Old Man is actually Old Woman.

Has anyone noticed that the Old men in Platinum actually turn out to be old Women when you battle them?

I was like WTF when I first saw it. At first I tought, hmm, Prolly fergot to change that one, but after that I was LOLing so hard.

Honest Eyes March 30th, 2009 5:27 PM

What...? If you are referring to their long hair, that is actually not at all rare in Japanese culture. It does not mean that they are women.

Nnoitra Jiruga March 30th, 2009 5:30 PM

0___o
You mean those old men with the Ace Trainer music? They're men...not women...

One was in the way to Snowpoint City, and another in the cave before the Elite 4.

Are you talking about the kimono? Those are not rare to see on males, either.

subaku March 30th, 2009 7:16 PM

To mStar,

I suggest reading up on Japanese history, the evidence that males did indeed wear such garments is not really that shocking of a revelation.

linkinpark187 March 31st, 2009 6:14 AM

i'm not normally very mean, but...

i'm lol'ing at mStar's ignorance.

http://pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dptr/dptr054.pngIts not even a Kimono. Its a pants style that many martial artists some Samurai wear. The red pants and white top right? They are men.

Suzume March 31st, 2009 6:23 AM

Those Veteran trainers, right? Yeah, they are men with long hair and a kimono. But I MUST admit that I've found them confusing, too, because their overworld sprites look so different. When they challenge you, they look like bald old men with a white beard, but they turn out to be much younger-looking. And they even have a long, dark grey hair! It has always felt pretty weird to me.

Haza March 31st, 2009 6:24 AM

I guess they only had room for one old man sprite. Like how Ace trainers and Dragon tamers share the same sprite.

Lazy sons of a...

ANYWAYS!
Those "women" are men, maybe if you studied up on a bit of Japanese culture you wouldn't be so surprised.
Even without it, it's hard to mistake them for women...

I mean, yeah, that's what it is. My dad wears garb not unlike that while he is training.

inhisxeyes March 31st, 2009 8:25 AM

I believe those are hakama, a type of traditional Japanese pants originally worn by men.
The little sprites don't even have feminine features.. T__T

Kayin March 31st, 2009 10:04 AM

Those are guys. Lol. You made my day.

well of course not, because you never bothered to research asian culture.

Live in Color March 31st, 2009 2:29 PM

Go take a Karate class for a few weeks, you may have to wear one. ;) It's okay, I'm sure you'll look sexy as a woman.

Azonic March 31st, 2009 2:31 PM

Apparently if I wear a dress, I will turn into a girl. Cool.

And talking about Old Guys that look like Woman is important?

OokamiShipper March 31st, 2009 6:33 PM

Ya mean this guy?

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dptr/dptr054.png

Yeah, believe me, it's a man.

Either that, or it's this guy:

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dptr/dptr068.png

And I think looks like a man enough.

BHwolfgang March 31st, 2009 6:46 PM

I would look soooo sexy in a hakama

Yes, that is indeed a man. You can actually tell by the face. Also, yes, this is what men wear.

I assume that you do not know much of Japanese culture?

Glaceon_ March 31st, 2009 10:47 PM

There is no real discussion behind this thread and its progressed for long enough... maybe too long... though some lessons have been learned for those not following Japanese culture, etc. Please refrain from making similar threads in the future.
