HeartGold/SoulSilver, A Bluff?

I'm sure mostly everyone has been bugging the pokemon people to create a HG/SS remake, right?

What about they got sick of this and just created tat clip and a few clipshots to make us shut up about it so they can focus on future games?

What I'm trying to say is, are they lying to us about HG/SS?

ckret2 May 21st, 2009 5:13 PM

That would be the worst business decision on the planet.

You promise a game that everyone has been looking forward to for years, and then don't deliver on it? How would the customer base react to a business that pulled a stunt like that? Especially a customer base of multimillions of people, with a business as high-profile as Nintendo, selling a product as well-known as Pokémon games?

No company could intentionally lie about something as big as that, something as hyped and expected as that, and then not deliver. The customer base will be furious with them, will boycott their products, will never trust them again. There's also a good chance such a stunt would fall under the category of "false advertising," which is illegal and which companies can get sued for, and can lose a lot of money over.

They would have to be seriously retarded to do something like that, which they are not. Remember that this is a company run by adults that think about the consequence of actions like that.

*punces wisher in the face
DUDE, DO NOT SPEAK OF THIS TOMFOOLERY!
THEY WOULD NEVER DO THAT.....or would they
*looks around
could they lie to us, would they lie to us?
if they are bluffing then there's only one explanation for this
WE'RE LIVING IN THE MATRIX AND GAME FREAK AND NINTENDO ARE THE AGENTS!

AJ™ May 21st, 2009 5:23 PM

Never. Going. To. Happen.

Mobs would break out in the streets! People would go crazy! Murders would occur left and right! NOA and NOJ headquarters would be bombed by radical extremist groups!

But honestly, It's definitely not a bluff.

gummybarz May 21st, 2009 5:23 PM

I don't think they would lie, None of there pokemon games would sell anymore
and there business would go bankreupt.

Åzurε May 21st, 2009 5:25 PM

It would blow the trust of maybe half of the whole pokemon franchise, dude. GS on the DS is coming.

that is so true (and would prove that we do, in fact, live in the matrix)
but it isn't a bluff. it could be a flop though, but i don't think it would be

Mudkipable May 21st, 2009 5:38 PM

Guys, jeez. Nintendo would lose ALOT of customers if they cancelled or were bluffing about HGSS.

HGSS is DEFINATLY coming.

the0person0of03 May 21st, 2009 5:40 PM

It would devastate curious children.
Not a possibility. I shalt condemn you for speaking such blasphemy!

Jαcκςση May 21st, 2009 5:44 PM

No. That is absolutely rediculous.

Heart's Soul May 21st, 2009 5:54 PM

I had an idea for this and it seems logical for Nintendo, due to fans hopes being brought up and they can release another game, thinking it'd get huge hype. It's a common business move, usually failed. But, the worst thing ever done? Not even Philips CD-i works just as bad as those adult games for Atari 2600.

Bibliophibian May 21st, 2009 6:38 PM

If they were lying, everyone at Nintendo would end up getting punched in the face daily by all the angry fans.

Myself included.

CyanideEspeon May 21st, 2009 6:39 PM

I don't think they are lying, but if they where, I'd be annoyed. Very annoyed.

JP May 21st, 2009 7:06 PM

Like someone else said, that would be a terrible business choice. Plus, that is way too far fetched. It hardly make sense too. The easiest thing for them to do, if this was the case, would have been to simply ignore the requests... not create fake ads and commercials lol.

Yes, they are very different things. I wasn't implying that they were the same. It's not like companies have never started developing a game and then given up on development. (Duke Nukem Forever?) I wasn't talking about cancellation, I was responding to the original question, which was about "bluffing."

The question was, basically, "is Nintendo flat-out lying about having any intention to actually make a game, and just faked a few video clips for a game that they do not plan to develop and never will make?" To which the answer is "heck no, that would be retarded."

If the question was "is there a chance that Nintendo might end up cancelling this game even though they've evidently started working on it?" then the answer would be that yeah, there's a chance, albeit a very slim chance since this game's been in development three years (so Nintendo says) and is scheduled to be released within months.

I wasn't talking about cancellation. I was talking about what the original author suggested: that for no good reason and contrary to all the practices of good business, Nintendo had announced the development of a game that it was 100% sure it had no intention of ever making, period.

Crystal-Heart May 21st, 2009 9:18 PM

Do you have any idea how much it costs to get a copywrite? Since they already have DuskGold & DawnSilver copywrited, they would have used those names instead of HeartGold & SoulSilver, which had to get new copywrites for.

D i v i n e X May 21st, 2009 9:39 PM

So the guys at nintendo went:
\
"Yeah, lets announce the biggest, money making, anticipated game, and then not release it. It will be so funny."

Logical thought.

THIRTY-SIX May 21st, 2009 9:57 PM

A lot of pokemon fans became fans because of gold, silver and crystal. Most of the people who originally bought red/blue aren't fans of the franchise. Well in my experience that's been the case.

The Apprentice™ May 21st, 2009 10:02 PM

This will be my reaction if that were to happen.

"Awww man.....KILL THEMMMM" (Grabs my torch)

But that's what I'll do. Well except for grabbing a torch obviously. lol.

PokemonFanatic2 May 21st, 2009 10:04 PM

Don't think so. They announced it and I think it's almost out in Japan already, but it's definately not a bluff.

BHwolfgang May 22nd, 2009 3:04 AM

It would upset a lot of costumers and fans, which would hurt Nintendo a lot. Yeah, there could be a possible chance of getting delayed. Okay, I'm sure everyone can deal with that, 'cause they're still making it, right? However, if it's a bluff…

Glaceon_ May 22nd, 2009 3:28 AM

I personally think that they have been working on a G/S Remake since around the time they started on Platinum; maybe even sooner than that.

A delay in release, yes... but if Nintendo pulled a hoax like that, you would see a lot of upset customers from the Pokemon fandom. In reaction, it might even affect their sales, making people think that any kind of popularly-wanted remake or sequel announced for release by them could just as well be the very same thing. Not to mention they have announced that it is possible that a release of the game will be in Autumn; once you announce possible release dates, you can't step back and declare it won't be coming out. (not really, anyway) Besides, they know that Pokemon is one of their biggest-selling franchises. What would be the point of lying about a remake when they've already remade the first Generation?

Overall, from a company viewpoint, it would be a very very bad idea to declare that the whole HG/SS remake announcement was just a hoax put together by Nintendo themselves just to agitate their fans again. (let's not forget (or let's highlight) the whole Fatal Frame 4 ordeal; I've not looked into it personally, but apparently, there has been a lot of tip-toeing around the matter by Nintendo as to if it will even happen) I know some people who have almost lost hope with Nintendo over that, so if they did it to one of their best-selling and most popular franchises... whew... I don't want to know what would happen. XD

Me, personally? I wouldn't be a happy fan, but I wouldn't let it have a major impact on me. I'd just add it to the major disappointing games/gaming announcements pile... XD;

Zelda May 22nd, 2009 5:10 AM

Yes this remake is official now. If it wasn't then Nintendo would probably have a bad name, because a lot of people wanted this remake to happen. In one of the threads, it was said to heard that these remakes were in the working since Diamond and Pearl. Has Nintendo ever lied about any game they were remaking or better yet, making?

^This.

NO company would be so stupid, or at least I hope to god that isn't the case.

Besides, they've shown screenshots so unless this is a VERY elaborate joke on Nintendo's part, I think it's safe to say that Heart Gold (same ass name that one though) and Soul Silver are definatley official and coming out.

Cheesymitten May 22nd, 2009 5:53 AM

If this is a bluff then why have they spent valuable time to make a great game like this?
Come on i mean that's a bit of a way to go...Making some screenshots to excite the public then saying it's a bluff.
I don't think it is a bluff...
