The VS Seeker... *tears of joy*

Is this not one of the best things to ever happen to pokemon? I know I'm hardly ever able to get on PC anymore, but I just had to take this opportunity to come here and say how much I love the VS Seeker...this thing is going to revolutionize training...finally, infinite trainer battles! We're all going to be able to raise pokemon at a much faster rate now, it's so awesome...this is just the best thing to happen to the game since the select button feature in GS imo...it's going to be such a big help when I want to raise extra pokemon after I beat the elite four, and it's especially great for me now, it makes my training of pokemon like Porygon, Lapras, etc. much quicker...some of you have to be stoked about this! I am enough to post here, so that's something! o_o;;

Simon September 14th, 2004 5:07 PM

Yes it's pretty good. My Pokemon were around level 70-80 by the time I got to the E4 for the first time. 100 the second time around.

Toothache September 14th, 2004 5:31 PM

You've only just discovered this? Man, I've raised two Pokemon to L100 already using the Trainers Eyes trainers in R/S, and working on my 3rd. If there are better trainers to use than these on FR/LG, then training is going to be so easy (as well as getting all the cash I need for Vitamins).

Shiney September 15th, 2004 10:42 AM

I've been unnable to find anything specifically about the VS seeker here or on serebii.net, if I missed something, forgive me. But EXACTLY what is the VS seeker, and where do you get it?

Chairman Kaga September 15th, 2004 11:30 AM

Well, I only now discovered it because I refused to download the roms...I didn't want to ruin FRLG for myself like I did RS =/

The VS Seeker is found in Vermilion City's Pokecenter. A girl by the counter will have it. After 100 steps to recharge its batteries you may rechallenge trainers you have defeated to another battle and their levels may have increased, meaning more exp and more money. Hope this helps :D

Just out of curiosity, how is this more efficient than pummeling the Elite Four countless times? Cause I battled them hundreds of times on RBY, and it was fairly efficient. Anyone care to explain? @[email protected];

Stouph September 15th, 2004 11:41 AM

w00t! I just got the VS Seeker! And what a gem it is!!! It's an amazing device!!! XD

I love how the trainers jump up and down to get your attention! *LOL* Wonderful!! I love it!!

Well, in a way it's like the Trainers Eyes, but only better. You can refight people a lot more times than with the TE, and all you need to do is go 100 steps to recharge it. It's better than Flying to Indigo Plateau/Ever Grande, pummeling the Elite 4, then skipping the credits. You might have beaten 5 or 6 people in the time you beat the Elite 4, and you don't have to watch/skip/turn off Game Boy for the credits. If you don't mind the credits part, then by all means go fight the Elite Four, but if you're kinda sick of them (like I am), then go and fight loads of trainers (including Gym Leaders I think... although I'm not sure) via the VS. Seeker. Hope that helps... slightly ^_^

I believe you can only use it outside.

I hope I can use it on gym leaders, I always wanted to re-battle those guys.

You can't train your up-and-coming pokemon against the elite four...this way, you battle pokemon of levels that suit the pokemon you're training instead of wandering in fields battling pidgeys for days and days...100 steps is worth quicker experience.

Desaparecidos September 15th, 2004 2:49 PM

besides the E4, what trainers should i just re-battle a million times? where will i get the most amount of Exp? thanks =D

Shion September 16th, 2004 2:34 AM

I haven't rematched anyone yet, the VS seeker must be broken... :(

Dizzy September 16th, 2004 2:42 AM

The VS. Seeker is a technological breakthrough, really it is. Without it, how could you train low level (not too low...but low enough) to match your team?

Yami86 September 16th, 2004 5:42 AM

The VS Seeker is great, it's a lot better than the Trainer's eyes in R/S and the Pokégear calls from S/G/C. Shineyelectrode, hate to break it to you, but you can only use VS Seeker against trainers outdoors or in caves. Meaning you cannot rechallenge trainers withing gyms, nor can you cannot re-challenge trainers within 'dungeons' (ie Pokémon Tower, Silph Building). You get that stupid message from Oak if you try. However, once your Pokémon hit the high levels (80+) it might be more efficient to take on the Elite 4 instead. I do, and I'm fortunate enough to own 4 Lucky eggs to make it worthwhile :)

aqonix September 16th, 2004 6:15 AM

I didn't know that vs seeker was unlimited thank you guys this should make it easier to charge
darn I already started over LG NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...
I started it over because I train wrong and had no way to train :(

^^NICK^^ v.3.0 September 16th, 2004 7:14 AM

I don't have it yet. I got my game last Saturday, and I just arrived in Pewter. I'm not obsessed with it, let's just say that. But this Vs. thing sounds interesting.

Yeah, but if you’re not EV training you could switch in and out.
But I DO see the significance now—it always was frustrating to raise up newly hatched Pokémon once they got too strong for wild ones to be effective, but not strong enough for the E4. Thanks. ^^;

VanirElf September 16th, 2004 12:12 PM

...I don't have trouble raising pokemon to high levels
and I don't use that thing, but I always EV train first then level up
battles are so easy after you EV train.

but I guess the VS seeker is a good idea

Chairman Kaga September 16th, 2004 5:16 PM

I'm a casual player, I have no reason to EV train, so I guess it's just convenient in my case XP

*is currently overdoing the leveling-up on Cycling Road with Charizard, Primeape, Porygon, and Marowak*

Marill909 September 16th, 2004 5:25 PM

The VS Seeker is my HERO! I dont care about the rematches. I just enjoy watching th characters jump up and down. Its pretty halarious.

Zoda_X September 16th, 2004 5:34 PM

Yeah,The Vs seeker comes in handy especially in Evs I can battle someone who has like 3 Hypnos to get some good Sp defense I love it!

Star Crossed Dreamer September 16th, 2004 8:44 PM

I agree

I have to say I agree. I think it's better than the one in r/s where you have to go all the way back to the route that person is on. With VS Seeker, the person is right there.

Mundane September 16th, 2004 9:09 PM

Im not positive on this, but facing the elite four countless times in Fr/Lg may be a challenge. To my dismay, and perhaps many others, they become alot more dangerous the second time around. The ice elite four member ( first one, dont know her name) alone has above level 70 pokemon. Not to mention getting better pokemon to boot. Im afraid at the moment to attack them with a level 64 Lapras the highest pokemon i have. Sides Mewtwo..but i have yet to capture him. Anyone care to see if this is true? Because I did read it on gamefaqs and didnt double check their information.
