I just can't get into Platinum.

So, I recently picked up Platinum, and I just can't get into it. It feels too much of a rehash of Pearl and Diamond. It's the same map, same Pokemon, same people. I really can't make to the first badge, because I feel like I'm playing Pearl again. It's just so...boring.

Dr.Garrison April 2nd, 2009 4:24 PM

Every 3rd pokemon game in the series is like that? Give it to me :3

Xatoku April 2nd, 2009 4:25 PM

Watch POMEMON episodes that what I always do when I lose motivation.

Maybe you're right. Maybe I just finally am mature enough to notice that.

BeachBoy April 2nd, 2009 4:28 PM

But it won't be boring when you get to the frontier. ;D

[/completely biased opinion coming from a BT junkie]

Well, maybe set up your own rules to follow so you can make it interesting. That's what I do sometimes if I can't find the drive to go on. Or completely reset my party by adding my favorite Pocket Monsters from other games.

Dr.Garrison April 2nd, 2009 4:29 PM

Don't lose faith in Pokemon Games at all. What I do is use Diamond as my screw around game and make Platinum for real play.

Thats what I want to do. Complete Platinum with 3 starters and others.

Adley April 2nd, 2009 4:30 PM

Well, it came from Sinnoh and Diamond n Pearl. Its not a whole new game. Jeeze

When's Frontier? I take it the end of the game.

Yep. So perhaps the drive to finish can get you through to enjoy those facilities and conquer the brains.

I'll try...thanks for the advice.

When you get to the Battle Island it will be fun. You can battle the Battlegrounds, Frontier, Rival and E4 and they actually put up a fight. think about the Rotoms!

Cynic Kaka April 2nd, 2009 5:00 PM

Wulf, I beat the game in 16 hours (along with the Battle Frontier, and I don't hack.) I'm sure you can do it too! :D

You did, after all, come in second on my Monotype in Emerald back in July

deciever11 April 2nd, 2009 5:01 PM

i cant get into it either it is very much similar, same with emerald etc try watching the TV shows and react them :)

Haven't you noticed? The part up until when you beat the first gym is always very boring. Give it time, it will end up being a very enjoyable and new experience.

I'll try, it's just very slow. I remember being able to get tot he first gym in Blue in under an hour. This just feels boringly long to get to the first gym.

Hydra_ April 2nd, 2009 5:30 PM

You just gotta get used to it again. Just think of the newer features you can do now and then you'll want to play it again.

Methuselah April 2nd, 2009 5:45 PM

There's the distortion world to look forward to as well. And Looker is at least good for a little entertainment.

This wasn't a secret. You knew exactly what you were buying. This is how every Pokemon game is. 2 versions with minor differences (exclusive Pokes), third version with tweaks in the story line and more post-game stuff along with some technical fixes (faster Surf, faster text).

Maybe you outgrew the series. Or you can give your self a challenge and run some type of gimmick/theme in-game team (search the forums for suggestions).

If you purchased this game thinking it was going to be this brand new plot and all, I don't know how you got that idea.

Now now, the Pokemon games are actually very unique every generation. Just because you fight through the league to get to the Elite 4 everytime doesn't mean they're repetitive, there are still new plot points. Besides, they make Platinum look completely unique in the advertisements.

Zackraa April 2nd, 2009 6:11 PM

this is why I didn't get pearl or diamond I knew they were going to fix the games up with a third game because this was their first venture into pokemon DS gaming so... my platinum experience is freaking awesome!!

=D

Bibliophibian April 2nd, 2009 6:18 PM

Watching the show always gets me in the mood to play the games.

Other than that, Platinum did add some neat events that made it a bit more interesting. I'm not too far into the game, but it's pretty nifty to me up to now. Then again, I didn't play Diamond or Pearl too heavily, so maybe that's why.

Methuselah April 2nd, 2009 6:25 PM

For some reason I like it more than Diamond, I couldn't get into it, but I'm enjoying Platinum.

ilovebianca69 April 2nd, 2009 6:47 PM

You'll like it later on I was extremely bored with it to untill I started noticing all the new stuff.

The Fallen April 2nd, 2009 6:59 PM

I know exactly how you feel. I really don't even want to buy it cause I know I won't play it and would rather keep the $40 dollars in my pocket. I may buy a used one later on down then line, but as of right now I don't care much for it. :\
