effective> Grass >not very efective> Fire

Psychic > Fighting > Dark > Psychic doesn't:
Dark >not very effective> fighting >not very effective> Psychic >DOESN'T EFFECT> Dark

The fact that Psychic doesn't effect dark breaks the triangle. Of course, Firefly17 is free to have whatever starters no matter if there's a triangle or not. I don't think there's really that much need anyway. (so why was I just going on and on about it? xD)

This sounds quite interesting, and it has a good storyline. I hope this isn't abandonned like alot of hacks are...

Hmm. I'll think about it. I may go for a starter trio with no effectiveness or resistance if possible. The three I have at the moment were just quickly thought up to replace my original trio of Treecko, Charmander, Totodile. I want to stay away from the Nintendo starters.
Anywho, the starters aren't actually that important. They don't really effect the storyline at the moment, I just wanted something different.

~Undedfined~, you won;t have to worry about this being dropped. But development maybe a little slow.
