Does post count matter to you?
Well, the thread title says it all. For me, post count does matter. If I reach 5000 posts, I get a blog on PokeCommunity.
|
Post count is near meaningless to me. The only thing I judge by post count is activeness. Personally I dont see how post count can matter to anyone, it's just a stupid useless statistic.
However, it is fine to have a goal as far as post count goes if you're aiming for something like a blog but meh. It doesn't matter otherwise. I've always felt quality > quantity. |
In some ways it does; I generally check people's post counts if I'm trading with them. But my own post count doesn't really matter to me, it's just a number.
|
Not at all. It's just there, in my opinion, and doesn't actually mean anything.
|
I think it'd be useful to show off with :P
Really, though, I really want to get 5000 posts to get a blog. Blogs on forums get more visitors. |
Does to me, I don't go out of my way to keep track of everyone's names so it's helpful in differentiating the experienced and regular members from others.
|
Yeah, I too want to get a blog. It matters when in forums because you ca easily see who the regulars are but some wise members have low post count so it depends.
|
No, it doesn't matter to me. =/
Although, it's nice to reach a certain number of posts. XD It's a way to judge activity, but on the other hand, there are those members that frequent the Other Trivia and Member Fanclubs. Posts made there don't count...so basing activity on post count is useless there. |
Nope! I see it as just another number. :)
|
I consider upping my post count like a game.
So I guess it kinda does. |
I don't - I am a believer that post count does not really mean anything, especially on whether the user is a 'good' one or not. Not an indicator of any sort at all on that. Although it might be nice to have a blog, I could just get an LJ or something like that if I really wanted one, and 5000 is far enough away that I don't realistically see myself getting there anyways, leastways in any sort of near future. XD

Post counts are just numbers to me, and can be very misleading. If anything, members with ridiculously high post counts who've achieved their numbers in a short space of time make me more wary. As Pachy said, quality over quantity. Also, in my experience it tends to be the younger members who take more notice of their/other peoples post counts than the older members. Not always the case but it seems like that's how it's worked on most forums i've been on. |
Ah, the topic that determines the spammers from the normal crowd...
Not here, I don't. I'm looking forward to my 4,000th post on GSR (Charon the Ferryman), which is only a few posts away now, but I'm not going to spam for it (I'm actually approaching 6,000 if you count the Forum Games). And 5,000 posts for a blog? Bah. I don't need a blog, people don't want to hear about my pitifully boring life, so why would I need one? I don't update any of those journal things. Guess it's better for me anyhow. Besides that, I don't see the purpose in posting 2,000 posts as quickly as possible simply to gain something. Sure, I am addicted to posting, but more for the reason that I like to talk rather than get a big shiny number near my gender and my (false) location. Also, post count simply is a way of determining how much people have spoken, not a way to determine reliability, intellegence or experience. Not even reputation can do that... |
I don't care that much.. I just want to get over a 100 so I don't look like that "new guy". More posts generally to me means that those people spend more time here and know what their doing.
|
No, not really. All that mattered to me was 1k and 10k. 50k will matter too later on down the road :D
Otherwise, I don't even know what my postcount is now! |
Not really, at least not anymore XD Back when I first joined, I'd always be excited when I reached another interval of 100, but after reaching 1k or so it got kind of old. Now it's just kind of something that's there... and that's it XD
|
I use it to determine whether or not people are helpful to the community. If you joined a month ago and have like more posts then me, then you can just leave seeing how you're just post racking.
|
Obviously not, or I would have more than this. XD
|
Nope, not at all. I'm not one to post much myself, and I try to ask myself before I post, "Is there a point in my saying/typing this?" and if the answer is yes, then I'll post.
Quality > Quantity for sure. Also, I've already long since reached the only post-count related goals I care about, and they're the 15-post ability to post links/images and the 100-post ability to claim in the bishie thread. Like Jupiter said, I'm not a journal-keeping type, so going out of my way to get 5000 posts just to write about my uninteresting life that I already write about occasionally on dA is kinda silly. Also, the post count you see is the highest I've ever had for any account here or on the only other forum I went on. |
True Quantity<Quality, but sometimes, a considerable amount of posts over a long period of time makes you look wise. And I don't just post to rack up some numbers. I do think about what I post. unless it's in a poll
|
I wanna get to 1000. But no, not really. But obviously the higher posters will be more experienced around here.
|
Nope. Never has, never will. It's a couple of digits. It doesn't tell me anything about someone's personality, someone's posting style, ect. Why should post count matter to me? I've been frequenting forums for nearly two years now and that question still hasn't been answered.

Not really.
I like it when I reach like..A new hundred..or 1000, but I don't like..Worship myself for it. |
Of course a post count matters to me. Just, not as much as my reputation matters. And even more than that is being with all of you here! ^_^
