Arrgh! I don't know what I'm getting. I haven't played Gen. II games, before, so these games are a definite for me if I can get a DS (along with getting Platinum). HeartGold is appealing because it has Ho-oh, based on my favorite legendary creature, the Phoenix. Also, gold is an imposing, radiant, shining color IMO. :D
But I'm more familar with Lugia (mainly due to hearing its name more often as well as its role in Pokemon: The Movie 2000 - The Power of One. Lugia's entry of rising from the water and the Aeroblast depiction in the moviewere simply EPIC). Furthermore, silver is a nice relaxing color. Plus, it rolls off the tongue nicely in "SoulSilver" :)
So, this is gonna take a while to decide... Anyway, I'm just glad we're at least getting the games! That really helped make my day yesterday! :cer_boogie:

heart gold cuz gold wuz da first pkmn game i played on da second generation

seeker May 8th, 2009 9:40 AM

SO getting Heart Gold! Gold was my1st 2G game and i still have the guide book for it! So i'm sonna see exactly how different it is! Ahh the good old days! Can't wait for the release!

I Wonder if people will be wanting a R/S/E Remake in a couple years? xD

"Shadow Lugia" May 8th, 2009 9:42 AM

I'll probably hve both eventually.

I'll certainly get SoulSilver first, though. Silver is one of, if not my favorite Pokemon game. Lugia is awesome, whereas I never really liked the look of Ho-oh.

Mezase Master May 8th, 2009 9:42 AM

Who the heck would want a R/S/E remake?

Gamewhale May 8th, 2009 9:42 AM

I'll (probably) be getting both.

EagleVision1999 May 8th, 2009 9:47 AM

I'm going to import an englisch version of Soul Silver, since silver is the GenII game I played most.
But maybe I also buy Heart Gold when it comes out in german (Although I think the german title will sound weird... "Herz Gold", oh my)

Razer302 May 8th, 2009 9:48 AM

I will get both at some point but first I want Heart Gold. Have to say I think the new names are terrible.

I would like a R/S/E remake. They are my favourites.

Ivysaur May 8th, 2009 9:57 AM

I'll probably get Silver, since I originally got Gold XD

Dunno, just for the sake of it.

NytewolfAU2k7 May 8th, 2009 11:10 AM

I voted neither, because I think I'll wait till more information is actually known about them, no point getting all excited then finding out only the graphics are different ;)

La Foudre May 8th, 2009 11:36 AM

Seeing as Gold was my first and favorite Pokemon game, HeartGold definitely.

BeachBoy May 8th, 2009 11:57 AM

I originally got Gold, so Heart Gold for me.

IF I'm unable to get both. XD

The exact opposite for me, haha.

Same here, except I know I'm not getting Silver. My brother never got a chance to play the Johto Games, so I'm gonna let him get Silver. Gold takes up most of my childhood memories anyway.

mikey May 8th, 2009 12:45 PM

I'm going to get SoulSilver =]

Kerotan May 8th, 2009 12:54 PM

SoulSilver FTW.
I'm so excited that Nintendo's Pokemon department is starting to fulfill our needs.
TT_TT
What about crystal? MindCrystal? IntestineCrystal? (Lawl)
But really, I'll probably buy the Silver remake, AND the Crystal remake. (If there is one)

The Wave May 8th, 2009 12:54 PM

Heart Gold all the way. I always bought the "Red" versions of the Pokemon games, and I feel Gold more to the "Red" side than Silver.

solaris knight May 8th, 2009 1:27 PM

Gold was my very first game (not just pokémon-I mean like ever), though I may get Soul Silver this time around (Lugia is one of my favourite pokémon). May get both games, re-complete the dex in HeartGold since 1)I'm still missing, like, 5 in my regular Gold XD and 2) Its become a tradition :).

iTzKaizer May 8th, 2009 1:37 PM

Rahhhhhh!!!!!! Yeah! Finally 2 remakes Wooooo!!!!!!! I'm so excited I can't wait till the games are done. People this is going to be GREAT! I'd get Heart Gold. Yay!

Yamikarasu May 8th, 2009 1:42 PM

I am really happy right now. Today is a good day. :3

I will definitely more than likely get both eventually, but I'll probably get Soul Silver first since I got Silver first on the Game Boy.

If these games aren't ten times better than Platinum, I will be a very sad little boy.

Even if only the graphics are different, Gold/Silver are great games.

I'd get SoulSilver. Based on how expensive D/P was, I'd only be able to get one, and I prefer Lugia over Ho-oh. Man, I can't wait for them to come out! It'll be way easier to get Lugia/Ho-oh in G4. Seriously, before you needed GC, GBA, Coloseum/XD, GC-GBA Link Cable, and a GBA Pokemon game. Now all you'll need is SoulSilver/HeartGold. (P.S. I wonder when they'll start to be abbreviated, you know like FR/LG, HG/SS.)

True Reign May 8th, 2009 2:05 PM

Silver was probably the best Pokemon game so far and it was my second Pokemon game I have ever gotten.

I still miss my poor Chikorita. XD

fireyboy345 May 8th, 2009 2:09 PM

prolly gonna get silver cuz its one of my favorites. Hopefully you will be able to catch both main legendaries and the legendary dogs wont be hard to find.

madskil72 May 8th, 2009 5:29 PM

I'm getting Soul Silver, because

1. I preferred Silver to Gold anyway, because of the sprites, pokemon, etc..
2. Silver was the first one that I got
3. I <3 Lugia =))

Penumbra May 8th, 2009 5:53 PM

Both ftw. I always loved Silver. Silver is just.. so. Silver.
Gold is so overrated. In terms of mascots, Silver.
Colour, Silver. Pokemon, Silver. First game, Silver.
Silver silver silver! My preferred trainer name is also,
well whaddya know! SILVER! (and my rival is gold).

But I'm getting both so I can:

1) Have two files to play between
so I can't really get bored of my team

2) Fill up my Dex faster, if I win that
Eggo contest for another DS T_T'

3) I wanna get the legendaries x2.

4) Silver will be my main, Gold will be
for Wi-Fi. EVs, Eggs, all that pointless
stuff.

5) My two fave starters: Chikorita and Totodile..
or was it Cyndaquil and Chikorita? Or Totodile and
Cyndaquil!?!?!?!

6) For plenty of other reasons I can't think of.
Oh, this is also my first time to get both versions
and play them simultaneously!

Also, I think the translated names will be different.
Heart Gold, no one will really understand. Soul Silver as well.
The Ho-Oh wings are shaped as a heart, so it might be restrained,
and people won't know why the hell Lugia looks like a dinosaur.
I still don't, either.. It should be Sunshine Gold and Moonlight Silver
or something. Makes sense, too, so I wouldn't be basing your
choices off the name..
