Lugia and Ho-oh

In the CoroCoro scan we got new art of Lugia and Ho-oh. Following Red, Blue, Ruby, Sapphire, Diamond, and Pearl, there's a good chance that this art will be on the covers of the games. What do you think of them?

I think Lugia looks really angry (and really awesome, as always).

As much as I dislike Ho-oh, I have to admit that art makes it look really cool.

For those who haven't seen the new scans, so you don't have to look for them,

It's way to big to post. xD.

I don't think that will be the cover art, though. The cover art will be much more majestic, I believe.

Lugia looks good. Ho-Oh is like a parrot this time, but not really much, just a little difference from the original.

wolf May 12th, 2009 4:20 PM

I love the the new art for both of them, definitely better than the older drawings.

Snapelle May 12th, 2009 4:21 PM

They are ok. I think they could have done better.

Captain Fabio May 12th, 2009 4:22 PM

I don't mind them.
I think they look good =]

and also, NUUUUUUUU WABBY! XD

BHwolfgang May 12th, 2009 5:02 PM

They're okay. I wonder how someone would say that Ho-Oh would look like a parrot…

I guess it's because of its stance and the way the claws are positioned as if Ho-Oh is on a perch or something.

Anyways, I like both of the art, but I prefer Ho-Oh better. Lugia does look angry, but the wings look too much like hands. Also, Lugia looks like as if he's going to grab something. XD

Maybe it's grabbing a nice pair of... nevermind...
I agree. Birds should grab things with their feet, not winghands. D:

Lugia isn't a bird, though. It's slightly based on a bird, but it's certainly not one, especially since it can swim. :P

AJ™ May 12th, 2009 5:15 PM

Penguins are birds. They can swim.
PWN!

fenyx4 May 12th, 2009 5:15 PM

Ho-Oh's new artwork looks AWESOME and majestic, I'd actually be glad if that was the box art! It's one of the few Ho-Oh artworks that looks fierce, while graceful and natural. Other Ho-Oh artwork looks...unnatural, I guess.

Lugia looks OK, though it looks a bit too angry for a box cover. Though unlikely, I'd like the Lugia artwork shown here: http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=177544&page=3 (scroll downward a bit)

Anyway, overall, the updated Johto artwork looks good! Liking how Larvitar looked cute yet fierce simultaneously! :) Keep up the cool artwork, Ken Sugimori!

PWN!

But Penguins can't fly. :P

AJ™ May 12th, 2009 5:17 PM

Doesn't mean they're not birds?!
Ostriches can't fly, but they're still birds.
DOUBLEPWN!

I think Lugia is a Dragon-water hybrid creature.

Artemis May 12th, 2009 5:18 PM

The new art is very nicely done and I can definitely say that it is better than the original art. I can't say for sure that they'll be the new box art pictures, but there is a slight possibility.

JP May 12th, 2009 5:19 PM

Lugia's looks awesome, Ho-Oh's pose is a bit generic though, but still looks good.

Are there any animals that can fly and swim?

It is based on a dragon, somewhat.

AJ™ May 12th, 2009 5:21 PM

Humans can fly and swim, be it by magical forces or aircraft!

I would've preferred if it was Flying/Water, or Flying/Dragon. It'd make more sense.

Gulpin May 12th, 2009 5:22 PM

It looks like there is awesome new artwork for other Johto-specific pokemon!

After watching "The Power of One," I thought for sure it was Flying/Water. The only sign that it was Psychic was the telepathy.

Swift! May 12th, 2009 5:24 PM

Ho-Oh's art is absolutely amazing and Lugia's is simply badass. xD

Artemis May 12th, 2009 5:30 PM

Ho-oh truly doesn't look like a parrot to me, it looks simply gracious...I can't describe Lugia in words, except for brilliant.

AJ™ May 12th, 2009 5:32 PM

Ho-Oh's never really looked like a parrot.
Chatot on the other hand is what parrots look like.

Ho-Oh's always been my favorite. ♥

Zero Avenged May 12th, 2009 5:35 PM

I wouldnt mind if that was the game covers. They looked really good. Ho-oh looked like he was mid flight or something and Lugia look like he just woke up or something.

Artemis May 12th, 2009 5:45 PM

Having them as the box art covers wouldn't be a bad idea...as long as they do not put something that would look worse. These are just right, and I'm sure they might even have better. Still, these new pictures are really cool.
