Doujin

Yeah, doujin. Fan-made manga, if you ask.
And since the doujin I usually read are anime/manga-related, so I think it should be put in the section for the land of the Rising Sun... (If it's in the wrong place, sorry...)

Do you read doujin? And what kind of doujin do you read? That's what I wanna ask.

Me will post later.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the majority of people who post in this thread would have read a Touhou one, seeing as how there's just so many. But yes, I do read doujins, although only every once in a while and for each time, the genres are varying. My favourite kind however, are the ones that extend already completed series. CCS for one, as the last episode and second movie ending did little to give me any closure on SxS' relationship.

I read doujin a lot, probably more than actual manga.

The series I read the most doujin are Touhou, Nanoha, Higurashi and Rozen Maiden, I believe.

I thought Doujin meant Pornographic Manga.

Nope. There's a lot of hentai doujin but not all doujin is porn. Doujinshi means unprofessional comics, iirc? There are lots of original stories released independently as doujin but they're better known (especially in Western fandom) for being fancomics or... porn. XD;

I love doujinshi. I used to love reading it online but now that I can actually afford some, I love collecting it too. I tend to go for stuff with pretty art regardless of the content (ie, if it's from a series I like and it's pretty and a decent price, I'll buy it even if I don't like the pairing in it, etc.). Most of my stuff is pairing, both het and BL. I love gag doujinshi the most of all since my Japanese skills aren't great enough to digest complex stories. :(

I love reading doujins ,as long as people translate them of coarse xD If not i like looking at the art.
Now a days i read doujins that are Reborn! related. Like yaoi pairings like Xanxus x Squalo, Yamamoto x Gokudera, etc.
Most of the stuff i look at are pretty dirty though xD

Last doujin event I went was Futaket 5, on a budget of 5k yen (which I went over by 2k yen.)
That really says too much, I guess.

I also want my Sunshine Creation back :(

I'd love to go to the Comiket, but I have no money. I'd just go look for them online. I like doujin because it gives a chance for aspiring artists to show off their style.

Well, I'll talk about my doujin history.

I like reading yaoi doujin, which I generally hate. I read Pokemon, Naruto, and a lot of doujin I don't know what it is, but it's mainly Pokemon... Ehehe...

deadmuffin May 26th, 2009 5:41 AM

I have 7 gigs of H-Doujinshi.....guess that counts ^_^

Jorah May 28th, 2009 10:06 AM

I hope this isn't a stupid question (so I bet it is) but are all doujin in Japanese? No one translates them? Anyway, I have got a few on my computer, I like them for the pictures. There was one that I downloaded though...it started off alright enough, but then on one page it suddenly went...nasty. And I don't usually care about a lot of stuff...I don't want to talk about it, but I've been disturbed for life XD

Azumi May 29th, 2009 12:55 AM

It's not a stupid question at all, my friend~

Some doujin aren't Japanese to start with. I've always wanted to make a doujin, and it's probably going to be English.

I've seen thousands of doujin, and they're not translated. I like them too for the yaoi and the art.

HAHA! That's been happening to me for like, lots of times. I usually read Palletshipping doujin and there was one which made Satoshi literraly a kid and Shigeru is older, and it looks like child molest or something...

Jorah May 29th, 2009 7:36 AM

Oh, I see, it's just that most of them come from Japan and go untranslated, but there are English ones out there. I've only ever found Japanese ones, but I don't have many haha.

The one I read wasn't like that. Although, I've read a fanfic like that o.O Not realising what was going to happen. The doujin went rather, er, graphic. I'm not sure I can even give a description of it without getting infractions XDD So I'll just say this about it: it sucked. It ended rather messily. Take it to mean whatever you like. O.O

I seriously really hate doujin like that.

Okay, I have read a "doujin", two of them made by sunriseoasis 2 years ago. They were very interesting.

.inLOVE May 30th, 2009 12:14 PM

Doujin is something I read a lot because it's fun. Seeing other's talents and their imaginations creating new things just really appeals to me.
