Bill's PokeGear Number

This has been bothering me. We know that the PokeGear is back, but in GSC Bill gave his phone number to discuss the boxes with the player, mainly when the boxes were full to let you know to change them. Now that fuction is automatic. So will Bill's number not be in at all? Or will it have another function?

I think they'll use it like Elm's number for plotline events.

I honestly forgot Bill even gave you his number. :P

Sweet Smoochum May 12th, 2009 11:26 PM

Maybe Bill will be the one to call you about Goldenrod city being taken over by Team Rocket instead of Professor Elm. ;)

LOL. Maybe Bill will just text you reminders that your current box is full and your automatic catch storage has moved on to the next box.

Artemis May 13th, 2009 5:30 AM

Agreed with the post above, Bill can still call you and tell you about it, and the game can jsut take out the text of the Pokémon being moved to the next box. Bill can still also play a part in calling about recent Team Rocket doings as well as Elm.

lol, i'll call that later.

I agree, he should still maintain his job. Maybe he'll also alert you to certain swarms or to give you rare items as many other numbers do.

I reckon Poliwagged and xxChazxx have managed to hit this one on the nail. Their theories make sense.

Agreed. Especially if you're going for all 493.

Btw, PokeGear includes Radio, Map, and everything else.
What you're meaning to say is called a "CELL PHONE".

Anywho, I doubt he'll talk about swarms or pokeboxes
or anything. I think he won't call you (unless for TR events),
but on the contrary, you'll call him. He'll give you advice on
organizing the PC, he'll rave on about Eevees, he'll talk about
Celio and Lanette, etc. What could HE call you about? The only
useful topic I could think of is when he calls player to say that
his city is being raped by Team Rocket, or, if we're lucky, he'll
give useful advice on Eeveelutions after he gives you an eevee.

This is such a minor detail, you could have just posted this in the
speculation thread, though..

It'll probably be for you to get certain WiFi events and such. Or he'll tell you where you might should go next in the game for the storyline.

Lol, Bill texting you like that every time a captured Pokemon was shifted to the next available box would be really annoying. Especially if Bill LOL'd about it.

Anyway, I'd like him to have decent tips and tricks to talk about, though unlikely. What I'd really like is if he was one of the NPCs who gives out free PP Ups/Maxes and Rare Candies, as those 2 items are currently very hard to get in supply. If the Earthquake TM can be purchased by Trainers with Btl Pts like there's no tomorrow, these items should be available as well.

(Note that in Ru/Sa and FR/LG, for example, you can only get 1 EQ TM as opposed to multiple Rare Candies and PP Ups)

Artemis May 13th, 2009 3:37 PM

Texting will be too annoying, and having that pop up all the time with a bunch of words would be too much. I rather the phone calling, and yes this will be a major feature. It would be cool [just a thought] if they made the PokéGear phone have some compatibility with WiFi.

Sweet Smoochum May 14th, 2009 1:08 AM

Maybe Bill will call you about the GTS in Goldenrod. ;)

Anyway, texting is kinda useless because we can already read what they are saying on the screen. Plus, texting is tedious and they might not always know what you are saying. Maybe w/ texting friends via wifi wouldn't be a bad idea, but then again, that's what cell phones are for.

Maybe Bill will call to talk about .... Team Rocket, Magnet Train, Eevee, something new he added to the PC, Pokemon Seals (if they are used in HGSS) or something.

Artemis May 14th, 2009 6:53 AM

I'm pretty sure Bill will still call you about some new features in the PC Box. I wouldn't be surprised if he called and said something about it after you beat the Elite also.
