Chansey in the Safari Zone? Too hard to catch!
In the Safari Zone on my yellow version at like 3 am I was playing a game in the Safari Zone. I was trying to catch Chansey. I tried to throw a ball at the only one I saw. It said I 'missed' the Pokemon! That's never happened in my Yellow before! Please Help me!
It happens. More so in the Safari Zone than anywhere else. The only thing I can tell you is to keep trying.

Eventually a ball will hit. You just have to keep it there long enough to have the chance to throw more than one at it.
That's the problem. If i hit it with a rock or lure it with bait, it runs. If i throw a ball it misses and Chansey runs away. :( That's uh... the only problem that I have. My friend says it worked for him and it NEVER said it missed when HE tries to get a Chansey. That's why I am really confused here.
Never throw a rock XD. Honestly it's more luck than anything. I go to throwing pokéballs right away.
I understand rocks make them angry but it did help me score a Marowak... ^^" Yeah, luck really will be the only thing to help me here.
I feel ya. Chansey was ridiculously hard for me to catch in Red and Yellow. I had the same problem. Only advice I have for you is to just be patient, and keep trying. Eventually you'll get one.
You can get Chansey in the Unknown Dungeon I'm pretty sure - maybe only in Yellow?
Tauros is harder. |
My friend told me that the reason why Pokeballs missed Chansey was because it was too fat, and you had to throw rocks at it in order to make it angry so it lost weight. D: So every Chansey I saw in R/B/Y, I threw rocks at. XD; I always got confused as to why Pokeballs missed Dratini, when it wasn't as fat as Chansey. D: But, the rock -> ball method has worked for me on two occasions.

Though I always try for a rock and then throwing a ball, but it often takes a long time since the pokemon often runs away after one or two turns. >.> Persistence and patience are your best allies in the Safari Zone. :/ |
It's all about patience, chance, and luck. That's basically what you have and need to do when it's time to capture a rare Pokémon.
It took me ten tries to get Tauros. After that, I leveled him to level eighty. Anyways, like I was sayin', you just need to try more. I'm sure you'll get one someday. ^^ If not, then would your friend mind trading his/her Chansey to your game? |
It took me FOREVER to catch Chansey. I mean I got sooo frustrated, But if you just be patient and keep at it you will eventually catch it.
The funny thing is, even now when I'm having difficulty catching a Pokemon, I still throw a rock at them so they'll 'lose weight' and go in the ball. XD
But the sign on the pen that Chansey's in outside the Safari Zone sums the whole thing up pretty well: Catching one is all down to chance. Or something, I can't remember word for word. XD |
I hated trying to catch Chansey in the original Red and Blue. I ended up giving up on it and catching a Scyther instead. ^_^
Yeah I hated chatching chansey... I recomend going to the same place you found chansey before and then just throw ball after ball. In my experience with chansey if it doesn't miss it will catch. I also hated kangaskan.
Kangaskhan was also a huge pain. I also seemed to notice how Parasects seem to be harder to catch then regular Paras.
I remember that once I got lucky and caught it...I don't know how I did though. It was only that one time, too...every other time I kept screwing up and it kept running away XD Dratini...now THAT was a Pokemon I would go and try to catch instead ;)
Well to me, Chansey and Kanghaskan were quite easy to catch cause they always appear in the same area, i got both in under 5-10 safari balls!
i hated trying to catch chansey and kangaskhan in red and blue but in yellow for some reason i could catch kangakhans without fail in the end i had like 10 of them
i know this is the wrong game but its similiar. I just caught one in fire red :D haha, im training it up to a blissey or just to level 50 and leaving it as a chansey
Hmm... Well, if you're really struggling, you could do a semi-cheat? If you run into a Chansey and don't catch it, you could then leave the Safari Zone and fly to Cinnabar. If you surf up and down that bit of coast where you usually catch Missingno, you'll find all of the Safari Zone pokemon. You'll get a Chansey eventually, and they'll be much easier to battle :D No weird levels/tricks either - they battle just like normal pokemon.
I could never find chansey in the game, I had to relay on a friend to help me, I was also unable to find one in FR/LG as well
:t354:TG |
Hardest pokemon to catch in the Safari Zone was for me pinser i guess bug pokemon are hard to catch at level 19 haha
I never got Chansey in Blue. And I spent hours trying to catch it. :'(
And in FR/LG I had to trade with my cousin (who had told me I had just missed a chance to have his male Chansey (he was kind of crazy...)). Impossible little things... (as soon as you have one, you can breed a million, though!) |
