What do you think is above Elm's lab?

I saw that by the right side of Elm's lab there is a set of stairs going up, and it got me thinking, what do you guy's think is up there?

seeker May 10th, 2009 1:52 PM

3G starters xD
could be!! Or a bedroom

PokemonMichael May 10th, 2009 1:52 PM

His bedroom? His house? I dont kow. But it suggests a deeper plot already. :D

spike6958 May 10th, 2009 1:57 PM

I was thinking his house too, which could mean that if your playing as Gold, Crystal could live in what was Elm's house in GSC, and if you play as Crystal, Gold would live there... that's my theory anyway.

AJ™ May 10th, 2009 2:00 PM

I think it will just be a cluttered attic type area where you can eventually go up to once you complete a certain part of the game. Maybe after you get the national dex, you can go up there and pick out a 3rd Gen starter?

Just note that I am simply rambling on.

BHwolfgang May 10th, 2009 2:02 PM

It could also be another part of his lab?

Or, maybe you can't acess it until you beat the Elite 4? It could be where the Master Ball is?!

That does make some sense although it would be better if they left the giving of a second starter to Oak, maybe when (or if) you get to Kanto Oak would give you a 1st Gen starter after getting to Pallet Town.

Blazers May 10th, 2009 2:05 PM

Yeah it's probably nothing.
Just his bedroom.

Retro Bug May 10th, 2009 2:09 PM

Eh, I doubt it's anything.
The staircase is probably just for show, to make the Pokélab look better, more like a lab.

Just his bedroom.

You have to remember that he haves a wife and a son in a house near the lab. I think he goes there to sleep.

Maybe you can actually see an improved script at the beggining, my idea is that when you leave New Bark the camera focus Silver and he enters the lab by the 2nd floor and then he sneaks in the lab and steal a Pokémon. It would be nice to see.

Tyrantrum May 10th, 2009 2:26 PM

Um...maybe extra PokéBall storage, and some may contain Pokémon that you can play with, but cannot keep. :P

"Shadow Lugia" May 10th, 2009 2:27 PM

Maybe it's a secret room where he keeps the Master Ball, in a similar way to XD.

Jαcκςση May 10th, 2009 2:31 PM

Maybe it's not elms lab? Maybe that's someone else's house (gold or crystal maybe depending on if you are a boy or girl) and they moved his lab to another part of town we can't see in the screenshot?

Good one!
We already have got Dawn as Prof. Rowan's assist, maybe Kenta/Crystal can be Elm's, so that way we have another rival :D

I doubt it, since Silver is standing outside in the excact same spot as he was in G/S/C.

That's actually a really good point. I didn't think of that.

Poliwagged May 10th, 2009 3:07 PM

The bedroom is possible, since in the originals, his family is like "He's so hard at work he hardly ever comes home!".

doesn't that contradict your point? You're saying his bedroom (as in, a part of his home)
is atop his lab, yet his wife says he rarely comes home? Doesn't that imply that
his home is not in the lab?

Anyway, seeing as there's new features and technology and all, I bet it'll involve
and explanation (and a cutscene) as to how Silver got into the Lab. It's
probably a second floor or something, and he sneaked his way downstairs and got
the pokemon.

Nina May 10th, 2009 3:29 PM

Huh. It reminds me of Pokemon Special. There weren't stairs but Gold catches him coming out the second floor.

Putting Anime and Manga aside it's most likely a storage room or another level of the laboratory. I understand some people live in the top of their businesses, but that doesn't seem like something a professional scientist would do. (Like I said, put Oak's lab in the anime aside. It's more like a farm really.)

Lynx1 May 10th, 2009 3:46 PM

Mew and Pikablu. And Bill's Garden.

No, what I'm saying is, he's at work so much that he built a bedroom inside his lab, therefore rarely goes to his actual home, where his actual bedroom probably is.

shadow rayquaza May 10th, 2009 3:55 PM

Stairway to Arceus DUH!
but in seriousness its probably just for show.

Zelda May 10th, 2009 4:17 PM

Maybe you can't even go up the stairs.

If you can then I really don't know. Maybe his research room or something?

CollinP May 10th, 2009 4:34 PM

in another thread i joked around saying "IT ALREADY HAS A WAY DEEPER PLOT!"
but in seriousness i hope it is a plot device- even a minor one (but i'm usually wrong, so odds are it's nothing).......
ya know what? i don't even think the creators of the game know what it is yet- i think they are reading these posts and taking our ideas

.com May 10th, 2009 5:17 PM

I think it was already said earlier, but it couldn't be Elm's "house", because he already has a house in town, south of yours. I think it's just a small room, with boxes or something, or something simple, that has a small story behind it. I'm not going to try to make that much assumptions yet. I'll just wait till the Jap rom is released/something else is revealed(if before the jap release/rom).
