Buy Pearl or wait for Platinum?

Well The question is stated in the topic name.

I'm buying a DS today and was gonna buy pearl for it, currently I havent found a single shop in denmark that sells platinum. So should i wait for platinum or buy pearl so i can play with my friend who bought diamond yesterday?

factorx April 29th, 2009 3:15 AM

wait for platinum then. there is no point getting the older one when the newer one is out.

Why those threads keep comin'...
Platinum, why not?

Tesshin April 29th, 2009 4:17 AM

I'd like to addsomething to my post:

is it worth buying ds to get the new games? I already have GBA and havent tried any of the games for that + i have shinygold on pc.

Also how big is the world in pearl compared to platinum? And how big is platinum compared to Crystal?

-Leaf April 29th, 2009 4:22 AM

yes. i got my DS mainly for platinum.

Tesshin April 29th, 2009 4:27 AM

Also is there any advantage in getting both pearl and platinum? I'm not limited to only one, but if there is really no advantage in getting both then i'm gonna wait and buy a ds once platinum hits the stores here.

Only that you can get some of the legendaries twice, and one or two Pokémon can only be caught in Pearl...
Other than that, there's not really much point. Also, you can just order the American version on the internet; it's exactly the same as the European versions, except it's already out. It will take a while to deliver, though.

Get Platinum. It doesn't really matter either way, but Platinum has better features and it also has the battle frontier, it gives you more to work with =)

giradialkia April 29th, 2009 8:15 AM

Platinum. It has everything Pearl has, and more, save for a few Pokemon that you probably wouldn't want anyways. Personally, i could deal without having a Misdreavus (which is in Pearl, but not Platinum, so i hear).

Always...ALWAYS buy the third version.

Its the "duh" of pokemon fan law.

Spinosaurus April 29th, 2009 8:39 AM

I suggest pearl then platinum.Since it has no very much diffrence.

Åzurε April 29th, 2009 10:03 AM

Platinum is much more polished and detailed than Pearl and Diamond. Less lag moving from area to area, better 3d objects, a Villa, level 100 Magikarp, the Frontier, all 3 time/space legendaries, origin gira and skymin, to name a few improvements...

Avatar April 29th, 2009 10:51 AM

It doesn't come out in Europe until the 22nd of May. If you can't wait then you can import the American version.
I can personally recommend getting it from PlayAsia.com, I import most of my DS games from them and they have a very reliable service.

If you don't have Diamond/Pearl, then get Platinum. If you do, then don't get it.

.inLOVE April 29th, 2009 11:24 AM

You could always simply buy both, or go to an online store such as eBay and buy Platinum.

There's absolutely no need to, unless your a big Pokemon fan. And if you were one, you'd already have D/P.

Just wait for Platinum. It has everything Diamond and Pearl has and a lot more. Even the in-game story changes, such as some new plot, and FASTER SURF SPEED, makes it well worth the $$. Even if you don't care about the Battle Frontier.

Your question's been answered 15 fold but in the future, please use the Q&A thread.
