Japanese Snacks
Do you buy Japanese snacks? If so where?
The only thing I can find is Pocky at Wal-Mart. |
Yes, I get pocky from wal-mart and some kind of fruit soda from a stand at an anime convention I go to.
|
mmm, pocky is generally easy to find, I also get Lamune from time to time, mostly from FYE (you can usually find those in malls). You can also find a bunch of the stuff in asian food stores, which is generally where i get a bunch of snacks in the first place XD
|
Pocky must be one of the better known snacks out there. :D I think I can buy it from one of the local supermarkets, but I generally don't since it's all too expensive.
|
Wasabeef is God. Best snack/crisp/potato chips ever.
|
Pocky, known here in the UK as ''Mikado''.
I've seen it around some supermarkets. |
Pocky and those chocolate-filled kaola bears from the local Wal-Mart. We also have an Asian supermarket where I can nab many choice snacks whose name eludes me due to language barriers. And plenty of curry mix, vegetables, and good ramen.
|
I used to buy a fair bit from places, but at the moment I just buy Pocky.
I'd love to find somewhere that sells good ramen - I would literally cry if I found somewhere. <3 |

Well, not bad ramen, as such. But proper stuff, thats made properly - if that makes any sense at all.
|
I dont buy japanese food produces.
Maybe just ramen, sence its easy to make and good tasting. At least some flavors are. |
I used to get free milk candy when I ordered manga from Just Manga.
I am looking for a place to buy it. =3 |
ohohoh. I think I know which you're talking about, but the ones I'm thinking of may be Chinese.
|
Go to Epcot ~ Disney in florida ~ The Japanese section. *_* My paradise.
I sometimes have them sent up from my Friend in Japan, but, I don't do that much anymore, since he eats some of them as extra-payment. XD I love all of the fruit flavored things. But, I can buy Pocky myself at Meijier. |
Mochi is my favourite Japanese snack, sweet wagashi is good too. I normally find them down in the asian section of downtown Seattle, like Uwajimaya.
|
I love Pocky <3
I have sushi and wasabi for a snack sometimes. I also have this Japanese soda I order every few weeks. |
Nah, the only Japanese 'snack' I consume is ramen. 8D They're tasty and cheap~
|
I eat Pocky every day when I was in my old school.
|
I'm not sure where I can buy them from.
v I have no idea where they are. |
Japanese snacks are (obviously) in Japanese supermarkets. But if you can't find those, you can go to other asian supermarkets as well. In my area, there's a lot of Korean and Chinese supermarkets with Japanese drinks and snacks. It's very common.
Though, I don't normally buy Japanese snacks. lol I prefer Korean. |
There's a small asian market walking distance from my house, so I go up there occasionally and buy snacks. I have an addiction to Mocchi, Pocky, and those waffer-icecream frozen snacks.. that are shaped like fish. xD I don't remember their names. I try a lot of different things, but those are the main ones.
|
I've never bought anything myself, but my friends bought me some pocky and some Japanese soda before. It was yummy. =3 Especially the strawberry pocky. <3 I'll bite your freaking hand off if you try to take it. >.> |
It seems most people like Pocky, like me.
My mum gets it so I don't know where.. |
Fran is superior to Pocky in every way, except the price tag.
|
I'm English, so we're severely lacking in the tasty Japanese food department. The only thing I've seen is Pocky. That's one more addiction for me.
|
I have to say, I love Puccho and Ramune <3 <3 XD I go through them like crazy T_T
|
I bought a sweet bean kit kat off eBay. It was good!! Too bad its only limited edition ;_;!!
|
Oh, I thought you mean Sushi and all that. I love Pocky. That's the only japanese I eat.
|
I love Sushi :3 i eat it always.. Im Half Japanese that's why/
|
I am not so sure how you people define snack, but it's pretty easy to get packet sushi here, though it's a little pricey
|
I like sushi, and to know other snacks, I need to go to Asian supermarkets.
|
Pocky ftw. <3
I love Pocky so much that I eat it at any time I can. :3 I usually get it at the air force base I go to but I don't have any more. ;o; |

Pocky and Ramune for the win. :D Once me and my brother spent $100 on pocky and ate all over the summer. xD Sushi is good too. There are a lot of asian market around me
|
Downtown Toronto has tons!! So does Markham because there are so many Asian supermarkets there!
o3o I love those Ramune marble drinks! They're so tasty! http://d3.biggestmenu.com/00/00/55/4e7f70a9f818f334_m.jpg <333 http://tbn2.google.com/images?q=tbn:KsE2SYTd5LJ99M:http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3167/2313889315_9dc96dbd7f.jpg%3Fv%3D0 <3 |
At the first anime convention I went to a girl was giving away boxes of pocky in return for bows. Ever since then its been my favorite Japanese snack food. Through it took me forever to find it at my local Kroger because it was in the Mexican section.
|
I'm Asian, so I constantly go to Asain markets. There's a really good store called Mistuwa. They sell all kinds of goodies *.*
|
Yeah. Sushi can be found anywhere. I prefer the ones at fish markets

The crazy flavored cokes (green tea coke, anyone?) and kit-kats (melon, potato, etc.) are always worth at least one try. Nori by itself makes for a decent snack. I'm told dried squid is good, too, though I wouldn't eat it myself. |
I just got some Japanese Milk Candy that I ordered form Amazon.com - its really good! ^^
I have always wanted to try Taiyaki but no way I would find any in Oklahoma ;_; |
I really love Pocky and Sushi with ginger and wasabi. I really love Sushi! It is the best. <3 I also tried some noddle bowls too. I really want to try some miso soup and other noddles bowls.
|
I tried Miso soup. I didn't really like it. XD
|
Oh really? Awww. Was it too sour or salty? Meh, I am going to still try it.
|
I quite like misoshiru, the good stuff that is - not the cheap version that you can sometimes buy.
Another snack I like is mochi. And I think onigiri also counts as a snack. Both are pretty nice, even the 7-Eleven onigiri are decent too. :3 |

There's a Japanese supermarket near my house, so I get Pocky and other assorted snacks there. Great to have around. ^-^ |
Uggh I know once I had the tastiest snack EVER when my Japanese teacher brought it home from Japan for us once. Lmfao I honestly don't remember anything about it now though--not even the packaging it was in. DD: I just remember everyone kept asking her when she was going to Japan next so she could bring more back, haha.
I used to have Pocky a lot but then I got sick of it and it literally ruins my appetite to think of it. XD; |
Grape Fanta :O
OM NOM NOM! It is so nice! XD When I was in Japan, I always use to grab one from the vending machines. Also, pocky :O |
Who hasn't tried Pocky? XD
I also like this Ju-C (ヂューC) stuff that they sell at my local Asian market. Comes in Coke, Cider, Grape, and Strawberry flavors. All pretty good. d(''d) |
I've tried different kinds of Pocky flavors, I usually buy that at mall.
And I've tried some like Pucca. |
When I was in japan last time my favs were:
Caplico Kaaru (the cheese snacks) a type of cough lollie, cant remember whch 1 XD Meiji chocs. all of them Thats all I can remember... |
Just some Pocky and some other random spicy variety type snack food. XD
|
Mooncakes can be bought in some asian food stores.....mmmmmooncakes
|
There used to be this video store in my town's mall and they had a section with ton of Japanese goodies like funky sodas, gummies and tons of pocky. But now they've closed so I can only find them in specialty stores in bigger cities and anime cons. >_> Though wehn I was in NYC we found one shop and there is this one candy I found that was so good. T_T It was it a like a semi-hard candy, so you could chew it, and it was milk/melon flavored. I could have eaten the whole bag. D:
|
I think there's a brand called Hello Panda which is kind of Japanese. It's a treat brand with cookies and such and it's delicious.
Anyways, what's so special about Japanese candy? |
Quote:
Anyway, I love eating Pocky! The strawberry flavoured ones > chocolate flavoured ones, imo <D As for the candy, Haichuu, I like the grape flavoured ones only. The other flavours don't taste as nice in comparison. I like the taste + the chewiness of the sweet XD |

I was lucky enough to go to Kyoto this month and boy, do they have good snacks. More like desserts actually. There's this dessert called Yatsuhashis which were AWESOME!1!!1 /showoff |
There japanese too........and sushi..........mmmm and mabye the odd Kenko drink once in a while
|
Here's my list:
Pocky - World Market Ramune - World Market Calpico - certain Japanese restaurants serve this Japanese gummies - World Market / epcot - world showcase - Japan All of these are REALLY, REALLY good... |
Once a month me and my friends we all go down to Chinatown NY (since we live in the bronx it isn't that far for us) while being there, we buy lots of Japanese toys (for me I buy mainly Pokemon/ Mario dolls), eat traditional Japanese food and also pick up a lot of Pocky like Strawberry dessert one as well as the Chocolate desert one (we buy other pocky, but the list is too long) and what we love the most is The lavender chocolate one (its the best)
:t354:TG |
There is a world market that I know of and it's not too far from my house. That's where I go to buy my Pocky (CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT THE POCKY!!). Also they have other Japanese snacks there, too! And I can get the really big packages of Pocky there. ^^
|
I get these Japanese rice crackers from Shop Rite, haha. Wasabe <3
|
I but loads of Japanese snacks from an Asian Market near where I live- and this stuff isn't just your run of the mill pocky, this is stuff like actual sweets and Japanese crisps and stuff.
|
I eat Japanese snacks when I have them, and I usually do, because my aunt usually sends Japanese snacks straight from Japan when she can.
Most of these snacks are Pocky (IDK if Strawberry or Chocolate tastes better, but both taste fine), those rice crackers, nori (dried seaweed), Japanese sweets and some dried seafood strips of some kind. I also get chances to eat sushi and sashimi (and of course, wasabi) --if those are considered as Japanese snacks. |
I've had Pocky before, chocolate's my favorite. We usually get our foreign foods from Jungle Jims
|
Pocky was my first Japanese snack and them it was Yam Yam, they mostly sell it at wal-mart.
|
Pretty much nothing around here other than the internet (I don't quite grasp the concept of ordering snacks off the web quite yet), I've wanted to try Pocky though...
