Under leveled Evolutions

On G/S you could catch pokemons evolution before they should have evolved like you could catch lvl 20 Tentacruels and lvl 16 Persians and Falkners Pidgeotto was lvl 9 so do you think they have sorted out that problem and do you think you can catch under leveled pokemon on HG/SS?

Cubed May 17th, 2009 2:52 AM

What about over leveled under evolutions aswell?

for example, a lvl 56 monferno (I know that wont be the case, but still...).

Poliwagged May 17th, 2009 2:55 AM

What about lance's underleveled dragonites.
Clearly the NPCs in G/S was acquainted with the Action Replay device.

processr May 17th, 2009 2:57 AM

Given that you can find level 4 Staravia and Bibarel in Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, I'd guess the developers aren't too concerned with complete accuracy.

And Lv100 magikarp, which is basically saying **** you, magikarp.

Cubed May 17th, 2009 3:12 AM

Yea you can catch Magikarps up to lvl 100 O_o.

Dragonzord May 17th, 2009 5:15 AM

dont firget lv9 pigeotto in yellow vridian forest :D

Artemis May 17th, 2009 5:21 AM

I don't think the underleveled Pokémon matter much to GameFreak, just that they portray a strong looking Pokémon for the Gym or Elite. Over time, if a rematch is allowed then the possibility of the levels will change as well along with the Pokémon evolution.

If such thing can happen in this remake, the Gyms better be stronger the next time I get there. D8

Perhaps they'll change some of the under leveled evolutions, but I'm not sure how much. I really don't see it as a big deal. If anything it makes the game easier for the player since they won't have to raise pokemon as much to complete the pokedex.

kingofjokers May 17th, 2009 10:01 AM

well if they want to but does it really matter

Let's not forget Lance's infamous trio of Dragonite. His two Dragonair evolved, but at the same time, they dropped 10 levels.

Artemis May 17th, 2009 11:09 AM

It's hard to say if they'll change the levels or even some of the Pokémon on the Gym Leader's team though because in FRLG nothing had changed for the Gyms there much at all.

Kim Do-yeon May 17th, 2009 11:26 AM

Like in Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal you have high level Kanto Gym Leaders I think in HG/SS they should be lower and you can only use Pokémon you get or catch in Kanto by getting a new starter from Oak because what I say is how did Red and Blue defeat them if they are that high in level.

There was a secret pond in the route from Blackthorn to New Bark Town that had lv10 Dragonairs if you used a super rod
Now we know where Lances dragonairs 10 levels went!

Agreed!
What would be the point in doing that?

It would be a step back if anything...

ckn May 18th, 2009 2:48 PM

yeah im pretty sure it'll be all the same besides the lvl 100 magikarp or lvl 10 dragonairs. they better keep the gym leaders pokemon the same though because beating that lvl 9 pidgeotto made my cyndaquil evolve :D

Artemis May 18th, 2009 4:15 PM

I really would like them to bring the levels up though, because I know I'm going to end up training too high in levels on my team for no reason.

BenjiTheKid May 18th, 2009 5:09 PM

I though underleveled evolved Pokemon were in EVERY game...

Yes, in a way, but if you compare the Gyms and Elites of GS to the ones in FRLG, RSE, and DPPt, then you'll see exactly how underleveled it is. I mean it is kind of sad to see it that way.

What is wrong with having a Chimchar at Lvl 76?

On topic, if anything had to be changed in the game it should be the levels, just so the game won't be as easy as it was originally.

Astinus May 18th, 2009 8:39 PM

I doubt there's going to be any changes of finding wild Pokemon that evolved before their evolution point. It's a staple of the games at this point.

And there's nothing wrong with over-leveled unevolved Pokemon. Some people just like one Pokemon, but not its evolution stage. As for ingame characters have over-leveled unevolved Pokemon, it's just like the wild Pokemon that are the same. Just something included by Game Freak that's a staple of the games.

Redstar May 18th, 2009 9:24 PM

The idea of levels are stupid anyways. In a real-world situation they make no sense whatsoever, and it'd be like having trainers walking around with DBZ scouters, reading their Pokemon.

I think it's very fitting for gym leaders and Elite Four members, who are supposed, to be some of the best trainers in the world to perfectly train their Pokemon and have them evolve earlier than usual. I'm sure happiness plays a large part in this as well.
