Noob-The almost official word of the english language.
Spot 3 things right with this. I dare you.
http://tech.uk.msn.com/news/article.aspx?cp-documentid=16646244 Seriously what the hell. We fell so low that the 1 millionth word will be noob? I just can't get that can you guys? |
ZOMG! XD
I'm sorry but I fell off my chair and almost broke the School computer with this. This is HILARIOUS. Regardless of my pickieness for grammar, It would sure be a milestone to make noob the millionth word. A good transition to the new century. However, I'm gonna crap brixcks if it's spelled with zeros o_o |
*Hangs head in shame*
So this is what our society has come to? XD |
Ah the good old Noob word :D
And the millionth as well hmmm well i hope that not to many peole use it, it's really annoying >=( |
Well well, talk about ultimate destiny... and greenwash sounds like a fun word.

Damn.
Noob? Seriously...? I mean the millionth word should be something a little more.... uh, refined? Shouldn't words be a little more refined? Ahh, well. Where did the word noob come from anyway? |
Brilliant! Simply Brilliant! :D
I can't wait untill this actually happens! |
Disappointing. Makes me wonder how the next generation would adapt.
Every kid knowing the word "noob" would be... O_o |
Ugh. It's funny but sad at the same time.
I cannot believe how Internet language can be allowed to seep into mainstream vocabulary. LOLZ |
This is really just another sign of the decline of the human race.
...I was under the belief that "noob" had already been added to the English language at some point, though. Oh, well. Quote:

Oh? This is interesting. I always thought it was an official word already, considering that so many people, online or in real life, use it.
I would lol if they spell it with two zeros. XD n00b |
Noob? I thought it came from another language? And making it the 1 millionth word? Seriously...
|
Looks like nOObs have after all made their mark, i don't think they'd be even knowing this - even if they come to find out, i hope they don't get to partying where all sort's of nOObs will hang out asking random questions irrelevant to the party, now how nOObish can that get..? O.o
|
It dosn't matter to me whether a word is official or not; I don't need a dictionary to tell me what words I can and can't use. I'm still not going to say n00b IRL because it would make me look foolish.
|
I think its funny xD I actually use noob a lot. and sometimes boon.
oh wow...one millon english words..there is a lot vocabulary that I have to learn Dx |
I don't like this. But it could be worse. At least they didn't go with n00b with the zeros. At least all of it is letters
|
This almost made me pee myself.
I can't believe society has gotten THIS low. |
How can a word spelled with two NUMBERS be considered as dictionary worthy?
Ludicrous. |

Seriously?
This is fail. Just because people go prancing about, calling everyone a "noob" at every whim? Again, fail. Something sensible, and preferably intellectual would be nice as a new word. Not some internet chat-speak. |
Okay. I knew the English language was crazy, but sheesh!! xDD N00b? Seriously? The one millonth English word could be n00b? They must have run out of words to choose from....
|
I hope the millionth word turns out to be "defriend" XD Like on Facebook, when you defriend someone. of course no one does that because they want as many friends as possible lol
|
Is it only me who fails to see what the fuss is about? So the English language is adopting a term from the Internet? Big deal. The English language is always evolving to culture - what sort of stuff would we be saying if English had never evolved? We'd be stuck in the linguistic world of Shakespeare and Samuel Johnson at best, and the 5th century Anglo-Saxons at worst. The English language has had many loanwords from different languages and cultures, so it's not surprising that the language is adapting to borrow words from the media. It's not like it hasn't happened before - the Oxford English Dictionary lists "d'oh!" as a word, if I remember correctly, due to its prevalent usage after coming to prominence in The Simpsons. As far as "noob" apparently becoming the millionth word in the English language is concerned, it's highly unlikely that it will be the millionth exactly - there are a whole host of other words, and not just ones that are technology- or media-related.
|
Ugh, I bloody well hope not. That word is so annoying.
|
I hope it's not made a real word. Sure, it's not a HUGE deal...
But there's this kid in my school who goes around calling people "noobs". EXTREMELY ANNOYING. With this he'd have the excuse that it's a real word. Since it's a real word and then not an e-slang, people could use it on essays, and... Oh gosh, I can't see this being "good" in any way. |
