Latest News About Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver

Hey everyone, its billi1000 and I made this thread to make it easier for everyone to share the latest information known about these 2 games. Since they have just been confirmed and we barely know anything about it except the information from Pokemon Sunday, then it'll be nice to know all there is to know. As well, be free to share oppinions about the game and if there's something on your mind just ask.Thanks.

I'll be presenting all the information known below:

"We learned on the 7th that "Pocket Monsters Gold and Silver," the second entry in the popular RPG series, originally released on the Gameboy system in November of 1999, will be remade for the Nintendo DS this autumn under the titles "HeartGold" and "SoulSilver." New elements will be added in this tenth anniversary return to the Johto Region.

A continuation of the original series (Pocket Monsters Red, Green, Blue, and Pikachu), Gold and Silver recorded remarkable sales of 23,000,000 copies worldwide. It introduced monsters that hadn't appeared in the gameboy games, along with various new features.

Red and Green, the first games of the Pokemon series, were remade for the Gameboy Advance in 2004 as "Fire Red and Leaf Green," making this the second set of remakes. While Red and Green had fantastic upgrades in their transition from Gameboy to Gameboy Advance, this time the games are skipping the Gameboy Advance and going directly from Gameboy to DS. So they will almost certainly have drastically upgraded graphics and sound. Details will be released on the official site shortly.

Currently in development for the Nintendo DS are the newest entries in the Pokemon series: "Pocket Monsters HeartGold and SoulSilver." Taking place in the Johto region, the games will be upgraded with all of the series' current features and will also be packed with brand new features. This year marks the tenth anniversary of "Pocket Monsters Gold and Silver's" release on the original Gameboy, so its revival is only fitting. Since its release in 1999, the game has sold over 23,000,000 copies worldwide."

On Pokemon Sunday, not much more than we know was revealed about the game highlighting a video of Gold and Silver in New Bark Town with Chikorita following the hero. New art of the Johto starters has also been revealed in the show and the photos are available below. Pictures from the aired video are also shown below, thanks to serebii.net.

P.S. Anybody see a staircase to the right of the lab, if you see anything more eyecatching, then by all means yell it out here.
Edit: The video of Pokemon Sunday that aired on May 10 is now available below.

THIS JUST IN:

The following quote is from serebii.net holding the latest information:

"The first details from CoroCoro have been revealed from japanese imageboards. As expected, not many details were given due to the nclearness of the scans. We hope to get clearer scans soon. However, it did show that a new female trainer is to be utilised in this game and not the female one introduced in Crystal. There are more pics showing the Starter following you in places including Violet City & Azalea Town.

The game also features the area cutscenes introduced in FireRed & LeafGreen that show the area you just entered. CoroCoro uses Sprout Tower for an example, but it is likely all areas will utilise it. The scan also says that the female trainer (or male if you selected female) will serve a Support Role in the game similar to how Dawn & Lucas are in Diamond, Pearl & Platinum.

t also appears there is an event in the game that utilises the Pikachu Coloured Pichu, that you obtain by pre-ordering your ticket from the 12th movie, within the game at Ilex Forest, featuring the Notched Ear Pichu as well. We'll bring more as it comes so be sure to come back."

Well I guess a news thread would be useful so uh yay? Anyway yeah a staircase. So thats new as well as a possible underground.

billi1000 May 9th, 2009 11:03 PM

it looks like they're trying to get back the days of pokemon yellow with the starter following everywhere, or is it until its evolution, anyway more information is coming on the way next week in CoroCoro for those waiting for something significant.

billi1000 May 9th, 2009 11:14 PM

i did this thread so people can get updated by others as well, i m not saying not for discussion, but its mainly a place where anybody can get updated directly instead of going into every single thread, thats all, anyway the info is very little about the game so its plausible to have them under one thread as news.
Edit: Yo Hiroshi , i just got an idea, when looking at ur thread about the reveal in pokemon sunday, i thought, how about i rlink to the thread about the piece of news after stating it, this way everyone can discuss it in its own thread, btw i saw ur thread and i got what u meant , it not as little as it seems, k tc

Inferno1 May 10th, 2009 12:20 AM

Are the Starters going to follow u the whole game cause i would love to see a feraligatr follow you around lol i think that they willl follow u around for the first little bit of the game where you have to go to that guy and get that thing (lol bad memory)

Uh, isn't that staircase leading up to the upper storey of the Lab?
The starter following is probably to show to the Rival or something. Well, you walk out of town with it, and your Rival sees it, so he knows ''a wimp like you got a Pokemon''. Maybe. And yes, Silver could be looking in a side window there (to actually see you pick your starter), but in original GSC, we know Silver broke through a back window.
God, serebii is slow to update..

Maybe Silver steals the Pokémon that's following you around. :P XD

I don't like how they put the style looking D/P, it is all big and bulky. In my opinion, R/S/E were the best Pokemon games I have ever played before. I will never find any other Pokemon game better than R/S/E.

Cheesymitten May 10th, 2009 12:58 AM

I actually missed that staircase when i saw the video was it there in Gold and Silver?

That's probably because he's asleep maybe?

billi1000 May 10th, 2009 1:03 AM

But when D/P came out, I hate it when everything look all big and bulky in the areas, it makes the game look so bad. Now they are making HG/SS look like this? When they were developing D/P, they should of made the areas and people look similar to R/S/E and FR/LG, but with better graphics. Besides, the Johto region was okay, but Hoenn region is the best region that Gamefreak ever made in my opinion. The Hoenn region had the ability to dive, go into secret bases and big secret event islands to explore in another region. Did D/P/Pt did that? No. The Hoenn region just look so creative and beautiful. So I may not want to get the new Pokemon games anymore. I don't know why people like Johto so much and claim it the best region, the region gets boring so fast and repetitive. When Ruby & Sapphire came out, I really enjoyed the new improvement. So I let my G/S/C games sit on my dresser collecting dust.

billi1000 May 10th, 2009 1:56 AM

hey man u dont know, maybe many things changed since the last couple of games, u no, like the appearance of the staircase, maybe there are new areas in the game like a region other than johto or kanto, if they add hoenn to the game, i bet u u'll be the 1st one to get the game man, still dont get the problem about things being big and bulky, it seems more real that way ...

New Bark Town does look nicer but it is different form the oringnal

thelaytonmobile May 10th, 2009 2:35 AM

Oh! Maybe the staircase is how Silver gets in?
And what do people think of the music? Personally, I don't think it's that great. Sounds too much like D/P. However, I do like the D/P look.

Floris2Burn May 10th, 2009 2:36 AM

I think the underground will be back caus those blue things next to the stairs are those ventilation things used in d/p, not?

and it's been to long ago since i played gold so i don't remember the story quite well (the stealing your pkmn thing etc)

But I think these games will look a lot like d/p/pt, except with a few new features they always come up with. I hope it won't take awfully long for the games to get to europe :s (g/s took about 1,5-2 years)

No i think the blue things are just a fence nothing more and usually if the game comes out in japan this fall, it goes out for uk and us next spring, so its almost 1 year from now.

I defenitely agree, much more detail, a staircase apearing on the lab building, and definitely new features.

Wait you actually thought this wouldn't take form in the bobble head and bulky look of DPPt? Kind of illogical. And some might think differently. Like for me as an example I prefer the new look of Pokemon. RSE and FRLG were a bit too I dunno flat looking and bland. But that is just me. The depth the pseudo 3D gives to the games is something I find interesting and creative. So yeah I welcome this like any Pokemon game(except the gba era) with open arms.

Well, I saw a staircase beside the Pokemon Lab. too. It would be cool if your starter Pokemon will follow you around like in Pokemon Yellow.

Its actually mor or less the same. They just want it to look more filled with the grass around the houses and more fixed road things to the house so it won't look like a desolate dump.

JP May 10th, 2009 5:18 AM

I think there's a good chance your Pokemon follows you around throughout the game, otherwise there really would have been no reason to show us this feature...

Exactly. They show us it right off the bat people expect it to be in permanently.

Of course it's a desolate dump. It's a 'town' with four houses in the middle of nowhere, cut off with 'evil grass' from the west, and a waterfall blocking any tourists from the east...

It looks similar enough to me. It's recognise it as New Bark Town a mile off. It also looks beautiful in 3D, realistic and have you taken a good look at the player's house, you could actually LIVE there! (save for the fact it has two rooms, presumably!)

Im really excited to hear about them remaking Gold and Silver, I remember when it was getting close to release, i got a yaer subscription to Nintendo Power just to get the collectible pin set lol. I've just about all of the regular pokemon games (exception being to Crystal) And honestly I don't mind the bulky style of DPPt, i definitely prefer it to the look and feel of the RSE games. My main wonder about GS remakes would be if they let you go back to Kanto and get 16 badges instead of 8 like they did in the originals. The challenge would be nice.
