A HUGE HG/SS QUESTION

Ok guys,

I'm as syched as you are about the G/S remakes, but Ineed one question answered.

I REALLY, REALLY want to conquer Johto with My Current Hoenn team, Mightyena, Gardevoir and Blaziken. That'll be the only reason I'l buy the game.

So,, will I need a DSi to trade with or can I transfer via the GBA Gmaes?

An answer will be greatly appreciated.

Mitchman May 11th, 2009 11:50 AM

How the hell do we know it just got announced.

Artemis May 11th, 2009 11:58 AM

That's is really hard to answer as the game has recently been revealed, and not much is known. Sorry, but we'll just have to wait and see is it'll be possible or not.

WisherWisherWish May 11th, 2009 12:07 PM

I GOT IT!
The Time Machine!
You transfer Pokemon from the GBA games via the Time Machine!

bamak93 May 11th, 2009 12:09 PM

uhh

probably not.

It'll be similar to the Network machine deal with FR/LG.

Find the Diamond/Pearl--->Trade long distance! (Sinnoh+Pal Park)

Pal Park / Time Machine Thread

I just thought about it. like D/P/Pt, Dont you think that there should be a Pal Park in HG/SS? just in order to get Unobtainable Pokemon ? ( Ex : Hoenn Starters and Legendaries )

Edit by Lightning: Just fyi people, there were two threads merged into one here so if you see double posts, it probably just means they posted in both threads. You likely don't have to report them if they're double posts on pages 1-3.

SPEEDIE May 13th, 2009 10:53 PM

it doesn't really need one because there's one in D/P/Pt
but it would help the people who don't have D/P/Pt
so i don't know and where would they put it

"Shadow Lugia" May 13th, 2009 10:53 PM

I'm not sure if Gamefreak would do that, since the newest DS doesn't have the GBA port. They probably wouldn't want to have a feature that could only be used in the older version.

This.

Also doesn't the DSi have a dual slot feature for NDS games? If it does then you could probably pal park you're D/P/Pt pokemon.

Chaostorm May 13th, 2009 10:59 PM

but I think they will do it for the old DS and DS Lite since both of them have a GBA port. I dont think that they will not do it just because of DSi ...

DSi Disables the dual slot feature , which means the Pal Park will not work in DSi , D/P/Pt pokemon are Obtainable Via Trading HG/SS with D/P/Pt( Im sure that it will work ) not Via Migrating -.-

The DSi is the newest one though, which means that's the one Nintendo wants people to buy. You never see ads for the Lite anymore, just for the DSi.

And what would that mean for people who only have a DSi?

It's interesting to see whether they will do it or not - IMO it's up in the air - could go either way.

There's the fact that there is the DSi, but on the flip side, a large number of people either have a DS, DSLite, or one of these AND a DSi. Pal Park would still be useful to many (considering the multi-million sales D/P/Pt got, at any rate). Didn't stop Platinum from getting Pal Park in it too, despite it being released in places which will get/got it after they got the DSi.

They're promoting the DSi all right, yet in ads for games they do mention the DS line (not the DSi itself) as being a console the game can be played on (leastways here it is the case). The DSi also isn't its own console in its own right, but merely an upgrade of the DS Lite - like what the Lite is to the normal DS, or the GBA SP was to GBA. Both still play basically the same games as each other (bar a Guitar Hero game, but that game is the exception to this, rather than the norm).

If they did put the Pal Park in, one would wonder where it would be though - it's not exactly the smallest place, and they'd have to put it somewhere. (Heh - if anyone remembers the guy in Kanto using a Machop to flatten the land to build something... maybe he ends up building that, finally?). One other idea that comes to mind is that Bill makes it. It does kinda fit in - in GSC, he made the Trade machine that allowed you to trade to past games in RBY. But that wouldn't be in it now - unless Bill now makes Pal Park or something like that so one can trade Pokemon from the 3rd gen games.

Considering that in Platinum, Bebe mentions Bill, and then someone who lives in Johto and had Eevee and gave them to you (which, surprise surprise, was Bill in GSC)...I wouldn't be too surprised to see him do something involving Pal Park then, or at least be in Johto. But of course this is going off random 'hints' and spur-of-the-moment speculation - first, we'll see if Pal Park is in or not. =)

As for people with only a DSi...well, Pal Park wouldn't exactly affect them, would they? They'd just be unable to use it either way, but it would benefit those with a DS/DS Lite.

balkj06 May 13th, 2009 11:27 PM

they wanted to cut off the 3rd Gen form the 4th Gen but they also wanted gamers to put there 3rd gen pokemon in the 4th gen the only way they could do that was by Pal Park, and because everybody I thick has there 3rd gen pokes on a 4th gen game there will be no Pal park

Cubed May 13th, 2009 11:49 PM

Either you can "Catch em all" On HG/SS, or you will just have to trade from D/P/Pt.

Wonderin 'bout the "Time Machine"

I'm wondering if there's gonna be a time machine like in the originals. I don't know what they would be used for though. What are your thoughts?

bobandbill May 13th, 2009 11:55 PM

The 'Time Machine' in GSC's equivalent in 4th gen games (D/P/Pt) is Pal Park, which may or may not get into HG/SS. Nobody knows if it will, but if so, it stands a chance of being worked on by Bill, given he has nothing else to do.

They could on the other hand scrap the Pal Park and use a Time machine in HG/SS for the 3rd gen games... hmm.

xxChazxx May 14th, 2009 12:03 AM

I belive it will make a comeback after the elite four, but use the GBA slot like the Pal Park. It must be after the Elite Four because if not, the Johto Dex would be messed up.

It'd be cool if they were combined though, like a Time Park sorta thing.

----

Pal Park after the Elite Four. Time Machine or Time Park hybrid before.

It would probably be the Pal Park equivalent for HG/SS. And most likely will be done after the Elite Four, when the player receives the National Pokedex in some way.

There would have to be someway for previous generation Pokemon to make their way into HG/SS (for those players that skipped out on D/P/Pt for whatever reason), and G/S had the Time Machine in the originals, and the other fourth generation games have the Pal Park. So it's going to be interesting to see exactly what it is Nintendo will do.

teenPKMNtrainer22 May 14th, 2009 12:26 AM

It's unlikely, seen that D/P/Pt had Pal park I personally rather they bring back the Time machine. But it'll probably be replaced by the Pal Park and maybe a long-distance trade machine to trade with Sinnoh that'll be worked on till you beat the Elite 4.

.inLOVE May 14th, 2009 1:57 AM

I'd like the time machine back. It was a lot of fun to use~

YellowPen May 14th, 2009 2:04 AM

I actually doubt that the time machine will be used like the Pal Park
simply because the DSi dosent have a gba-slot

If anything, im guessing that the time machine will be used to trade with D/P/Pt. Kinda like how you had to do those missions in FR/LG to trade with R/S/E. So you will probably have to fix the time machine after the E4

Im just guessing...

BHwolfgang May 14th, 2009 3:03 AM

If the time machine does make a comeback, then I can't see a possible chance of seeing Pal Park in this game.

BHwolfgang May 14th, 2009 3:07 AM

I would rather see the time machine in this remake rather than Pal Park. Pal Park seems like a D/P/P thing anyway.

Zelda May 14th, 2009 3:10 AM

I wouldn't really want a Pal Park in this remake and I don't think they will put it. It's more likely they will make the pokemon catchable instead.

JeTz May 14th, 2009 3:38 AM

Who cares?

Well, just come out anyway =D
